My home: Christmas work space

After seeing the beautiful IETS studio on Wednesday I thought I'd better pep up my work station a little and add a touch of Christmas. Here are a few pics from my home office....

Photographs: My Scandinavian Home

It's so important to have a lovely place to work and surround yourself by pieces you love.

Here's a little guide on where thing's are from: The flowers to the left were a lovely birthday surprise from my Mum and Dad. The desk, storage unit and arch lever lamp are from IKEA. The pictures are my own, except the heart one which is by one of my favourite Swedish artists, Pearl Wallin. The silver birch pen holders and white tin jug are from Granit. You can get the HAY artist's hand from Malmö Modern or La Maison D'Anna G online shop. The black telephone is from Graham and Green. I made the garland using paper stars from Granit.

I hope you all have a really lovely weekend!

A beautiful relaxed art studio

I stumbled across the fantastic site Coffeeklatch which captures the work spaces and homes of creative people, via fab blog SF Girl By Bay and what a find! The latest interview features the Ghent loft studio of creative duo Jan and Delphine of IETS who work with visual art projects including productions, pop-up shops and interior design.

To me, this is a perfect example of a relaxed, creative space where everyone is welcome and which is also practical. The large open plan area is crammed with interesting vintage finds and different spaces to relax, work, get inspiration, eat and roam around on a tricycle. I wonder, f you worked here would you call it 'work?!'

What's your work /studio space like?

All pictures shared with kind permission from Coffeekatch.

key to a successful home office - a beautiful vintage chair!

Working from home is heavenly in itself, add a work space like this and I'm not even sure you're allowed to call it work! It seems every home office *needs* a fantastic vintage office chair.....

Do you have an aaaaawesom office chair or perhaps an entire work space that will make us cry with envy? if so, make sure you send me a pic!  I'm thinking I'll be back again this afternoon with some more inspiration for the home so pop back and say hi! Have a lovely day!

Vintage inspired workspaces

Hello! And how are the heads this afternoon? Are you suffering from a two-day hangover from new years eve or are you looking foreward to the year ahead with a clear mind? I hope it's the latter as for many people today, it's back to work! No better way to start the year afresh than to re-style your office and I absolutely love these vintage inspired work spaces.

Vintage inspired office spaces

Imagine these office spaces on a daily basis? (oooo that rhymes - I'm a poet and I just don't know it :). Swap flourescent strip lights and withering plants with vintage pendent lamps and beautiful things to look at all day.

Picture: Stylizimo.
What a collection of wonderful vintage things! Source similar at flea markets in your area, or try online at The Old Cinema. You can find shabby chic garden chairs at Petersham Nursery, London or Green Square in Copenhagen.

Picture: found on Lotta Agaton blog. Photographer: Bjarni B Jacobsen.

The pic above and the following two are taken from Oliver Gustav's home shown on Lotta Agaton's lovely design blog. Oliver Gustav lives above his eponymous shop in Copenhagen. His apartment / home office is very rough and ready with a tremendous mix of old and new and certainly beats an open plan office or what?!

I have seen this fantastic large numbered calendar in the design shop at Lousiana, Denmark, does anyone know the name of it? I would love one in my home office, it would be hard to forget the date!

Buy vintage pendent lamps at Lauritz. Source a wired basket from Granit. Buy an orange Wesco bin like this one from Amazon.

And finally,  I love this light and airy office space shown on the Adore Vintage blog.

Roll on Monday morning!
