I've just arrived at our little cabin for the weekend, tapping away at my laptop, wrapped in a blanket, with candles lit and a cup of tea on the go. It’s so lovely to be here (even if it's taking a while for the place to heat up) and got me in the mood for weekend retreats. And where better to transport us today than a cosy, secluded getaway on the North Devon coast in England?
Nestled on a cliff overlooking Exmoor’s dramatic coastline and surrounded by forest, Rockton Mews is situated in a former coach house and has been beautifully renovated, all while ensuring the stone walls, roaring fire, and spectacular sea views take centre stage. I love the use of dark blue-grey, which creates contrast, adds a sense of drama, and connects the apartment to the sea beyond. It’s a perfect place to unwind and relax over a weekend—or hey, maybe even a week or two!
Ready to take a tour and dream away?
Naturally you'd need to arrive in a racing-green Landrover Discovery (definitely the car of my dreams!).
A windowsill in the kitchen doubles up as a spot for a cup of tea and a read.
The open-plan room includes a kitchen, small dining area and sitting room -
Could you imagine spending the weekend here? In my mind, I'm already pulling up in the Landrover Discovery, ready for my coastal walks and wine by the fire!
The interior has been beautifully done too - a perfect blend of modern and rustic, with a cosy twist! Is there anything that caught your eye?
Oh, and if you're heading to England, you can actually experience this place in person as Rockton Mews is available to rent through
Boutique Retreats. You can also see some before and after pictures of the renovation and words from the owner
here, and follow Rockton Mews on
instagram for more pics and news.
The harbour in the last picture is so quintessentially English! It makes me look forward our trip back over the Christmas holiday.
Have a great weekend - thank you for stopping by. I've loved reading all your comments and emails too!

This is breathtaking… so much beauty. I also love the use the dark blue gray color. So refined, but still appears cozy and comfortable. What a dreamy place — and the LandRover is the perfect accompaniment!
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed this tour too Pamela - the dark grey / blue is so beautiful. I have one wall in our guest room painted this colour, but now I am tempted to go for the entire room!
DeleteThis is absolutely stunning! Love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy you liked this too - it really is an incredible property - inside and out!
DeleteOh wow. Fantastic. I love the idea of a windowsill doubling as a cozy nook for holding a snack while gazing on the magnificent scenery. It's a dream for me to have a home with rustic stone walls. I could definitely while away the hours here.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was a lovely touch too - after all, it would be a shame to waste that incredible view! Stone walls are a real dream!
DeleteThe views are stunning. I loved the rustic rock walls so much! A most picturesque village. Thank you for sharing this lovely home!
ReplyDeleteHappy you enjoyed this too. The village looks so pretty - I bet it has a really cosy local pub!

Following my fascination with all things Scandinavian! I found myself here. What a beautiful blog and I shall be ordering at least two of your books as a gift to me, from me. I almost giggled though when I saw this post from North Devon though, as here, I awake to south Devon sea view atop a hill in my tiny seaside town called Dawlish. Whilst I’ve been dreaming of far flung Sweden, you have been cosying up on the North of our County. Keep writing. It’s a thoroughly enjoyable read x
DeleteThank you so much for your lovely comment - I am so happy you have found this cosy Scandinavian corner of the web - välkommen! I can't believe you live in North Devon - what a coincidence. I spent most of my childhood summers on Devonshire beaches - rain or shine!
DeleteThe sofa and the armchair look extremely inviting and the view from the windows is divine.
ReplyDeleteYes, such a cosy touch! It definitely invites you to settle in, relax and look out at the view for a while.
DeleteYou will love this blog!!!! And the books!! They offer comfort for the soul!! I must say that My Scandinavian Home was one thing that got me through the pandemic.....and now I am really going to need it for the next years as political matters are troubling me.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, it really made me so happy to read that you enjoy my blog and my books. I am happy they offer you a little positive respite from the crazy world we live in.
