Treat Yourself To A Back to Work Gift!

Sponsored (all words are my own):
What Sweden lacks in the way of light in the winter, it most certainly makes up for in the summer. As a result, everyone is encouraged to take a lengthy summer holiday (we're talking 3-4 weeks -  how heavenly is that?!). It's not about jetting off somewhere exotic though, it's about hanging out at home, maybe taking a road trip to visit friends and family, or easy day trips and ultimately enjoying the abundance of light! The only problem is when it's finally time to get back to work, you feel all dazed and confused - not unlike this owl! Ha! Anyone else feel like this on your first day back?!  This time round, I've found a perfect way to combat this: a back-to-work-gift. How's that for an idea?! Mine came in the form of the Snow Klinga timepiece from Swedish brand TRIWA

Isn't it pretty?! I've never thought about getting a watch with a light grey leather strap before - but I spotted it among the new summer collection in the TRIWA design atelier in Stockholm a few months back and loved the ivory white dial,  light grey organically tanned leather strap and silver buckle combo. It looks super summery with a crisp white boyfriend shirt, and I've got a feeling it will also match the soft blue and white shades of the snowy Scandinavian winter too -  a winner!

I think I might just be happy to be back at my desk after all!

If you love the look of this time-piece (or any of the others in the TRIWA collection) - you can buy it directly though the TRIWA website (they ship worldwide!).

Oh and they have a summer sale on right now with 50% off selected pieces - such as the beautiful Birch Falken  - just saying!

Right. Better get on with some work!!

Niki

Summer News in the MSHB House!

In paid partnership with TRIWA
Hej hej! I added two new additions to the house over the weekend: some beautiful wild flowers (OK, they were from a local flower shop - but they could have been picked from a Swedish meadow had I lived in the countryside - and I'm hoping to pick similar ones for my daughters' midsummer crowns on Friday!). And the other? A new watch for the man about the house. It's called Raven Nevil and it's got a real summer vibe about it (I love the black dials and organically tanned leather strap!).

OK, it's not solely for Per - I like wearing it too as it's kind of over-sized in a cool way - and great with a 'boyfriend' shirt (that's two things I need to to nick from his wardrobe now - poor guy!).

It's made by Swedish brand TRIWA (if you stop by regularly you'll know the name as I've been a proud ambassador for a while now), everything they do is beautiful and the straps are all made from organically tanner (and there's even a limited edition capsule collection made from recycled plastic!). I've got a small watch collection going and I love dipping in and out of it depending on what I'm wearing. That's not me showing off, it's just, that I don't normally have a collection of anything so I'm super proud - you should see my shoe collection, it's dismal!

No rest for the #husbandofinstagram! Is this picture cheesy? I couldn't decide! If so, it's entirely my fault as I'm way better at photographing interiors than I am people! Even so, he's very happy with his new watch. And he got a nice cup of coffee to go with it too (who says I don't look after him?!). What do you reckon, it kind of suits him, right?!

Oh and you might be wondering what room this is: it's my step sons (remember the make-over a few weeks back?) - when he's not here and we have guests, he's cool with us transforming it into a guest room. I'm still in love with the blue wall!

You can pick up this beauty - AKA the Raven Nevil here - or explore the summer collection here

Oh and, excitingly, TRIWA is also launching a new Humanium metal watch which is made from destructed illegal fire arms, to fight violence and poverty.  See the inspiring film, and sign-up to to get your hands on one of the first TRIWA x HUMANIUM watches here

Oh, and they offer free world wide shipping. Just saying!

Have a fab Tuesday!

PS I'll be back a little later with a home tour, see you then!

A Pretty New Watch for Spring!

Hello March! How nice to see you! Since moving to Sweden the 3rd month of the year gives me a glimmer of hope that spring is finally around the corner, even if there is still snow on the ground! Any day now the daffs will be out and the shops will be transformed into havens of crisp, light colours, soft pastels and the odd zingy hue - don't you just love that?! I felt this called for a mini pre-season celebration - a new timepiece. Meet my new friend from TRIWA (oh how I love being an ambassador for this lovely Swedish brand!).

Rose Svalan! This fab time-piece caught my eye at the TRIWA atelier in Stockholm back in December.  And it's finally hit the market as one of their new spring arrivals. I think it was the rose gold case, light organic handmade leather strap, and over-sized feel that did it!

Beneath the Rose Svalan is a cookery book handwritten by my husband's Swedish grandmother Olga (her cinnamon buns have been immortalised in my Lagom book because they're just SO GOOD - in fact, the French version even comes with a separate recipe card!) and an old workman's stool which I use as a bedside table. I didn't really think about it when I took the picture, but all three of these items are made from authentic materials that only get better with age.

Another thing I love about TRIWA watches is that the straps are handmade from Swedish organic leather produced by the renowned Tärnsjö tannery. Tärnsjö is one of the remaining 5% of tanning houses worldwide that still employ vegetable tanning where bark extract is used instead of chrome. The beauty is that the process has a minimal impact on the environment and it makes the leather age gracefully with a nice patina.

What do you reckon? Could you imagine having the Rose Svalan as part of your spring wardrobe? If not, there are also whole load of other new arrivals to choose from here. They ship worldwide too. Just saying!

Have a lovely day!

PS take a look at other styles I've featured here, here and here (didn't the man do a good job in this shoot - a true #husbandofinstagram?! He's so happy with his Smoky Nevil too!).

The man - and a Special Offer From TRIWA!

Sponsored post:
Men can be so tricky to buy for, don't you think?! My (Swedish) husband mercifully puts down experiences for most of his present ideas which means I get to enjoy it too (who's complaining?!). But this year I thought I'd go that extra mile for St Valentine's Day and get him something longer lasting: the Smoky Nevil watch from Swedish brand TRIWA! If you love the look of it too, I've got great news: the fab team at TRIWA are offering you the chance to buy the Smoky Nevil timepiece with Swedish organically tanned leather strap and get a stainless steel mesh-silver strap worth $69 for free (to redeem enter the code 'MESH' at checkout until end of Feb)! This meant that my husband got to open his two weeks early on one condition: he model it for us..... he here is!

And this is the Smoky Nevil timepiece with the stainless steel mesh-silver wristband... pretty smart, don't you think....

Ahhhh, I think he did a pretty good job with the modelling, don't you?! Look out LFW! And he is seriously pleased with his watch too!

In fact I'd quite happily wear this watch myself if I wasn't already attached to my Dixie Aska (seen here)! I love how the watches combine classic silhouettes and contemporary Scandinavian simplicity - so perfect! How about you?

If you're curious to know more, you can check out their mens and womens watches and find out more about the innovative Stockholm based company here.

And don't forget to make the most of the special offer (Smoky Nevil + mesh wristband with code 'MESH'!).

Have a lovely day!

TRIWA Stockholm atelier / 15% discount

A few weeks ago I paid a visit to the TRIWA design atelier in Stockholm. You might recognise the name - TRIWA make the most beautiful classic contemporary 'scandi-smart' watches for men and women - and they're one of My Scandinavian Home's fab partners - yay! It was super exciting and fun to meet the team and find out more about the Swedish brand. For example, I learned that TRIWA stands for "Transforming the Industry of Watches" - which they do by putting love and passion into every single piece, combining quality materials with minimalist style and making details matter.  I've experienced this first hand with my limited edition Blues Aska  and Dixie Aska timepieces (see more here and here ) - and after my visit, I've got a serious crush on a few other pieces too like the one in my gift guide! Check out my snaps from their office below, and if you're looking for a Christmas pressie for family and friends, you might be happy to hear TRIWA are offering My Scandinavian Home readers 15% discount with code NIKI15, plus free shipping and gift wrapping - how handy is that?! Santa baby, hurry down the chimney.....

Going for gold....TRIWA Timepiece (15% Off!)

My home is pretty much gleaming right now! I wish this was because it was tidy (it's not). It's simply because I have so many gold (and brass) elements around. And this week I added a new addition to my 'shiny' collection - a watch! The Dixie Aska from Swedish brand TRIWA to be precise. And I'm thrilled with it - not least because it has arrived just in time for my pre-Christmas (*sharp in-take of breath* - did I just mention the 'C' word in October?) parties! I have to say, it's so much prettier to look at than my phone when checking the time! Love it! Oh and the wonderful TRIWA team are offering you 15% discount off any item until 15th November, 2017 (just type in the code NIKI15 at checkout!).

Aaaaa, so pretty, don't you think?

The watch is designed out of TRIWA's Stockholm studio and I love how the pattern on the dial has been interpreted from the fixed positions found on traditional watch indexes - which kind of gives it a unique touch, don't you think? It's still got that contemporary Scandinavian simplicity going on though - which is what stole my heart (of course!). If you're looking for something truly classic, but with the same mesh strap - you'll love this beauty!

You might recall I've got a Blue Aska time-piece too (love the darker feel of it - so cosy for Autumn?!)  - and they've got plenty of other fab watches for men and women up their sleeve, as well as  range of sunglasses- oh yes!

Note - the Dixie Aska is sold in a limited supply of 500 pieces only (available here), oj oj oj as they say in Sweden - if you'd like one (or thinking it could be great pressie for a friend), best to be quick (don't forget the 15% discount too - code NIKI15!)!

Have a lovely day!
