Inspiration from a lovely Swedish home in white

Hello! I'm trying to write this post with one foot raised in the air, no easy feat I can tell you! You may remember a few weeks back I snapped my achilles tendon half off (ouch) and now I have to wear this boot for 8 weeks! I can only describe it as doing everything with one ski boot on - photo shoots, writing my book, errands, even sleeping (if ever there was an excuse for apres ski!)! And I've been told to keep it raised to reduce the swelling too - needless to say things are running a little slower than usual. But it has given me the excuse for lots of time lounging in my window nook (every cloud... as they say!). I noticed that when styling this lovely home in Gothenburg, Emma Fischer has also gone for the Söderhamn series - but opted for three in a row to make a luxuriously deep sofa.  What a great idea! In fact, I think I need something like this in my own home. The rest of the apartment is pretty nice too, don't you think?

I do love that sitting room! The white, all the plants.... even the TV looks good! Could you imagine lazing around there?

Get the look: sitting room: Söderhamn sofa series, Z1 pendant light (same as in my bedroom), Round chair, this round mirror is similar. hallway: Swedish Hasbeen sandals. Balcony: House of Rym sells beautiful cushions.

For more homes with a lovely white touch check out this archive (if this home comes up first just scroll passed).  Oh so serene! You can never go wrong with white, don't you think?

Have a lovely day!

A romantic holiday home in the South of France

Hej hej! How was your weekend? It sort of went passed in a blur didn't it? Here in Sweden we're zooming towards the summer holidays and many children are breaking up this week (mine included). Aaagh! I'm nowhere near ready! Even so, I can't stop dreaming about the impending care-free days  and enjoying a slower pace. Plus, I have a long list of holiday homes up my sleeve. One such place is Cammellas Lloret. You may recognise this beautiful maison d'hôte in Carcassonne, South of France from this feature. Understandably, I couldn't resist sharing a few more snapshots of this beautiful space captured by Julie Pointer Adams. Could you imagine spending your holiday there too?!

Photography: Julie Pointer Adams (shared with kind permission), featured in Architectural Digest.

Doesn't it look so romantic? Owners Annie and Colin Moore have done such a great job delicately restoring it. It remains as though it's been completely untouched by the hands of time. Beautiful

Find out more about how to book a room at the timeless Cammellas Lloret here.

It's always great to get in touch with photographers and this time I was especially excited to see that the shutterbug behind these shots,  Julie Pointer Adams, has released a new book - Wabi-Sabi Welcome - learn to embrace the imperfect and entertain with throughtfulness and ease - definitely my type of entertaining,  I must get my hands on a copy right away! Does this appeal to you too?

Have a great start to the week!

A beautiful Swedish apartment in the attic

Tjohoo! I've got a feeling this is going to be a great weekend! Tomorrow I'm heading off on a road trip to Denmark with my Danish friend Daphne to shoot a wonderful home - so excited! I hope to be able to share it with you next week! Have you got any fun plans? Before we all get carried away by the fact that it's FRIDAY (woohoo!) I've got a really gem of a home to share with you. This lovely space is a lesson in creating a stunning light-filled home in the attic!  Measuring a mere 60 metres square (645 feet square)- what it lacks in size it makes up for in style. Look out for the clever space saving tricks such as the narrow table in the hallway, and the way they've used an open-plan design, dividing windows, white washed walls and light wood floors to lighten up the living space.

What a wonderful space, don't you think?

I love how the sofa is placed on the diagonal - something you don't always think about when planning a room (the desk in the Italian holiday home I featured yesterday was also placed in the same way - although there were a few fun comments here, asking why it wasn't facing out towards the fabulous view! I can't help thinking I'd only day-dream had it been facing outwards.Which way would you have it?).

Get the look: bedroom - source a beni ourain rug here, I love this lavender linen duvet cover, these wall lamps are similar. Dining area: the bowl is from the JASSA collection by IKEA.

Right, better get ready for that shoot tomorrow. Denmark here I come!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

Italian holiday home full of art and design

When it comes to holidays, finding the right accommodation is crucial but it takes so much time?  Last night, for example, I spent the best part of the evening searching for somewhere to stay on Long Island, New York and I still haven't found anywhere - (tips welcome!). Even though I haven't sorted my own holiday plans  - I might just be able to help you with yours.  If you're heading to Italy this summer, how about staying at the beautiful Villa Bianca on the Sorrento coast? The white washed villa has large, cool rooms filled with design and contemporary art - and there's even a desk in case you're meant to be "working" (ideal!).  But the pièce de résistance has to be the roof terrace and pool which offer the most amazing views over the Gulf of Naples and the island of Capri. Bellissimo!

Photography: Yvonne Wilhelmsen. Styling Tone Kroken. Villa Bianca is available to rent through ALBELI.

I could quite happily laze in that pool right now, how about you?!

Inside I spy the Flos Arco floor light and Eames lounge chair and ottoman - anything catch your eye?

Villa Bianca is available to rent here (see more picture here).

Check out this archive if you'd like to see more beautiful holiday rentals - (pure distraction!). I also love my swimming pool, ocean and travel boards over on Pinterest! As they say 'spend money on experiences, not things'!
