A simply stunning and calm Swedish space

Sometimes, not very often though, I search and search for the perfect home to post and simply can't find anything. From experience, I know that often this is when the most beautiful home tours of all pop up. And today is one of those days. For me, this home is the epitome of calm, Swedish pared-back simplicity. It has just the right balance of traditional (beautiful period features and architecture, antique and vintage furniture) and modern (brass fittings, grey marble worktop, industrial lights, classic design furniture...) and a wonderful use of natural materials throughout. Beautiful styling by the team at Sarah Widman and definitely worth the wait, don't you think?!

To me this is one of those homes in which you could never feel anything but calm. Just what I needed on a rather hectic Thursday!

Could you live here?

Other lovely spaces for a touch of calm today include this striking danish home (cue: music from that piano), a lovely white and grey Swedish space and the serene home of a Swedish singer here in Malmö. Or perhaps a duvet day in this Danish bedroom could do the trick?!

Have a lovely, relaxed day!

PS If you find some time this weekend,  I'll be holding a fabulous give-away with a very cool, coveted Finnish design prize. I'm sooo excited as I think you're going to love it! Watch this space....

A beautiful Swedish space in calm greys

I've found a way to beat the Monday blues - bring on the greys! This home is the absolute picture of calm with it's all grey colour pallette. And looking at the home tour you'd never guess it's only 25 metres square (270 feet square) - which is itsy bitsy! So what's the trick? Joanna Bagge has decorated it with the same colour theme throughout which gives the space a sense of coherence, the sofa cushions are stored under the sofa-bed by night - ready for the daytime transformation. The dining table is extendable for guests. Wall to ceiling wardrobes have been installed the entire length of the hallway, and the entire home is clutter free. And I bet there's a TV hiding in that lovely cupboard - what do you reckon? Wonderful inspiration for anyone living in a small space or loving grey today!

I could kick of the week here, how about you?

I see they've got a book on noma - one of the world's finest restaurants, in Copenhagen. Oh how I'd love to go! Have you been?

Other details I love - the fresh bunch of peonies on the chair ('tis the season - yay!), the bentwood Thonet chairs. Miro miro  mirror.  Angle cushions / pillow. Hay gym hook (used as towel hook), House Doctor shelves with brass fittings. Hay Bent Wood mirror, Pina low table and beech tote bag (in hallway). Hay work lamp in brass. Artecnica Trianen pendant light. Soft linen bedding. Try Strong White for a similar floor colour.

If you're after more grey inspiration today I'm loving this Stockholm pad, a fabulous all grey Australian home and a small Swedish space.

Have a lovely start to the week!

A Swedish family home outside Stockholm

This is the lovely home of Emma Johansson, Mikael Hedenborn and their baby son Carl-Philip. Located just outside Stockholm and captured by Amelia Widell, the home is full of flee market finds, items from auction and even furniture from their childhood homes. Emma gets most of her interior inspiration from Instagram, Pinterest, blogs and magazines (a girl after my own heart!). Let's take a look around...

I love the tea cups, tins and glass jars used as plant holders and white linen hung over the bed for a romantic feel.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

I'm having a few technical issues this morning (guh, don't you hate it when the Internet won't play ball?!) and creating this post on my miniscule mobile phone screen from a Danish B&B so I apologise for any errors! It's the final day of my Danish photo shoot today so I'm looking forward to heading back to Sweden tonight to see my little family.

Are you up to anything fun?

Have a lovely day!

A striking dark and white Swedish space

I enjoyed touring the world's smallest luxury home (imagine?!) and the Manhatten loft this week, but today I thought we'd return to Sweden with this gem of an apartment. I haven't seen dark floors for a while and I've kinda missed them. The dark wood looks so beautiful against the white and light greys, don't you think? My eyes are on the hallway - with it's start contrast of black and white - so simple yet so striking. And I'd never miss the mid-century touch (side-table, mirror...) and plants and flowers in every corner. Lovely!

What a great space - is there anything you love in particular?

More lovely dark floor spaces here and here (proof they look fab in a small space too!). Or why not go all out dark like this Australian summer house?!

A few tips on where things are from (as always jump in in the comment section below if I've missed anything!): Knitted pouf, DLM side tableTom Dixon beat light, Bertoia chair (by the desk), RENARP desk light, Frama E27 light is similar (in kitchen).

My V.V.V.I.P guest (Mum) has arrived from London - yay! And in true Swedish style we're heading out of the city to enjoy a few days at the cottage. I love the whole Scandinavian summer cottage concept- there's something about going back to basics and living the quiet life for a few days. You can see some of my favourites here.

Since I'm hoping to spend a lot of time outdoors while I'm up on the West coast, I'm turning to the great outdoors in tomorrow's post too with some terrace and backyard inspiration....see you tomorrow!

And have a lovely day...I hope the sun's shining where you are too?!

A dreamy white and grey Swedish space

Wake up it's a beautiful morning! At least if you imagine you're floating around this dreamy white Swedish apartment. Styled for sale by Stadshem, the space has been decorated almost entirely in white and light wood, with the faintest touches of greys. A perfect way to start the week, don't you think?

Styling: @Blackbirdstyle & Emma Hos. Photo: Bodil Bergqvist. Stadshem.
A few items I know and love: sitting room - sofa / throw on sofa / grey floor lamp / e27 light / Gothenburg print / butterfly chair. Source a similar macrame wall hanging  (love the DIY version hanging in Kaisa's bedroom). Kitchen: Menu chair, Thonet chair, rattan Rug, Artek stools.

Pssst! At the time of writing the post I wasn't sure where the lovely throw on the sofa and throw on the bed were from - now I am able to update the post! Thank you lovely anonymous commenter!

More dreamy white, light wood and grey homes here, here and here. And if you'd like to get the look in your workspace - this white and wood office is perfection!

Have a lovely start to the week!
