A touch of colour in a light and airy Swedish home

Here's a colour I haven't seen for a while. Orange. I've never been a fan but I'm starting to change my mind, how about you? I especially love burnt orange combined with olive green. This charming and meticulously renovated early 20th century Swedish apartment has been painted white and colours like orange have been added in the form of textiles, cushions and lighting. The space looks out over a lush courtyard and has beautiful wood floors, and period features. I could pad around here on a Thursday, how about you?!

Alvhem
Rather nice don't you think? I love the high ceilings.

A few items that stand out: Thonet 214 dining chairs (15% discount with code MYSCAN) and Ferm Living harlequin grey wallpaper in the kitchen. La Voliere Pendant Light  and vintage leather chair (try LiveAuctioneers for similar) in the sitting room.  7 chair (try here for vintage version) and monthly wall planner in the office space which was designed by my neighbour's company All The Way To Paris for Hay.

I also love the Yoko Ono poster - it's from a recent exhibition at Louisiana in Copenhagen I've had a browse on their online shop but couldn't find it - perhaps I need to visit the museum shop in person...if I needed an excuse....:)

Other favourite Swedish apartments today include this, this and this one.

Have a lovely Thursday!

The cool Copenhagen home of a typographer

It's been ages since I showed a Danish home. I don't know why as I absolutely lovely the Danish style and I'm lucky enough to live just over the bridge from Copenhagen - one of the coolest cities in the world (in my eyes anyway?)! This three room apartment in the Nørrebro a cool quarter of the Danish capital belongs to Kathrine Højriis and Thomas Bærnholdt, owners of positive poster company I Love My Type. The furniture has been selected simply because they love it, and the walls are adorned with an array of wonderful prints including some of their own.

Photographs: Birgitta Wolfgang Drejer. Femina. Thank you to Coco Lapine Design for the inspiration.

Fabulous home don't you think?

When I wrote to Kathrine yesterday to ask permission to show her home, Thomas answered straight away: ' I just told Kathrine about your mail and she's very happy that you want to share our home and says 'hello' from across our shared office desk'.

I thought it was such a lovely reply - not only does it sound like a wonderful work environment but the response also represents the positive energy instilled in the ethos behind I Love My Type. The ILMT webshop is a self proclaimed- cool typographical poster universe with posters that will inspire you to make a different to others and benefit fully from what life has to offer. You can even get personalised posters made! I'm on it!

Thank you Kathrine and Thomas for sharing your beautiful home.

Other Danish apartments I absolutely love include the home of a Danish architect, a Danish oasis in Cannes and the home of a Danish stylist. if you do one thing this morning - pour yourself a latte and drool over these!

Have a lovely day!

Natalie's oh so cosy and beautiful bedroom

Morning! I was chatting with a friend yesterday who happened to grow up in the same south coast village as the idyllic fisherman's cottage I showed yesterday. As children they used to say the house was haunted! I'm really curious to know whether you believe in haunted houses or ghosts? I was thinking about it and if I was hanging out in the house in the day time I probably wouldn't think about it. But if I were to sleep a night alone my imagination might just start getting the better of me?! How about you? I'm sure however, that if I slept a night in this bedroom below belonging to Natalie of hey natalie jean blog, I might just sleep like a baby....

Hey Natalie Jean. With kind permission.

I spy (because we definitely need to know where things in this beautiful bedroom are from): swiss dot bedding from West Elm (sold out sadly).  A Tasseltry by Hackwith Design House (I've never seen one of these before - they're designed according to the ancient idea of bringing warmth and beauty to a space). Bamboo lamp (on floor), Pia Wallen cross blanket. The rug is from ebay (according to Natalie this is the best place to find a Turkish kilim). And you can pick up a sheepskin from black sheep (white light).

Read more about Natalie's beautiful bedroom and where she sourced items from here, if you'd like.

Oh and I have an exciting new sponsor to introduce to you. Illori is a newly launched online store owned by Kim Ronnerfors, an artist and interior designer with Scandinavian roots (love the store already!). The shop specialises in minimalist pieces with an international influence. I already have my eye on one the bowls and soft knitted blankets, how about you?

Have a lovely day!
