A fab mid-century inspired home in Berlin

I recently discovered German online magazine and blog Herz & Blut founded by Jules (aka 'the girl behind the camera'), curated together with a band of talented contributors. It's filled with interior, fashion, travel and lifestyle inspiration. I particularly love this relaxed home in Berlin Friedenau belonging to Nicole and Florian. The high ceilings, period architecture and large windows provide the perfect setting for a creative home teeming with mid-century finds and bold gemoetric patterns. I love the little sewing spot too! Let's take a tour...

Such a lovely, relaxed home, don't you think?

I love the wall mounted jewellery holder in the bedroom- such a smart way to keep everything on display. DIY instructions on how to make your jewellery holder here.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

You can read the full interview with Nicole and Florian and see more pics of their home here (in German).

Other fabulous German homes include the stunning Bavarian home of a photographer, a fabulous boathouse on the Baltic and a lovely family home in a former kindergatan

I've mentioned a few times how much I love Berlin, it's such a great city! If you're thinking of visiting,  Bri of Design Love Fest provides a great city guide part I and part II. If you have any tips let us know in the comments below!

This weekend I'm holding a give-away with not one but five prizes at stake - so make sure you pop by!

Happy Friday!

A charming Swedish cottage by a lake

This charming Swedish home from the 1840's is nestled on the shores of a lake just outside Gothenburg. It may be fairly small but what it lacks in size it makes up for in clever space-saving solutions (look at the children's bedroom!) and whimsicle style.  The decor has been kept beautifully simple with lots of white, rattan and wood. And there's more too - it has an outhouse. I dream of a place at the end of the garden which could double up as a studio and extra space for guests (this is my inspiration for when I'm dreaming big and this is my inspiration when I'm dreaming small). How about you? This pretty cottage has it all! Anyone fancy a row?!

Stadshem

Oh and did I mention it's for sale?! 'Först till kvarn' as they say in Sweden!

I spy a peacock chair just like mine! There's a beautiful one for sale on Etsy right now here (FYI!).

If you're feeling inspired by the Swedish cottage today - you might want to put a kettle on the stove and explore this archive (scroll passed the first home as it'll be this one).

And more outhouse dreaming here and here.

Have a lovely day!

A beautifully captured Danish home

Each season I put a day aside to head over the 'the bridge' to Copenhagen for a day of shopping (&otherstories - have you seen their shoes this autumn?!, Day, Hay, By Malene Birger etc.), lunch and galleries. It's one of my favourite days of the year! Until the day arrives, I'll be taking inspiration from this lovely Danish space belonging to Johanne Dueholm behind 'scandinavian love song'.  Johanne has captured her Aalborg home in a series of close-ups  - each providing a flash of inspiration. Whether it's sheepskin draped over a mid-century rocker, a cheese plant on the floor, a montage of polaroids, or Normann Copenhagen pockets instead of a bedside table. Let's take a tour...

Photography: Johanne Dueholm, scandinavian long song.

Perfect mid-week inspiration!

Are there any ideas which stand out to you?

There are so many pieces I love in this home I'm not sure where to start. OK then....let's take it from the top - Sitting room: String shelving system, sheepskin throw, Flos 265 light. You can buy most of these prints here. Office: download the retro flip clock screen saver. Thonet 214 chairs, 'For Rest' print. Bedroom: Moebe Frame, Normann Copenhagen pocket organiser, linen bedding, moss knit cushion cover,

Thanks so much to Johanne for the kind permission to share all these pics. If you'd like to see more of her home it's well worth checking out her fab IG gallery.

More beautiful Danish home inspiration includes the home of a typographer,  an architect's apartment (with great storage ideas!) and the home of an interior designer. Got to love Danish style?!

Have a wonderful day!
