A super stylish get-away in Northern Sweden

I hope you had a great weekend?! I'm often receiving mails from readers asking for suggestions of wonderful places to stay in Sweden. And today I found a new tip - SÃ¥gverket - an oh so cool youth hostel / conference centre in Northern Sweden. Described recently in Residence magazine as Norrland's super stylish hang out, SÃ¥gverkat is a got-to place for romantic weekends, creative conference or simply somewhere to relax and get-away from it all in a stylish environment. Personally I'd go there just to enjoy the decor and scenery alone how about you?! But we all need to be quick, it's up for sale. Anyone sitting at their desk this Monday morning feeling like a new challenge?!

Tempted?!

Today is my eldest daughter's first day at school. I thought she was so big until I dropped her off at the school gate this morning and she suddenly looked so small. I hope she'll be OK.....

And I hope you have a great start to your week too!

A Scandinavian inspired Melbourne home

Is it just me or is Scandinavian design having a moment in Australia? The number of times a fabulous Australian home pops up on Pinterest right now is crazy! This contemporary  Melbourne apartment owned by Indian born Eddie Kaul and Richa Pant and designed by Hecker Guthrie  is a fine example of the clean, understated and elegant style and the way Scandinavian design furniture is sweeping through Australian homes. Since Hecker Guthrie's initial interior design, Richa has continued to to enhance the home and adding art by local artists such as Emily Ferretti. Spotted over at The Design Files (if you don't already follow this amazing blog you should!) and Dust Jacket (another great one!) and photographed by Eve Wilson, I couldn't imagine a finer home to celebrate Friday with you can you?!

So fabulous don't you think? Anything you love in particular?

The Design Files has also done a wonderful job of listing where you can find many of the items you see in the home.

More incredible Australian homes here, here and here.

What are you up this weekend? Anything fun? Decorating? Paddle boarding? Camping? Crayfish party?

It's my little girls' 6th birthday this weekend so we're gearing up for a birthday party and lots of celebrations! Exciting!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

PS I'm amazed I've got over 19,000 Facebook (disguised as a Tumblr) followers, thank you for following!

A Danish home that will put a smile on your face

Since we're nearly at the end of the week, I think today's home tour calls for something virbant and colouful which will brighten up even the dullest of days! Which is why I have selected this Copenhagen home. Just over the bridge in Denmark, this family home has been decorated with bright pops of colour and pastels against a black and white background.  I love how the children's toys blend in to every room in the house to make a fun, relaxed and vibrant family home. Inspiration indeed?!

This home has really brightened up my day and put a smile on my face, how about you?!

I'm a big fan of Milk Magazine, they always find the most fab homes. You can wile away a good few hours browsing interiors on their website

Have a lovely day!

A Dutch home in a former children's nursery

One of the best things about arriving home after holidays is feeling inspired to make changes to the home (at least I do, how about you?!). Today I feel inspired by this Dutch home photographed by Jansje Klazinga for VT Wonen (shared with kind permission). The space is in a converted children's nursery and the family have made maximum use of every detail, cleverly using the wood beams in the eaves as shelving for an office space. As with all the Dutch homes I show on here, I absolutely love the white with the pops of colour, especially in the dining room.

For more pics of this home take a peek here.

I love the different colour chairs around the dining table - the light grey and dark grey ones (this Autumn's colour) which are broken off by a zesty yellow one. Very cool and easily done with a lick of paint. Anything that stands out to you?

The use of wood reminds me a little of another fabulous Dutch home I once showed here.

Thank you so much to Jansje for the kind permission to share these images. I had the pleasure of meeting Jansje a few months back when she photographed my home (images currently for sale).

I hope you have a lovely Wednesday!

A grey and white Swedish home

Hello! I am busy preparing for a visit from my Mum and Dad who are flying in from London this afternoon, so exciting! The most important thing (apart from tidying the house!) is filling up the fridge with Swedish food (they particularly love fried herring with lingonberries!). But before I pour over 'husman' recipes I wanted to share some inspiration from this black, white and grey Swedish home. I particularly love the use of grey floor and white walls in the sitting room and kitchen and then the sudden swap in the bedroom with the white floor and grey walls. Clever....

Anything that stands out to you in particular?

Have a lovely day!
