A cool monochrome Swedish home

P and I had very different ideas of what we were looking for when we bought our house but after a broad search we moved 50 metres! My parents did the same when we were small. It just goes to show what you are looking for is often right under your nose! Do you find this to be true? Swedish pair Lina and Andreas Kanstrup were planning a new build when a house came on the market 100 metres away. They were sceptical but the moment they walked in the door they knew it was right and all building plans went out the window. They renovated their new house from scratch learning lessons on the way and relying on gut instinct. I think the end result is fabulous, don't you?

Who knows, maybe your dream home is a few metres from where you live (unless of course you already live there)?!

There are so many things I love about Lina and Andreas home, including the open plan kitchen, mix of vintage and modern and the monochrome look.

I spy: Kitchen: Cabinets, lights, metal shelf, firdge, fan, stove all IKEA. Tiles are gloss 15 cmm x 15 cmm. Thonet chairs (15% off with code MYSCAN). Lanterns. Office: Desks and shelves from IKEA. Flowerpot lamp. Bedroom: Muuto Dot hooks. Hand sculpture.

Is there anything in particular you love about this home?

Click here for more pictures (including one of their adorable dog Rufus) and the full article.

Oh and thank you to the team at Good Homes magazine UK for featuring me in their May edition and also to Garmentory for publishing an interview with me here. Exciting!

Have a lovely day!

Della's delightful room

As you may know I'm a proud Mum to two lovely ladies who are 3 and 5. I've realised that no room is more fun to decorate than a children's room. Not only can you go a bit wild, but also it needs constant updating as they grow - perfect excuse if ever I needed one!  I'm always keeping an eye out for children's rooms on Pinterest. And today I spotted this very cool space belonging to little 18 month old Della. The monochrome room was designed by her Swedish Mummy and Daddy: Sandra and Marcus, the creative duo behind playful graphic poster shop Miniwilla. Thank you Della, for allowing me to share a tour of your room today!

I spy: Prints and posters by Miniwilla, the Joanna Rug, String shelving, Eco Forest baby blanket, Miffy lamp, Lundby Dolls house, Honeycomb pom poms, Fjälllräven ruck sack, Tee pee. A selection of gorgeous children's designer clothes.

Such a cute room don't you think?

For those of you hurtling towards the school Easter holidays in a panic - I love this DIY easter t-shirt project for afternoon entertainment.

And for those of you who fancy a more grown up take on a white space for today's inspiration - I love this home of a creative Finnish duo, this Brazilian home and this monochrome Dutch space.

Have a great day!

Swedish apartment in white and grey

What a difference a little make sunshine makes, I feel like a different person today! I just spotted this Swedish apartment currently for sale and thought I must nip in and share it with you. It's very classic Swedish style (in my eyes anyway, would you agree?) with it's white and grey colour theme and lovely designer pieces. I could waltz around here humming to myself today, how about you?!

Alvhem Mäkleri
I spy: Kitchen units from Colombini Casa and the Björk rug by Design House Stockholm.  Flos 2097 suspension light in chrome in the sitting room, Asplund Snow chest of drawers, Birds by Architectmade and linen bedding in the bedroom.  Thonet 214 style chair in the home office. And an abundance of very cool art photography.

What do you like the most about this apartment?

For more white and grey Swedish apartment inspiration it's definitely worth checking out this Stockholm space and this beautiful Malmö apartment (one of my favourites). Are you a fan of grey and white?

Have a lovely day!

House for Mother

Good morning! I hope you had a lovely weekend (and enjoyed my rare Sunday home tour). It's so gloomy here in Southern Sweden today but it's OK because I've a beautiful project to share! 'House For Mother' (great name?), is the brainchild of Förstberg Arkitektur as their contribution to the Linköpingsbo 2017 housing exhibition. While the outside will be constructed of raw corrugated aluminium, the inside will be designed using exposed timber and walls lined with plywood to add warmth. This is definitely going to be categorised under my 'fabulous architecture' label! What do you reckon?

I'm a big fan of plywood (more inspiration from this, this and this home) although I  haven't channeled this in my own home. How about you?

Oh and I love the Bumling lamp, featured in House for Mother (had to repeat the name as it's so lovely) in white.

I hope you have a wonderful start to the week!
