A striking Stockholm home

Goood morning! I hope you had a great weekend? I have to confess to going back to bed with my coffee after the girls left for school this morning (you have to make the most of working from home occasionally, right?!). It was just what I needed to ever so slowly crank into action! And now I'm wide awake having spotted this home for sale at Alexander White. The turn-of-the-century apartment in the heart of Stockholm's Östermalm district has been beautifully curated by Swedish stylist (and blogger) Anna Leena. I particularly love the selection of furniture (that concrete table?!) and the warm cream, chocolate brown, grey and white palette - as well as the slightest hint of spring!

Oj oj oj, this apartment ticks so many boxes - high ceilings, period features, a lovely wooden floor, the swedish 'kakelugn' (tiled oven) and lovely, large spacious rooms. When can I move in? (if only!)....

An awe-inspiring factory conversion

Good news! It's Friday! I hope you've totally rocked the working week or simply powered through everything you had to do - in which case you totally deserve one of these  - skål! Since I'm on a bit of an industrial-style role (with a feature of this fabulous converted warehouse and a review of Sara Emslie's book Urban Pioneer in the last two days alone), I thought I'd complete the week with one final industrial space.  Elze, behind beautiful blog Everything Elze, captured this magnificent home in a former Philips factory in Eindhoven just before the owner Lieke moved out. Simple cognac, wood and black furnishings allow the original features of the building including the vast windows and high, concrete ceiling to take centre-stage, while natural textures and plants bring the living space to life. 

What an incredible place to live, don't you think?!

Could you imagine having the space to have not one but three massive industrial pendants over the dining table?!(They remind me a lot of the ones from my favourite Copenhagen restaurant - Höst which I featured here). Any tips on where to find lamps like these? By the way, I was so pleased to get your tips on the armchair in this post - thank you!

Urban Pioneer: Interiors inspired by Industrial Design

I absolutely love receiving a new book in the post, don't you? The smell of the pages, the anticipation of settling down a little later with a coffee in hand. And today is one of those days. The new book Urban Pioneer: Interiors inspired by industrial design by Sara Emslie has just landed on my doormat. There's something about the rawness of large, spacious rooms and the rustic feel of ex-industrial spaces that is simply awe inspiring. And Sara's wonderful book is packed with industrial-design inspiration, beautiful images and styling tips from homes set in the most magnificent buildings including: a warehouse in London, a former dockworker canteen in Amsterdam and a converted feather factory in Brooklyn. Here's a sneak peek......

Now all I need is a conversion of my own. I've always quite fancied a windmill (or even a lighthouse!), how about you?

Sara is a stylist and writer based in London (actually not far from where I grew up). You may recognise the name from her best selling first book: Beautifully Small: Clever Ideas for Compact Spaces (which I reviewed here).

A home inside the shell of a magnificent old warehouse

Someone left a little note in the comment section last week asking for more colour. Being into Scandinavian style I have to admit to being... er... more than a little colour shy (as you know!). However, I stumbled across this lovely space in a magnificent converted warehouse (styled by Australian homeware store Hunting for George) the other day and felt that although it's not positively bursting with colour, it does feature lovely pops of blue, pink, yellow and orange as well as some fab artwork which might just add a little ray of sunshine to someone's day! Checkout the beautiful decayed brickwork, high ceilings and magnificent arched windows too!

What a fabulous space! Wouldn't it be amazing to live in a conversion? So much history!

I also love these converted schools, warehouses, barns, bars  and vicarages.

I've been lucky enough to visit not one but two converted schools lately. You might remember my friend Louise's home which went on the market a few weeks back (there was my chance damn it!). And we also photographed a wonderful apartment in an old school house in Norway for The Scandinavian Home. It belonged to artist Maria Øverby and was suoer relaxed and full of character and inspiring details, the team had to drag me out of there at the end of the day!
