Did you see the beautiful Swedish country home of photographer Mari Magnusson on Monday? I've been dreaming about it ever since and couldn't help pouring through her instagram for more Autumn inspiration. And then I stumbled across this outdoor table setting. What a wonderful way to celebrate the season and make the most of the balmy weather before temperatures force us indoors!
There are so many pretty elements at play - and I'm sure the authors of the book Curate (see yesterday's post!) would be impressed with the natural elements, small imperfections and vintage flair!
In case you'd like to create a similar look try these items: Mika plate*, Mika side plate*, Mika soup bowl* from , glass candleholder*, natural linen napkins*, hand blown wine glasses*. And of course add a fabulous bouquet of flowers.
A bit too chilly? Greenhouses are popping up left, right and centre in Sweden and are a perfect place to prolong the season while still surrounded by nature. If you are lucky enough to have one, why not clear it out and create space for a party?
So pretty!
Table setting inspiration for the weekend perhaps?
Just add a hearty soup!
Speaking of country homes, I've set up home for three days in a pretty cottage in Blekinge, south Sweden (you might recognise the name from this guide). The cottage will serve as a backdrop for several Danish homeware brands which I am here to shoot. I can't wait to share the results with you soon!
Ha det så bra!

Sadly, it looks like outdoor dining is no longer in the cards for us (this year), the fall has arrived and it getting chilly.
ReplyDeleteI recently made a surprising discovery that dahlias/zinnias (I can't tell them apart and I don't know which are those in the photos) have no longevity as cut flowers. I purchased a bouquet at the farmers' market on a Saturday and by Monday, most of the petals started to fall off. I mentioned it last Saturday to the vendor who generously gave another bouquet free of charge but she did confirm that these flowers do not last very long once cut. That surprised me because I always thought that they would be long-lasting (like chrysanthemums). I love their colours though.
Yes, I've noticed this too! Flowers in Sweden are really expensive too so I tend to go for flowers that I know will last at least 5-7 days! PS It's a bit too chilly here now for outdoor dining too - and the clocks go forward this weekend so it's also going to be dark!
DeleteIsn't that pretty? The table and the greenhouse look so inviting. On the rare occasions when we have a perfect autumn weather day, outdoor picnics are wonderful (but mine are much less elaborate than what you have pictured). Enjoy your time away from home, Niki!
ReplyDeleteI love a clear, sunny Autumn afternoon! Admittedly, my outdoor picnics are way less elaborate than this too, I wish they did look like this though!
DeleteGorgeous! You have the most elegant bouquets.
ReplyDeleteThey are so great at putting bouquets together here - always lovely colours with surprising elements. I am guessing Mari put this together with flowers from her own garden.
DeleteAbsolutely stunning outdoor dining tablescape.
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you felt inspired by this too. It would look equally lovely inside if the weather isn't playing along.
