A Lovely Open-Plan Home in Stockholm, Sweden

Hi there campers! Stopping by on this sunny Swedish summer's day to share a beautiful two-bedroom apartment in Södermalm, central Stockholm! Measuring 76 m2 / 817 f2 the living space is fairly compact and features a lovely open-plan living space which spills out onto a balcony. But what really caught my eye were the details - including he beautiful marble worktop with a sunken in sink, the old wooden coffee table and the sauna in the bathroom. Ready to feel inspired?

Such a lovely space. I love that there is greenery around every corner.

Would you like to have a sauna in your bathroom?

I have to say, after my visit to the Stockholm archipelago last week, I'm very tempted to move to Stockholm,it's such a beautiful part of the world! If you're tempted too, you can read more about this apartment over at Historiska Hem

Take a peek inside more lovely Swedish apartments here

Happy Lillördag ('little Saturday').

A Glimpse Inside a Soothing Swedish Apartment in Summertime

Oh, how we've longed to throw open our balcony doors and allow the summer air to float inside. And the time in Sweden has finally arrived! This lovely flat in Gothenburg is all set for the season with light creamy colours, soft sheer textiles, vases of foraged branches and wildflowers and a little outdoor spot in the sun. What I also love about it is how the rooms flow into one another through a series of archways and gaping double doors, giving the entire space a wonderful sense of serenity!

Lovely!

This has most likely be styled or adapted for sale (nice work Emma Fischer) - so you'd definitely need to add storage in the bedroom, hallway etc. But there are so many nice ideas in this apartment - from the soothing palette and plants to the use off furniture in every little nook.

Is there anything that stood out to you?

A Charming Stockholm Apartment with an Ochre Kitchen

Green is probably the most popular kitchen colour in Scandinavia right now - and there's no denying how calming and beautiful it is. But it's also nice to discover a kitchen which goes against the tide - like this one with ochre cabinets. In fact, the entire apartment in SOFO (South of Folkungagatan), in the hipster district of Södermalm, Stockholm has been decorated in a beautiful, unique palette. Think earthy blue, dusty pink (similar to Farrow & Ball's popular 'setting plaster') and a dampened ochre in the children's bedroom (could be Jotun Lady 'Cashmere' or 'Hummus')- a perfect lesson in how to create a 'röd tråd' (red thread) throughout your home using colour.

Oh, and keep a look out for the castle bed and koala mustard wallpaper in the bedroom! So cute!

Really beautiful - and such wonderful use of colour.

Is there anything that stood out to you?

Would you consider having this yellow, blue and pink combination in your home? or perhaps a kitchen with ochre cabinets?

Last week in Sweden was all about the 'Studenten' i.e., when students graduate from 'gymnasium' (sixth form college / high school). The week was peppered with parties in which sailor-clad graduates celebrated with family and friends until the early hours. Needless to say, everyone's still in recovery mode this Monday! But still it was a wonderful week!

Do you have special traditions in your country for those graduating from high school?

A Cosy Swedish Home Which Maximises Space and Light

When you think of Scandi homes, you usually imagine large spacious open-plan living spaces. This is often true. Drawing natural light into the darkest corner of your home is an essential Scandinavian winter survival factor  - and walls block the light. However, when you live in a small space, this is not always possible - especially if you need to carve out many different living zones such as a home office, sitting room, bedroom etc.

This lovely Swedish apartment is a fine example of how small rooms can still be filled with light with some clever interior tricks. Think glass internal walls and clever mirror placements for a cosy, light-filled home with everything you need.

Mysigt (cosy!) - and such clever use of space, don't you think?

I've got lots of exciting posts planned here on the blog this week including before and after pictures of a swedish country home (wait till you see the transformation of the facade, you'll never look at a red brick house with small windows in the same way!), plus the final reveal of my new wardrobe which I've been working away on behind-the-scenes!

Wishing you all a great start to the week!

Hannes' Beautiful Helsingborg Home Is On The Market!

I'm finishing off the blog week with some good news: Hannes Mauritzson and his partner are selling their flat. OK, if you're well settled where you are, this might not be that good news - save for the fact that we get to drool over the beautiful room-by-room photos all over again (I featured it last year)! But if you're looking to move to Helsinborg, Sweden (lifestyle change anyone?), this is surely excellent news. Hannes' apartment is stunning! There's the architecture dating back to 1907, subtle yet warm tones, and of course the beautiful blend of furniture, a combination of old and new - although sadly I doubt this comes with the flat! All-in-all it's 90 metres square / 968 feet square of charm. Could you imagine living here? Take the tour and discover for yourself!

Lovely!

I could happily see myself rocking about here all weekend, how about you?

See the previous feature I wrote about Hannes apartment, and also discover more about the area through my Helsingborg city guide (we had such a magical weekend there!). It's where Per is from so I know it well!

Right folks, that's it from me this week.

Har en jätte trevligt helg allihopa!
