Old Meets New in a Charming Swedish Apartment

Why hello there, how are you this bright and sunny morning?! You might recognise this beautiful Swedish kitchen - it used to belong to Johanna Bradford and I featured it back in 2015.  This week the new owners put her former Gothenburg home on the market again (if you missed it last time, here's your chance to snap it up!). Some of the lovely touches Johanna added - such as the William Morris Pimpernel wallpaper and stainless steel kitchen cabinets remain - and it still has the entire apartment still has that wonderful 'old meets new' vibe. Enjoy the tour!

What do you reckon? Ready to move in?!!

Johanna has moved homes no less than 9 times since 2009! Needless to say I've been documenting her renovations along the way! Take a peek inside two of her previous homes here and here.

I love her use of bold patterned wallpaper. I remember having a lot of Laura Ashley wallpaper in my childhood home - how about you?! These days I don't have any, but seeing these spaces I feel now's the time to change that!

What are your thoughts on wallpaper? Do you have any in your home?

I'm on my way to Madrid (actually on the plane right now!) for a couple of days for a press event - very excited! I'm hoping to take my work poolside (don't tell the man - he thinks I've got a very full schedule). If you have any great tips for Madrid please send them my way, I'd love to hear them!

Have a lovely day!

  1. I am not a huge fan of wallpaper. I have a lot of art on my walls, and I think it wouldn't work so well. I do like grasscloth (although I don't have any). However, this home is wonderful.

    1. I love lots of art in a home, it gives a space such s personal feel. I’m off to explore grasscloth this morning to see what I can find!

  2. I've had wallpaper in several of my homes. I find for me personally that I grow tired of the pattern after awhile and would rather use paint and artwork instead. It is such a chore to remove and so much easier to just add a different color of paint if I decide to change the look and color scheme of a room. Wallpaper aside, this is a beautiful home and I love the attention to the details. I'm eyeing the wooden peg rack in the bedroom. :-))

    1. I do know what you mean! We’ve had accent walls with Designer’s Guild wallpaper in the past and it’s such a faff to remove! Right now I’d rather stick to plain or coloured walls and then put up lots of art.
I love the wooden peg rack too!

  3. This is a wonderful apartment with a nice mix of design elements. I think the William Morris "Chrysanthemum" wallpaper in the bedroom works very well; the "Pimpernel" in the kitchen is a bit too cut up to be successful--those bold patterns need more space to show the repeats effectively.

  4. I think it's lovely! The dining/kitchen space is enviable! I miss living in Europe!

I'd like to try peel and stick wallpaper in the nursery for my upcoming baby (we rent) so hoping to find great sources here in Australia!

    1. There are some really pretty wallpapers about for children. I love the Kubel Collection by Swedish brand Sandberg. But I don’t think they do peel and stick (sounds so much better than glue!!).
