The beautiful, bold home of a Swedish graphic designer

Hello! I do believe it's the end of the week - woop! Any fun plans for the weekend? We're going to take it easy, but I confess I'll need to do just a little work as the deadline for my next book (about the Swedish philosophy of lagom) is looming...! Eeeek! Before I continue to tap away I'd like to take a moment to revel in the beauty of this Swedish home with you! The dark blue, light blue, grey and green accents, the vintage furniture, the botanical touches - the details - everything! The home of graphic designer Cecilia Hedin is perfect inspiration for anyone looking to channel the dark, bold trend sweeping the interior world right now, or simply looking for a way to update your home with small details (and even display your wifi code!). Step this way...

I love the desk area in particular. And the wallpaper in the hallway, would you dare?!

It's also amazing what a difference traditional baker lights and switches can make to a space too.

Is there anything you love about this space?

Get the look: office - this green filing cabinet is similar. Pick up a vintage wood and metal office chair here. Kitchen - Ant chairs, sheepskin throwHallway - this monstera / cheese plant wallpaper is similar.

If you have a moment, you can check out home-owner Cecilia Hedin's wonderful creative work here.

And for more home inspiration, take a peek at a load more spaces with beautiful blue here.

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

PS Take a peek inside Marianne's magical Norwegian mountain cabin captured for The Scandinavian Home (I also had the pleasure of staying there for a few days in January and it was just as magical in the snow!). So cosy!

A Swedish home with blue and mustard accents

Hejsan! As promised, I did actually accost my man as soon as he arrived home yesterday to show him the house that had come on the market (the subject of yesterday's post). He agreed that it was indeed perfection - although I don't think we're quite ready to our leave our home by the sea just yet! Guh! And I was already sipping cocktails by that plunge pool too! Onwards and upwards. Today's post brings with it new inspiration in the form of a lovely home in Gothenburg. The apartment occupies part of a house built in the 1930's and has been beautifully styled with mid-century and contemporary pieces, lots of lovely greenery and blue, cognac and mustard accents. Enjoy!

Such a lovely space don't you think? Love the touch of blue and mustard in particular - and the foliage over the bed!

How about you?

Get the look: sitting room - source a similar vintage mid-century arm chair here, this is a good place to pick up a small beni ourain rug. I love this blue armchair. Dining room - Series 7 chairs. Bedroom - pick up stonewashed grey linen bedding here and a mustard throw here.

Have a lovely day!

PS Thank you for your patience during the blog design update - I know there have been a few disturbances but I think we're almost there. Do give me a shout in the comment section below if you see anything strange - your feedback would be so helpful!

A 19th century Swedish home with an outdoor oasis

I'm curious - what would you say the best thing about summer is? For me, it's the time spent outdoors. I love how you can throw the doors and windows open in the morning and stride around barefoot all day. We have a very small backyard, which does the trick (on the whole) but when I spotted this Swedish home which went out on the market this week it was hard to not jump straight in the car and head over for a viewing! Located in Landskrona, here on the south west coast of Sweden, the late 19th century house belongs to designer and architect Robin Berkhuizen (if you don't already follow Robin on Instagram, you must!). The white property has been beautifully renovated to reveal original brickwork and beams while at the same time transforming the interior into the magnificent family home it is today. And just look at that outdoor oasis?!

Could you imagine living here? I think I need to have words with the man when he gets home!

You can see more pics of this magical home over on Robin's instagram feed and find out more information about the sale here.

Oh and on an entirely separate note - you may have noticed some changes going on around here with my blog design! I felt it was time for a subtle refresh and am working with the talented Ana Dagenaar of Blog Milk Design to give My Scandinavian Home a little bit of a face lift. There may be some disturbances over the next few days - but I hope it should all be up and running by the end of the week. Do let me know if you spot anything strange, you're missing anything or simply have a thought about the design you would like to share. I'm all ears! Thank you!

Have a lovely day!

Get the look: inspiring sitting room of an interior designer

Well hello there! I had a great start to the week yesterday with a photo shoot at my friend, interior designer Genevieve Jorn's home in the centre of Malmö. If you're an avid reader of My Scandinavian Home I'm sure you're already familiar with Gen's home - we've been following her fabulous renovation one room at a time over the past year (take a peek inside her kitchen, office and bedroom). And now, with a little help from beautiful danish brand Nordal, a selection of art and her tree, 'Benjamin'- her sitting room and dining area is now complete! Here are a few shots from the cosy living area where Gen, her husband Kasper and cutest little Olivia love to hang out!

Photography: Niki Brantmark - My Scandinavian Home. Styling: Genevieve Jorn - interior designer.

What a great space? I secretly wanted to stay and hang out right there on the sofa all week!

I especially love how the space is filled with art, personal touches and a mix of old and new.

The wooden pharmacy sideboard, console, and dining table compliment the original herringbone floor and add a wonderful warmth to the room - and the plants truly bring it to life (Gen bought 'Benjamin' from an online second hand store for a song! It's so worth keeping an eye out for bigger plants online - businesses are often selling them off!

Is there anything you love in particular about this space?

Get the look from Gen's sitting room:

1. This wall decoration with beads is similar 2. Fur cushion 3. Console table 4. Pharmacy sideboard 5. Wooden stool 6. Garden pot grey 7. Garden pot, natural

If you're wondering about any of the other items give me a shout in the comment section below and I'll do my best to help.

Have a great day!

PS Nordal ships throughout Europe.

The post is brought to you in collaboration with Nordal. However, all words are my own and I only ever work with brands I absolutely love and think you will too! Thank you for supporting the businesses that help bring fresh content to your mail box and make My Scandinavian Home possible.

A lovely, light, Swedish split-level

Hej hej! I hope you had a lovely weekend?  It was a long bank holiday here and the Swedish sun shone down on us from start to finish so we did our best to soak it up and store it up! There's something beautiful about the incredibly sharp Nordic light and feeling the warmth of the sun's rays on your skin at 8pm - so magical!  This Swedish space high up in the roof tops of Gothenburg looks as though it might just be bright all year round though! Decorated in white and pale grey with sheer curtains and soft textiles throughout, it's a true oasis in the heart of the city!

Photography: Jonas Berg Styling: Grey Deco  / For sale through Stadshem.

It looks as though the second floor was created from converted attic space - hence the white spiral staircase (love that, how about you?!). The original pattern in the glass windows of the dividing doors and the coat rack in the hall caught my eye, lovely!

Any tips on where the coat rack is from?

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Get the look:  sitting room - the söderhamn sofa from IKEA, Flos 2097 pendant light, Jetson armchair by Bruno Mathsson. Office: wishbone chair, lonely house print, source made to measure white linen curtains here. Bedroom - string shelves, söderhamn section from IKEA.

I'm on an all day photo shoot today - very exciting as it's been a while since I got my camera out! Go, go go! It's going to be hawwwwt again today so I hope I'll have time for one of these afterwards - I'll totally deserve it right? I think you should join me! yum?!

Have a great start to the week!

PS Thank you so much to Victoria over at wonderful blog SF Girl By Bay for the lovely review of
my book, you've put a smile on my face since Thursday!
