The leaves are starting to unfurl in Sweden which means gardens and balconies have been a hive of activity: sweeping, pruning, scrubbing down furniture - you name it. While we know in our hearts of hearts that the temperatures could very well plummet later this week, there's an optimism in the air that lunches alfresco are just around the corner!
That's is probably why this fresh white apartment in Gothenburg caught my eye. It has all the trappings of an ideal My Scandinavian Home contender: a lovely mix of old and new, Scandi design pieces (keep a look out for the vintage Dux chair and Frama stool) and plenty of plants. But also, the small garden has been converted into a charming outdoor sitting room - complete with sofa, coffee table and parasol, offering the perfect place to relax with a book on a sunny afternoon.
Välkommen!
Here's the floor plan in case you're curious:
Glossary: Kök - kitchen, Sovrum - bedroom, Bad - bathroom, Vardagsrum - sitting room, klädkammare / förråd - wardrobe / wardrobe, and uteplats - outdoor space.
Lovely! So fresh, yet with a touch of charm.
I think the garden design is really clever, with a semi-circular bush shielding the space from the communal pathway.
Is there anything that stood out to you about this Swedish home?

Wishing you all a great start to the week!

Such a cozy, clean, comfortable, minimalistic place. I'm with you, the garden and deck space is fantastic. The lux lounge couches would be a great place to snooze, sip, sunbathe, read. And gotta love anyone who will sacrifice a closet for books!

That is so true re the books! Now all we need in Sweden is a little sunshine and they can enjoy that space for real :)
DeleteThe outdoor are is fabulous. It has everything.
ReplyDeleteI love it that there is even a little lawn area and hedge
Yes, I saw that too - the little semi circle of lawn - love it! Imagine the mowing?
DeleteI enjoy learning about Scandinavian furniture designers. The stool as nightstand was clever and so was the mirror inside the closet converted to bookshelf. They clearly are very smart about organization while keeping it aesthetic! Inside and out, a place that would be a joy to inhabit.
ReplyDeleteYes, that's true. I'm happy you spotted so many lovely things about this home.
DeleteThis home is small but calm and serene lacking neither color not interest. Love small homes/apartments that still ensure an airy kitchen with adequate daylight and a comfortable, private outdoor space. My kind of home! P.S We are enjoying good weather too, however can't tell what tomorrow may bring:-)
ReplyDeleteAgree totally with your description! It sounds like we all need to make the most of the sunshine as soon as it comes out!
DeleteA small home, and yet so spacious. Love it!
ReplyDeleteI agree, they have managed to create a wonderfully light and airy feel!
DeleteScandi decor looks so youthful to me. I guess it's why I like it so much.
ReplyDeleteThat is such a great description! I agree!
DeleteIt is! it's given me inspiration for the garden at our cottage in fact!
