A serene Swedish home in muted green and grey

Hello! I hope you had a wonderful weekend?! Spring is officially here in Malmö - our boat was put back in the water, yay! Now for some sunshine (and downtime!).... . I thought I'd kick off the week with this lovely Swedish family home found over at Entrance Mäkleri. The open-plan space has been decorated throughout in muted greens and light greys and has the most beautiful architecture. I couldn't imagine a hectic Monday morning here, could you?

Entrance / Photograhy: Anders Bergstedt.

Lovely! The traditional Swedish 'Kakelugn' in the nursery is so charming, don't you think? I love how it can be seen across the flat too.

Other items I know and love: terrarium used as a candle holder (I love this one!), the shoe cabinet by the door is by IKEA and has been updated with leather handles, House Doctor glass bauble cluster light. Source gold / brass candle holders here. This silver toy car is similar.

This really made me laugh: 15 tips that will trick your house guests into thinking you have your sh*t together. Have you used any of these?!

Have a great start to the week!

PS our boat is available to charter if you fancy a jaunt on the Öresund and a sail under that bridge!

Boho interior inspiration with sustainable living tips and tricks

While yesterday's interior inspiration was about keeping it simple, today's is about keeping it real. And IKEA's new book Kinder Homes is absolutely crammed with inspiring, creative tips, tricks and ideas on how to do this. From saving water, energy and waste to recycling and reuse, the book helps us to lead a more sustainable life at home - and judging by the imagery, make our interiors beautiful at the same time. Really, what's not to love?!

I can't decide if I prefer the more modern look of the first three images or boho rustic look of the last three? - which do you prefer? Either way, it looks like there's plenty of inspiration for all and we get ideas on how to live more sustainably too. Perfect!

The book is available in IKEA stores, and it's worth checking out the IKEA website for some of the items you see in these spaces (I spy a lot from the lovely SINNERLIG collection), but for others I'm loving this vintage industrial desk chair (quick snap that up!), Swedish rag rugs, rattan daybed and a silk kimono rob.

Other links I love today....

Pretty balcony inspiration. Or....if you fancy staying in bed.

I've finally found where to buy those clay urns we keep seeing in home tours (beautiful?!)

Love the look of a kilim rug against concrete.

The cutest side table.

I do like the idea of throwing caution to the wind and buying an old bakery on the beautiful Swedish island of Gotland. how about you? Sadly this was sold a few years ago, but it doesn't stop me dreaming! More homes from Gotland (incase you missed them) include this, this and this - heaven!

Right folks that's all for me, have a lovely day and see you tomorrow!

PS To you wonderful style gurus out there, I'm looking for a spring bomber jacket for my 7 year old (who's more the height of a 10 year old)  - any tips? This one could be cute?

A lovely clutter-free, light and airy Swedish pad

Keeping it simple in Sweden today with this light and airy space in Majorna, Gothenburg. Decorated throughout with very light wood floors, the palest grey walls and a lovely mix of old and new, this lovely clutter-free one bedroom apartment is like a mid-week breath of fresh air! Oh and did I mention it's for sale?!

Kvarteret Mäkleri
....And breathe!

Just lovely! Makes me want to go through my wardrobes and have a de-clutter! How about you?

I know I'm likely to get the question - where are the rugs?! Firstly this apartment has been staged for sale so I'm guessing the guys at Kvarteret Mäkleri would like to show-off those beautiful floors (and who can blame them?!). And secondly, Swedish apartments are incredibly well insulated so the wood floor will be draft-free and lovely and soft and warm. Having said that, I'm sure the (lucky) new owner will add a few fab rugs - how lovely was the one in yesterday's post? Feel free to wade in in the comment section below!

Get the look: O coffee table, Patterned and Jacquard Weave cushion in white, Marshall speakers, this bed frame and clothes rail are similar.

Other mid-week links I love:

Ever wondered how the latest interior trends started?

I was so happy to see My Scandinavian Home was included in Swedish magazine Hus o Hem's list of 9 interior blogs to follow. Thank you!

Cute spring style (sneakers), And moodboard.

Wood's sneaking it's way into the home more and more. As seen in this lovely Australian home.

How quickly would you pulse come down in this pool?!

And for the little ones, how cute are these limited edition paddle people?

Have a lovely day!

An elegant, understated modern farmhouse

I was awoken by the eery sound of a ships fog horn cutting through the dense fog over the Öresund strait. It definitely made a change from the harsh trill of my mobile alarm clock, but being a sailor, the sound always makes me fill a little uneasy! The fog's lifted now and so have my spirits - mainly due to stumbling across this beautiful space designed by Griffiths Design Studio. Situated on the Mornington Peninsula, Southeast of Melbourne, Main Ridge Farmhouse is a lesson in elegant, understated style. The rich texture from the French oak floor, wood clad wall and sheepskins add warmth to create a relaxed modern home which reflects it's rural surroundings. Let's take a peek....

What a lovely, elegant space!  I especially like the wooden side-table - it has such character!

Is there anything that stands out to you about this farmhouse?

Items I know and love: sitting room - grasshopper floor lamp, rug by Halcyon Lake, muuto dots and vase, this cognac leather cushion is similar. Kate Moss Book, wishbone chair, sheepskin throw. Bedroom: Eames house bird, this grey linen throw is similar. By lassen frame box.

Have a lovely day!

A Danish home with a lovely relaxed vibe

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend and feel all ready for the week ahead (although, does anyone else find that Tuesday feels like the real start of the week i.e. when you're actually ready to get anything done?!). Today I'd rather take it easy and muse over this beautiful Danish space. Located in Denmark and captured by Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer, I love the way the space is fairly minimalist and pared-back and yet lovely and relaxed. It helps that the apartment has beautiful high ceilings, herringbone floors and large rooms too!  Let's take a tour....

I especially loved the children's room (I like how it looks 'loved and lived in' in these pictures, so refreshing?!). Did you notice that little collection of hats too?! This room's going straight to my children's inspiration Pinterest board

Is there anything that stood out to you?

Get the look: Eames chairs, vintage demijohns in lovely blues and greens, pom poms, sheepskin throw, vintage school chair, Loom + Field sells Moroccan wedding blankets (seen on bed) as well as other beautiful things.

I'm still reeling just a little from Friday's post. And I was soooo happy that Cathy Pyle could tell us a little more about the owner / interior designer on Instagram over the weekend. It makes me realise what a great online network we all have!

Have a lovely day!
