I was initially drawn to the pink in this sitting room. And then when I delved deeper, I was so excited to discover an entire house with impeccable style. The London terrace features room after room of beautiful design. And crucially, it also feels wonderfully personal!
The property combines beautiful late-Victorian architecture with contemporary interventions - and this blend of old and new is continued in the eclectic array of furniture. Think mix and match one-off pieces embodying different styles, eras and cultures as well as a blend of shapes, pattern and texture.
Even so, the space emits a wonderful sense of calm thanks to the use of blank space between the elements, and the light that floods in through the windows and doors.
Ready to feel inspired?
There are so many things to love about this house - and the more I look through the pictures, the more I see! I particular love the bookshelves in the stairwell, the art and all the one-off pieces no doubt collected over time.
I'm also dreaming about the pink - and wondering where it can go in my house. Maybe the landing or our bedroom. Not sure if Per will agree though. Can you imagine having a shade like this in your home?

Looking at homes in London makes me feel so nostalgic, and I can't wait to head 'home' in late September to catch up with family and friends (and hang out at the pub!).

I love everything. It can be pleasant to sit out in the garden-jungle on hot summer evenings with a glass of wine. And in winter, sitting inside in a warm nook, looking at the snowy shapes with a cup of comforting tea. The whole "inredning" is very much by my taste.

DeleteThis is great! Definitely a place where I can imagine myself living. I confess that I'm not a huge fan of the pink, but everything else speaks to me. I'm curious as to what's on the other side of the bathroom door--it looks like a fun use of wallpaper there. I love the cork wall--what a good idea for pinning up your kid's pictures. I also like how they somehow made putting blankets over the sofa seats look stylish. Maybe it's due to how they combined the pillows with it? Thanks for sharing this one with us.

What I treasure most in English home is the seamless transition from the indoors to the outdoors. Sitting at the table near the glass doors is almost like sitting outside but with all the comfort and conveniences of indoor living.
ReplyDeleteSo true! My sister has amazing bifold doors in her house in London and on a summer's day the entire back of her house opens up to the garden!
DeleteWe had a second house by a lake with a small room designed for office space with built in cabinets and counter top desk space. In between the cabinets and counter we put cork board tiles and tacked up business cards of repairmen, painters, etc. I loved that room with a view of the lake and I would put up family photos & Biblical quotes, and rotate to give it character.
ReplyDeleteI love the pink walls. I do have a pale pink bedroom and find it a very neutral and soothing color. I think the pink actually evokes your Scandinavian cozy feel. What is the word you use,
