When one of my darlings—a home I've featured—comes on the market, I feel an irresistible duty to let you know. Especially when it’s not just the house that’s up for grabs, but all the furniture too.
Yes, you heard that right: Lynda Gardener is selling her beloved The White House in Daylesford. The dreamy property is a masterclass in understated elegance, with natural tones brought to life by the patina and stories of the individual vintage pieces Lynda has so lovingly sourced over time. Every room tells a tale, making it a one-of-a-kind home.
And let’s not forget that beautiful garden room, the one I’ve been dreaming over since first laying eyes on it back in 2017. Now, imagine not just owning the home, but also having the chance to take it on with all its thoughtfully curated treasures. How wonderful?
Whether you’re contemplating a move to Australia or simply looking for a dose of gorgeous interior inspiration to brighten your Friday, this home is sure to have something for each everyone of us. Some of these images might be familiar, others perhaps new, I hope you enjoy the tour all the same!
Beautiful! I'm curious, why is she selling all the furniture too?
ReplyDeleteGood question! My guess is that it fits the house, and since she owns several properties and this isn't her primary residence it would have to go into storage otherwise.
DeleteBeautiful! Love your stories & pictures 🥰
ReplyDeleteThank you - these lovely pictures were taken by Marnie and Lean - but it was honour to relay the story of this lovely house.
DeleteLove the combination of natural, neutral materials and colors (brown wood, varied greens, white, grey and black,) with little sparks of yellow and red in the bathroom. Also, the portrait of the gentleman in the bedroom, the background of which happens to be echoed by the greenery on the nightstand is charming. Lastly, you're so right -- patina brings it all to life!
ReplyDeleteThank you for pointing out all these lovely details - something that Lynda has such a great eye for. I am so happy you enjoyed this tour!
DeleteWouldn't the guesthouse be a treat to stay at? :)
ReplyDeleteHeaven!
DeleteThere are many fun spots for the eye to land. I particularly like the setting in the room with the round table and wooden cabinet with gallery wall. And then garden/guest room is very charming. It would be nice to own the home and enjoy each space!
ReplyDeleteIt would, wouldn't it? I'd be tempted to have the garden room as my very own boudoir to retreat to - bliss!
DeleteThis is really a lovely house, yet when I look around my own home, every object I see has story that is part of my life--the pillow covers my aunts in Greece wove, the samovar my great-grandparents brought over from Russia, the rug I bought in Mexico, the daybed that was made for me by a friend. These associations bring me so much joy, it's hard to imagine it would be the same to be surrounded by things that are beautiful but have no resonance for me.
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent point and I share your sentiment entirely. A home is only a home if it feels personal and lived in and you are surrounded by things you love. Having said that, if you love vintage and moving into a home with no furniture whatsoever, this would be a great place to start - and then of course, you can slowly make it your own from there, and layer it with treasures collected over time.
DeleteI am also thinking that someone might buy this as a buy-to-let - in which case it would be very handy to keep the furniture.
:)
Do you believe in synchronicity? I've been drooling over the garden studio for months, as I'm getting ready to convert my garage to an MIL abode and love the aesthetics and layout. Thanks for a more in-depth look see of the primary house!
ReplyDeleteOh wow! It's a sign that your converted garage is going to be just as you are striving for. Have you seen the main house before or is this the first time?
