A serene Norwegian home on a hill

I follow a lot of blogs, I'm talking ridiculous numbers (here's a list covering a few of them, and it doesn't even include the ones I come across through Pinterest, Instagram, my cat etc!). I like to call this (eh hem) research. They're all fabulous in their own way, but I truly admire blogs who take new, inspiring pictures of their homes daily. Norwegian blogger Nina Holst is one of these. Not only does she have impeccable style, she's also a great photographer - which makes for perfect bloggage over at Stylizimo.  I'm sure you're a regular follower already (at least of her wonderful IG gallery)- but let's just sit back and admire her beautiful Norwegian home on a hill (and that view) for another minute....

Shared with kind permission from photographer / stylist Nina Holst / Stylizimo.
I love the black, white and light cognac combination, it's so serene - and that view from the terrace? Wow!

Is there anything you love in particular about this home?

Items I know and love: Dining area: wishbone chairs, Kubus candleholder, and Kubus bowl in grey, Eames House Bird. Sitting room: Saxe chair By Lassen, painting by Nina. Office: Alex drawer unit, Le Sac paper bag. Bedroom: wishbone chair, Louis Poulsen AJ table lamp.

Other wonderful home tours include the home of a Norwegian blogger, the home of a Swedish food blogger and the happy home of a Dutch blogger.

Have a lovely day!

A striking yet calm monochromatic Swedish home

Hello there! I promised myself I would show a colourful home tour today, and then I spotted this dreamy Swedish space and had to share it! Monochrome home tour it is then. I love the contrast between the elegant high ceilings and original period features and the contemporary dark wood floor pooled with light- it's just so striking, don't you think?! The open-shelving in the kitchen, study and bedroom help to create a really light and airy feel and add interest. *sigh* what a truly lovely space....

Could you imagine tinkering away in that music room / study?  I'm imagining music flooding the home on a summer's evening. I'd love to be able to play the piano - a friend of mine is a musician and she says it's wonderfully therepeutic. Do you play?

Plus they really add to a home - this Swedish family home and striking Danish home with a calm feel have beautiful pianos too.

A note on where a few items are from: Study: Eames DSW chair, floor lamp. Bedroom: linen bedding, clamp reading lamps. Sitting room: elephant cushion, DLM side table, WQ print, Feather pendant light. Kitchen: letter cups.

In case you were after that home bursting with colour today, do you remember this home with black floors and vibrant hues? Which look is more you? I could go either way - or perhaps meet somewhere in the middle?

Have a wonderful day!

PS Do you live in a high-rise but long for a pool? - These guys have found the answer. How terrific is that?! Not for the faint-hearted though....

A fab monochrome Swedish space

Hello Monday! This home is simply lovely, I'm not sure how the Swedish owners can bare to part with it...but part with it they are! I can't decide if it's the French balcony off the bedroom (how lovely to have linen curtains blowing in the breeze?), the light-filled dining room or the dressing room...either way, it's a beautiful space. Sweden anyone?!

What do you reckon, could you live here?

So many items I know and love: Dining room: Thonet chairs / Scarlett Johansson print / black sheep skin. Bedroom: Rug / this clothes rail is similar . Sitting room: Print. Kitchen: vase / chopping board.

Aubergine  coloured drapes have become a popular choice for the bedroom (also seen in this and this bedroom). It's a wonderful way of breaking up the white / light grey of the walls. Although I'm still a little biased towards sheer curtains which catch the light (as seen in the serene home of a Swedish singer). A subtle white black-out blind tucked behind can do the trick to block out early morning light.

More pics of this space here (including a tour of the dressing room). I also love this walk-in wardrobe - one to add to my Pinterest board - for that day when...

Have a lovely day!

Lovely pics from the home of a Swedish stylist

Earlier this week I showed some pics of Swedish stylist Pella Hedeby's lovely new home (oh how I wish I was lying on that daybed right now...). And then today I was browsing through Pinterest (in the name of work...of course!) and was excited to discover yet more stunning shots from her previous home captured by Sofi Sykfont. That girl has style....

It seems, whatever Pella touches turns to gold - wouldn't you agree?!

I must admit, I'm feeling the stress today. My book deadline is looming and I've got guests arriving from London tonight (excited too!).  Even so, I still wanted to pop in to share this lovely home and say hi and also thank you all for your wonderful support and encouragement!

I'll love you and leave you with links to a few of my favoruite homes including the danish home of Dorthe Kvist,  a lovely light filled Swedish family home and a helsinki penthouse with a romantic touch. Ah so beautiful, makes me feel calmer just looking at them!

I'll be back after the weekend, I hope you have a wonderful few days!

Crisp white, greys and floaty linen in a bloggers home

Loving this pared-back space with crisp white walls, monochrome palette, fresh linen, macrame wall hangings and art photography. The shots have been taken in the lovely home of Bianca Wippe of one of my favourite blogs (my) unfinished home. Captured for a new store S2 20 - selling Nordic Homewares (we like). I love it when a plan comes together, don't you?!

Photography: Bianca Wippe, for S2 20. Post inspired by The Design Chaser

What do you think, is this your kind of style?

Many of the beautiful items can be found at S2 20. Congratulations to Hege in France for the launch of your fab shop (althought this could get dangerous!).

Other black and white / monochrome home inspiration include this simply beautiful Finnish home,  a fabulous small Swedish space, and a relaxed danish home (love the bike on the wall).

Have a wonderful day!
