A relaxed and eclectic Stockholm space

'A pop of colour here and a vintage vibe there' is the best way to describe this very cool and relaxed apartment in Stockholm captured by Fantastic Frank. I like the casual way the books have been stacked on the kitchen floor, the striking yellow Mhy light, the decadent velvet armchair and the picture gallery wall. All in all, this space is just what I need on a Thursday - somewhere eclectic to kick-back and relax in style. Could you pad around here for the day?

Stylist: Mimmi Staaf, photographer: Emily Laye  Fantastic Frank

I note that stylist Mimmi has added two hot trends in interiors right now  - an oil portrait. They're relatively difficult to find but I love the ones sold by Three Potato Four and also the cool animal portraits by Oldi (I have the Lurcher one which has become a family favourite!). And antique chairs in velvet - how decadent to place a grand armchair in the kitchen - love it! (check out LiveAuctioneers or Lauritz for similar).

Seeing the stacked books has made me reflect on my own sitting room. I love books and feel the space looks disturbingly void of reading material, don't you? This Christmas I'll be pouring over my Pinterest storage board for ideas. One possibility is String shelves (I love the latest inspirational images they've released) and think they'll fit perfectly with my mid-century style. What do you think?

Lastly - today is a big day for me, it's the last day at my corporate job after 14 years in the industry! As of 1st Jaunary I'll be focusing full time on this blog - it's grown so much thanks to you all that I feel it's time to give it the attention it so deserves. Scary and exciting in equal measure! Here's to new and exciting adventures! And thank you all for your wonderful, ongoing encouragement and support.

Have a great day!

A home with grey accents and a mix of old and new

It's no secret that grey is huge this Autumn - whether it's how you dress or decorate. I've seen a few fabulous homes already this year that have gone all out (here, here and here). And this home is another fine example. It's extremely clever how the owners have used different features for the grey accent - whether it's a wall, door or breakfast bar. And there are so many textures at play: concrete, wood, leather which all work together to add warmth and  interest. I love the mix of old and new too. Great inspiration for a Tuesday!

Love this space! It's totally unique, personal and relaxed. I'm not sure if I could do the grey myself but it totally works here. What do you think?

Have a lovely day!

Madelynn's fabulous industrial style loft.

Today is one of those days where I'd like to just potter about at home. Forget that. I'd actually like to potter around Madelynn Hackwith Furlong's home. Madelynn is a stylist, designer, wardrobe consultant and the fab blogger behind wide eyed legless. She is also the owner of this relaxed industrial style loft in Minneapolis. Madelynn's also pretty lovely (she sent me many of these images), has amazing taste (I love the relaxed feel of the space don't you?) and also popular (when I researched this post I'd never seen the space before and have since found it on a whole host of blogs!) But just in case you missed it too......

My favourite item has to be that copper clothes hanger which Madelynn made herself (in fact, she's provided the DIY instructions for this on SF Girl By Bay here, perfect!).

And there's that gorgeous dog too of course......

What do you love most about this home?

If you're in the mood for other industrial style inspiration today you might want to take a look at this Swedish studio, this industrial space teeming with flee market finds and the Copenhagen restaurant Höst.

Before I leave you to your Tuesday, I'd like to highly recommend (and congratulate) Tiny Tribe Magazine for their first ever edition out this week. if you're looking for children's inspiration this is a must read. I was truly honoured to be interviewed for the magazine too! Thank you for including me Tiny Tribe!

Have a lovely day!

A stunning Italian loft

I'm so over excited about today's home tour: an incredible Italian loft created by architects Amorfo. It's a little like a museum - every piece has been carefully selected for it's aesthetics whether mid-century, industrial or designer - and exhibited against a backdrop of concrete / white walls and floors and angled ceilings. Modern day architecture and minimalism at it's best! I would add soft textiles such as colourful rugs, throws and cushions to make it my home. How about you?

Is this your kind of style? Anything that stands out to you in particular? I love the huge glass door which opens the entire space out onto the terrace!

You can see more pictures of this space here if you'd like.

I spy: the Flos 265 wall light, the Vitra Wire Chair DKR-5 is similar and one of my favoruite outdoor pieces - the Butterfly chair. Beautiful mid-century pieces like this teak side-table at LiveAuctioneers.

Have a lovely day!

Monochrome and cognac in a vintage inspired apartment

I hope you had a wonderful weekend? We've had real April showers here in Southern Sweden and as I write from my corner in a cafe by the sea this morning the rain is coming down in sheets outside, it's all very cosy! Indoors is the best place to be today -  and I have just came across this little gem on Stadshem. This two room apartment is teeming with vintage finds and mid-century pieces. I love the white, black and cognac colour scheme too, very lovely.

Stadshem

I can't take my eyes of that black gloss Smeg fridge! Anything that catches your eye?

I'm a huge fan of cognac, it can add real warmth to a colour scheme. Some of my favourite colour combinations include the blue and cognac mix in this pretty Swedish home, monochrome and cognac in this stunning Danish home and the grey and cognac in this apartment.

Have a lovely Monday!

PS Thank you to the wonderful Krisp Interior for featuring an interview with me over the weekend, I really enjoyed taking part!

The oh so cool home of a Swedish photographer

Morning! This is the oh so cool home of talented Swedish wedding photographer Therese Winberg. Shot by Therese and styled by Anna Malmgren for Plaza Interiör, the space appeared on several blogs late last year and I missed it (I know, I think I was to busy enjoying my Christmas glögg!). It's such a fabulous home I thought I'd better share it in case you missed it too?! The space is the perfect blend of old and new and teeming with the latest design trends (hello geometric kitchen floor, scallop fronted dresser, grey marble surfaces..) . There is so much inspiration from this place I'm not sure where to start, but I'll certainly be pinning every picture!

What do you love most about this home?

Personally, I'd like Therese's bright coloured collection of sneakers!

Because it'd be rude not to:  here are some beautiful homes tours of other Swedish photographers: Jakob Nyland, Helena Blom, and Jonas Ingerstedt.  It's official: Swedish photographers have fabulous homes!

Have a lovely day!

A beautiful vintage inspired Australian home

Remember this ethereal bedroom with ensuite I showed last Sunday? Well this morning I was really excited to discover the rest of the home. Vintage House Daylesford is a former 1860's miners cottage which has been lovingly restored to highlight the original features of the space and decorated to perfection with the help of the oh so talented Kali Cavanagh. And the good news? It's available to rent!

Interior : Kali Cavanagh,  Vintage House Daylesford via Desire to inspire and 79 ideas
The ethereal style is not far off Australia based Kara Rosenlund's home (also featured here) and this lovely vintage inspired guest house, don't you think? If ever there's an excuse to go down under.....

Have a lovely day!

A Stockholm apartment with an industrial touch

I absolutely love window room dividers. They are the perfect way to separate living areas without blocking light. And they look cool too! This Stockholm apartment is currently for sale through Per Jansson. I love the industrial / vintage touch and the white walls and floors.

Per Jansson

Could you live here? It's styled for sale but if it were mine (and I wish it was) I'd add a few rugs and perhaps a wood burning stove and then it would be perfect!

For more inspiration on window room dividers you might want to take a peek at this, this and this home. So fab!

Have a lovely day!
