Cool industrial meets cosy rustic in a Swedish home conversion

Will you look at that? it's Friday already - love that! Have you got any fun plans for the weekend? As always I'd love to be heading off somewhere remote like this cabin, which is not possible - but I might try to go for a hike in Söderåsen national park. This beautiful home would also be on the agenda if it were available for rent. Tony and Åsa Löfling set about converting the former goldsmith's workshop and store into the fab home it is today with the help of Tony's cousin - architect Johan Israelson.  Located in rural Västmanland, the space has been decorated using a blend of cool industrial, concrete and steel against cosy sheepskins, rattan and wood to create a surprisingly warm, cocoon-like feel. Perfect inspiration for a chilly Autumn weekend, don't you agree?!

What a great space!

Loving the wine rack on the ceiling with it's own personal ladder. Now if that's not inspiration for the weekend I don't know what is. Do you think they take the ladder away during the week?!

Quick guide: Source similar vintage industrial pendants, grey sheepskin throws, retro school chairs,  and dark grey linen bedding. Vitra hang-it-all (15% off with code MYSCAN). Bert & May sell lovely handmade floor tiles like the ones in the bathroom.

Absolutely love the concrete dining table - here's how to make one yourself (DIY project for the weekend?!).

Other fab vintage / industrial style homes include an artist's home in a former factory, a beautiful industrial-inspired home and cafe. a home with grey and a mix of old and new.

I must say, I absolutely love this style. Is this your kind of home?

And finally....

I'm absolutely loving cool online kids shop Loja Dada (the clothes are a-ma-zing!).  And they're offering all readers free shipping until 30th November - use code 'SCANDIHOME' at checkout. So excited!

And speaking of kids - how pretty is this and this wardrobe? Makes me want to scour my local flea market and get painting.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

PS Have you downloaded your free printable 2016 calendar yet? We'd love to see it - #mshcalendar2016.

    1. It's such a beautiful park - if you can spend days hiking in it moving from hut to hut - but I think I'll stick to the short route this time!! :) Hope you have a great weekend too!

  4. Love the tiled floor in the bathroom, do you think there is a risk it is a fashionable now though and will look dated soon? Would be the only thing that would put me off going for a statement floor like that.

Love the wine rack and ladder! What a feature!

    1. Good question - and I was chatting to someone else about this just the other day. As much as I'd love some mosaic tiles in my bathroom to be on the safe side I personally would go for a more classic look like black and cream squares. The friend I was chatting to reckoned that mosaic tiles would be around for a long time yet though and she'd still go for the mosaics....interested to know other thoughts on this....

    2. Oh and Cas, your text made me laugh.....that ladder could be a little lethal at midnight on a saturday night- especially in your house!!!

  5. Ok, I probably just spent more time than what is deemed normal on the second image. That glass divider, that wine story solution- that is everything.
Also, that hang it all (same color as shown here) is so on my wish list..
    Have a wonderful hike/weekend Niki!
