A lovely 'lived in' apartment

My love affair with monochrome is no secret, even more so if it includes white floors or at least beautiful aged light wood floorboards (cue: The Reclaimed Flooring Co). Which is why I like this apartment currently for sale through Stadshem.. The space has been heavily staged but you can still see the personality of the owners shining through (they love music, monochrome, minalism and marmalade and orange juice for breakfast (perhaps)! All in all it has a lovely 'lived in' feel, just as a home should.

My mind is still on the lovely desk fan. Our bedroom us baking hot at night and we're in need of a fan, which has to not only keep me cool but look cool too naturally! I found some fab ones on Etsy here, here and here.

PS I received two prints in the post from Elina Dahl yesterday (remember her lovely home?). Not only were the prints (here and here) beautiful but the way they were packaged was too - thank you Elina!

A Swedish home in perfect harmony

Why hello there Monday! Can I just launch straight into the home tour today? Only because I can't wait for you to feel the harmonious vibe from every room in this beautiful Swedish home. The soft serene tones, the cosy blankets, that piano.  This space really is the perfect remedy for anyone having a hectic start to the week! Enjoy!

Credits: Photography: Janne Olander styling: Grey Deco for Stadshem found here with thanks.

....isn't this space lovely?!

My favourite thing has to be that piano, how about you? One of my little girls asked if she could start learning to play the other day and as you can imagine I was overly encouraging (you only have to see this Pinterest board to understand why!!)- and then PB informed me that they learn on keyboards these days. Seriously?! Please tell me this is not so?!

Do you have a piano in your home?

A few other items I know and love: kitchen: dough bowl (if that one is sold try here for other beautiful ones) series 7 chairs. sitting room - blanket, linen cushions in muted tones, butterfly chair, karlstad sofa. Office / bedroom: white bentwood chairs, sheepskin throw, lovely heavy weight linen throw in black.

You can see more pics of this serene space over at Stadshem  (it's for sale....yup!).

Have a wonderful start to the week!

A very cool Swedish apartment

From mid-century yesterday to modern edge today. This Swedish home for sale through Stadshem is so great. I love the art photography  and the fantastic moodboards. I also like the open wardrobes - not sure mine would be quite as great if they were open to the world - and of course the beautiful original flooring.

Because not all home floors are born equal you can always go to a reclaimed flooring company such as this one for a little help to achieve the same effect. I can't help with the clothes in the wardrobe though! - although  I am currently loving the style blog Lovely Pepa!

What do you like about this space?

A light and airy white and grey Swedish apartment

Hello Monday! How was your weekend? I thought I'd kick off the week with something light, bright and airy. A classic white and grey Swedish apartment with light wood floors and white walls owned and styled by Hanna Malmberg. I could kick around here this lovely sunny Monday morning, how about you?

So beautifully styled by Stadshem for the sale don't you think?

I am seeing the Muuto Dots Hanger everywhere right now. Here, they've used the small and medium natural oak version to add interest to a wall in the bedroom.

I love the white floor in the kitchen (practical though?). I was in my neighbour's home over the weekend (it's like something out of Birds of a Feather in my neighbourhood!) and noticed she'd painted her wood floor white over Easter. The floor was a tightly joined smooth oak finish before so I wasn't sure how it was going to turn out - but it looks incredible! I'm wondering if I should paint my bedroom floor white now, what do you think?

Other beautiful white and grey spaces include the home of By Nord owners, the fantastic home of a creative Finnish duo and a wonderful Danish home.

Have a lovely day!

A stunning Gothenburg home with a black floor

The Friday home tour always calls for something extra special. So this morning I've been hunting high and low for a space which I think is simply amazing. And this is it. A Gothenburg apartment with beautiful high ceilings, white walls and grounded by a black floor to create a homely feel. I love the cognac and grey accents and the beautiful classical wishbone (or CH24) chairs in the dining room too. What a fabulous home, don't you think?!

What do you love about this home?

You can take a look through the entire Stadshem archive (for beautiful home after beautiful home inspiration) here.

Incidentally I can't believe how popular yesterday's home tour was. On Facebook alone it's already received over 470 likes and 23 shares - incredible! So great to see!

Before I head off, I've got a quick reminder: I'll be holding a really exciting weekend give-away here on My Scandinavian Home over the next two days so don't forget to stop by and enter, it will be open to everyone!

Have a lovely day!

A white Gothenburg apartment

What would a week be here on My Scandinavian Home without a home tour from one of my favourite Swedish estate agents?! This home in Gothenburg is a vision in all white softened by the exposed brick wall, black furniture and touches of geometric fabrics. Beautifully styled and photographed by Stadshem.

I think my idea to steal here are the industrial bare lightbulbs in the kitchen hung at different heights. What about you?

PS I spy the very cool Thonet chairs (15% off with discount MYSCAN :) again in the kitchen- they're everywhere this year (the Eames of 2013?). I also spy what looks like the Muuto stacked shelving system in the hallway.

I'm heading off to a great friend of mine's wedding this weekend, so exciting! I hope I'll get the chance to blog tomorrow but in case I don't, have a fantastic weekend!

Two lovely Swedish kitchen tours

There's nothing like a warm, cheerful kitchen to brighten up mornings (and cosy-up evenings). One of my Mum's friends calls the kitchen 'the engine room of the house' - so true don't you think?! To round off the week I thought we could take a tour of two Swedish kitchens. Any Swede will tell you that this is a very classic shape for a kitchen in a city apartment - (eller hur svensk kompisar?). And yet these two spaces have been decorated and organised with subtle differences - both lovely in their own way. The first belongs to interior and food stylist and owner of shop Vintage Fabriken - Linda Hansson and the second apartment is currently on the market through Stadshem. Could you imagine enjoying a slow weekend breakfast here?

I especially love the colours in the first kitchen - with the green, yellow and blue - so warm and inviting. A few tips on where thing are from - 'Willow boughs' wallpaper by William Morris, the children's chair is by Tripp Trapp, RANARP wall/ clamp lamp, oatmeal linen table cloth, Rörstrand mon amie tea cup,   white marble mortar and pestle, Le Sac paper bag, blue kitchen aid.

The second space is also lovely - so calm! Source vintage chopping boards here, This is a great source for vintage bread bins and tin boxes. If you're a fan of wallpaper you'll like the rest of the home too - check it out here.

For more kitchen inspiration today I like 11 ways to add a little shine to your kitchen (fab spaces!).

Other links I like from around the web today:

How cool are these fun black and white prints for children's rooms. In fact - this entire children / Mum blog is pretty great (love these kids sunglasses - might try to squeeze into a pair myself!).

Love these DIY mid-century planters - project for the weekend perhaps?!

With all this snow outside my door I'm thinking tonight could be a cosy one on the sofa eating this brown ale ice-cream with salty caramel and honeyed peanuts or perhaps pumpkin cookie butter ice-cream. Mmmmm!

This home in the outskirts of Malmö is for sale - I'm tempted to go to the viewing on Sunday - could you image the potential?!

I hope you have a really great weekend (up to anything fun?). See you Monday!
