A new build home that dreams are made of

Have you ever dreamt of buying a plot of land and building the home of your dreams? Anne, a midwife, single-mum and co-founder of Birkaboo, a Swedish company providing quality homes at an affordable price, has done exactly that. Villa Birkeland in Saltsjö-Boo was built and decorated in just four months and pays homage to the company's promise: build your own place where you can live, gather strength and meet tomorrow.  I think I could do just that in Anne's wonderful home, don't you? Now, where's that plot of land...

Could you live here?

Do you dream about building your own home one day? Or perhaps you have already, in which case we'd love to see some pictures!

If you like the cabin feel, I'll never tire of this sustainable Finnish cabin, or scrolling though this archive of wood cabins. One day….

Before I head off….I'm so excited to welcome new sponsor Occa-Home - a fab online interior design store selling items from some of my absolute favorite scandinavian brands such as &Tradition, By Nord, and Design House Stockholm among others.  Thank you for supporting the wonderful businesses who make this blog possible.

Have a lovely day!

A relaxed and inviting Stockholm space

There are a few things about this Stockholm space that stand out. In the kitchen for example, I'm loving the black gloss units combined with light grey marble splash back / work surface and the cosy window nook - perfect for a pensive coffee break don't you think? Hello 'nook board'! I also like the striking library wall in the dining room. Sometimes dining rooms can feel a bit cold and formal, but the rows of books and LPs make this space feel so relaxed and inviting, at least in my eyes? All in all, there's some great inspiration to be taken from this apartment, I hope you find something that inspires you too!

Anything you noticed in particular?

I actually mistook the blanket for stacked fire logs at first, do you think this was intended? It certainly adds warmth to the room and sits nicely beside the traditional Swedish kakelugn.

I love the dotty bedding too but can't find where it's from- any tips?! In my search I found this very cool IKAT bedding though- see it in action here. Great alternative perhaps?! More fab bedroom inspiration for the perfect duvet day here, here and here.

On an entirely different note, I've always loved Facebook and Pinterest. But this year I've also got totally into Instagram (@myscandinavianhome) too. I was never not there, but it was only recently I discovered the value in it and really enjoy discovering the beautiful images people post, are you on there too? If so, let's hang out!

Have a lovely day!

Tina Fussell's lovely Danish home

Hello! I hope you had a great weekend? I'm not sure if you remember, but last summer I had a visit from the wonderful stylist Holly Marder and photographer Jansje Klazinga (resulting in these shots of my home). As part of their tour they also photographed Tina Fussell's home in Copenhagen. I've had the pleasure of meeting Tina of Traveling Mamma several times and she's as lovely as she is talented (Tina works as a stylist, blogger and photographer. Tina and her husband and two children recently returned after a six month stint in their home country of the USA.  Her lovely Danish home is featured in this month's edition of Dutch magazine Ariadne at Home. Here's a sneak peek.

Welcome home the Fussell's!

There are so many great things about Tina's home - the inspiring office space, a bathroom cabinet updated with leather handles, or how about the black accent wall in the kitchen? I really love the hints of light blue too, it makes me want to block paint an item in my own kitchen, how about you?

Other fab spaces with a touch of blue include this, this and this one. Which shade would you choose?

Before I head off - I have some exciting news. This spring I'll be taking the stage at The Hive 2015 - a gathering of digital storytellers, tastemakers and bloggers in Berlin. Seeing my name among the list of speakers makes it scarily real and so exciting - I can't wait to share some of the things I've learned about blogging over the years. I must admit I'm slightly fearful of public speaking but was inspired to step out of my comfort zone by these quotes (so true don't you think?!). Will you be there too?

Have a lovely day!
