A beautifully captured Danish home

Each season I put a day aside to head over the 'the bridge' to Copenhagen for a day of shopping (&otherstories - have you seen their shoes this autumn?!, Day, Hay, By Malene Birger etc.), lunch and galleries. It's one of my favourite days of the year! Until the day arrives, I'll be taking inspiration from this lovely Danish space belonging to Johanne Dueholm behind 'scandinavian love song'.  Johanne has captured her Aalborg home in a series of close-ups  - each providing a flash of inspiration. Whether it's sheepskin draped over a mid-century rocker, a cheese plant on the floor, a montage of polaroids, or Normann Copenhagen pockets instead of a bedside table. Let's take a tour...

Photography: Johanne Dueholm, scandinavian long song.

Perfect mid-week inspiration!

Are there any ideas which stand out to you?

There are so many pieces I love in this home I'm not sure where to start. OK then....let's take it from the top - Sitting room: String shelving system, sheepskin throw, Flos 265 light. You can buy most of these prints here. Office: download the retro flip clock screen saver. Thonet 214 chairs, 'For Rest' print. Bedroom: Moebe Frame, Normann Copenhagen pocket organiser, linen bedding, moss knit cushion cover,

Thanks so much to Johanne for the kind permission to share all these pics. If you'd like to see more of her home it's well worth checking out her fab IG gallery.

More beautiful Danish home inspiration includes the home of a typographer,  an architect's apartment (with great storage ideas!) and the home of an interior designer. Got to love Danish style?!

Have a wonderful day!

  7. This is a beautiful apartment, I really like the style! Great inspiration.

But let's be honest: I am having a hard time believing the owner actually sits on these Thonet chairs when working. To me they look like she placed them there just for the sake of taking these photos. My parents have (almost?) the exact same chairs and they are as uncomfortable as they look. Fine for a dining room I suppose, but not for prolonged hours of work. Or put differently: If they really are at the desk everyday, then I wouldn't be surprised if displaying the time was the only thing the iMac got used for.

Often times you see Eames DAW chairs supposedly used as work chairs in these home tours. Even that leaves me somewhat skeptic: While I love that series of chairs and while I do think they are rather comfortable for everyday chairs, they aren't office chairs either. But while I can get around that idea, these wooden Thonet chairs are just not practical in the home office. Maybe I'm seeing that too much through the eyes of an IT person.

    1. Interesting comment, and yes, if you sit working day in and day out you should definitely have something comfy and ergonomic. Perhaps many of the home work spaces we see on here are more for a couple of hours here and there to check mails / pay bills etc?
