The colourful home of an artist

Doesn't the start of the weekend make you happy? To me it means sunshine (hopefully) the great outdoors (definitely), family, friends and a little freedom (most certainly) and also time to be creative (I've promised myself to do more of this lately). But this Melbourne based artist Kirra Jamison doesn't need to wait for the weekend. Her job is creating beautiful, bright pieces of art and her home is a converted warehouse filled with colour and bold patterns that in itself is a little ray of sunshine. Who needs the great outdoors?!

What a fantastic space?!

I love an indoor swing. I'm always trying to think where I could put one in our home but yet to come up with the right spot (I'm thinking muddy feet on the walls.....broken vases.....at best! ha!) - what do you think of swings in the home - do or don't? Do you have one?

Have a wonderful weekend  - see you Monday!

A beautiful Malmö home

I do love discovering a home from here in Skåne. And this particular house (for sale through Bo-laget) resonates with me as my family and I looked around one of these fab Friluftstaden houses a few years ago. I I love the way they have decorated the house with light wood, modern Danish design pieces from Hay and Muuto as well as the odd classic and chosen a beautiful soft milky colour palette throughout. What a stunning space, I wonder who it belongs to?

Bo-laget via Do You Fancy This

It reminds me a little of my neighbour from All The Way To Paris' home which was on the market last year (also the location for this Muuto shoot (last picture only), don't you think?

I spy: could it be the A330 Ceiling lamp in silver (15% discount with code MYSCAN)?, the nerd chair and wood table lamp by Muuto (psssst there's a competition over at Nest to win this fab lamp right now), and the Flos 265 wall light (I've been toying with the black version for some time). Oh and you can find beautiful linen bedding at Bodie and Fou (love the chalk version :)

Quick, someone snap up this beautiful home!

A fun and relaxed children's room by Oeuf

It's been ages since I posted a children's bedroom and this one's way to cool to miss. It was photographed by Julia Ansiau for Oeuf which sells eco freindly children's furniture, clothes and accessories. What a fun, relaxed room. Love all those FAB cushions and knits, how cute are they?! and the drawings on the wall (fun DIY project for a rainy weekend?).  In some ways it reminds me of the bedroom I shared with my sister when I was little, we had the same floor, a similar bunkbed and I guess, toys all over the floor :)

What do you reckon, does it remind you of your room as a child at all?

I found these images at Fawn and Forest which is such an amazing shop (and blog) and sells many of the things you see here in this room including the Elephant cot,  Perch bunkbed, and Arctecnica Themis Trio Mobile.

Check out other very cool children's bedrooms here, here, and here! Which is your favourite?

A very cool Swedish apartment

From mid-century yesterday to modern edge today. This Swedish home for sale through Stadshem is so great. I love the art photography  and the fantastic moodboards. I also like the open wardrobes - not sure mine would be quite as great if they were open to the world - and of course the beautiful original flooring.

Because not all home floors are born equal you can always go to a reclaimed flooring company such as this one for a little help to achieve the same effect. I can't help with the clothes in the wardrobe though! - although  I am currently loving the style blog Lovely Pepa!

What do you like about this space?

A Scandinavian mid-century themed home

Hello, I hope you had a fantastic weekend?! I'm recovering from my friends beautiful wedding up in the forest in Dalarna, Sweden. I've known the bride since I was 5 and they turned up to the ceremony in a rowing boat -so romantic! I was a mess!! Anyway. It's therefore apt that I go back into the past for today's post. This home is teeming with Scandinavian mid-century teak furniture and design classics. What a wonderful throw back in time, fantastic!

Modern Findings via Feel Inspired

Are you a fan of Scandinavian mid-century? I have a few lovely pieces but like to mix and match them in with contemporary pieces too. I do admire this home though - and how fab is that cactus planter?! And there's those lovely cats....

For another twist on mid-century check out this home of a Swedish clothes designer I posted last week.

PS  For mid-century furniture Lauritz is always a great bet. Try Design Collectors for many of the fab designer items you see in the home (15% off with code MYSCAN).

Inspiring work space in a converted warehouse

The more I see of collaborative or shared office spaces the more I feel they are an extremely inspiring and efficient way of working for independent business people! Designer and illustrator Mairead Murphy of Maike Design Studio converted this disused warehouse space in Northcote, Melbourne into a beautiful, vibrant and inspiring work space for independent designers and artists. It's been designed to maintain the natural light and feeling of large open space but zoned to allow both individual and collaborative work. Minamilist materials have been used to allow the original industrial features to shine through. I could work there, could you?!

Mairead has been so wonderful and sent me an extensive list of where the items are from for example, the dining chairs are Thonet 214 (15% discount with code MYSCAN), the sofa is Angelucci, the armchair was found in a skip and upholstered in Kvadrat tonica fabric, the white rug is Jimmy Possum, the pendant lights over the dining table are Lightyears by Caravaggio and the bench and swing are by Pop & Scott. The list is extensive so if you're wondering about anything else just give me a shout below!

Check out another fab collaborative work space here.

PS I'm off to a great friend's wedding tomorrow - so exciting! I hope you all have a lovely weekend. See you Monday!

White and grey Gothenburg home tour

I can't tell you how much I enjoyed my house hunting a few years ago. So much so that I was actually a bit sad it was all over when we found our house! I put it down to nosiness. Often when you walk into a home you know instantly if it is a no or a go, others require a little more imagination. With this apartment currently for sale in Gothenburg, Sweden through Stadshem though, you'd want to move in and keep all the furniture. At least I would!

Stadshem

I think what makes the home are the lights. The apple green Bumling in the kitchen and the two pendants over the office space (anyone know what these are?) are so fab. I also like the touch of the Eames DAW chair as an office chair (15% with code MYSCAN).  What about you?

It's an exciting day here at the my scandinavian home residence as I have two talented guests from London visiting with their camera and styling expertise! More to follow shortly....:)

Have a lovely day!
