Cabin Escape: A Dreamy Scandi Inspired Ski chalet in Whitefish

The whole of Sweden is blanketed in snow right now - and the temperatures are well below minus for the foreseeable future (at least according to the 10-day weather forecast). In Malmö, everyone is breathing a sigh of relief and the children are rushing out with their sleds. For the first time in quite few years, we're being treated to 'a real winter'.  This calls for a snowy cabin, don't you think? And The Nooq fits the bill perfectly. Described on Airbnb (yes, this beauty is available to rent!) as a 'Scandinavian minimalist ski chalet', the Nook is a ski in / walk out retreat on the slopes of Whitefish Mountain Resort, Montana, USA. I could totally imagine skiing in - all rosy cheeked from the fresh mountain air - enjoying a casserole by the fire before a long soak in the bath looking out over the forest. 'Walking out' would be a different story. I mean, would you ever want to leave?

Heaven!

Could you imagine checking-in here?

I miss the mountains so much - do you? Or perhaps like Swede Bettina Kapare you're lucky enough to live somewhere like The Alps?

If you're feeling the snowy cabin love today - here are a few others to feast your eyes on:

Wishing you all a relaxing day! Stay warm fellow Swedes and everyone else feeling the chill right now!

  1. This is like no other ski chalet I ever stayed in. It is modern, well outfitted and comfortable. most ski rentals are a bit shabbier and have that mountain lodge vibe with dark paneling, older furniture, left-over paperbacks and old movies on VHS. That has its charm but this place is amazing. I would love to live here let alone rent.
Here in Calgary we have had more snow than we usually do (we have extremely dry climate) and skiing is good but difficult to do these days with limited capacity and reservations ahead of time). Temperatures will go into deep freeze this weekend (-21C high) so I am staying in :-). I will bookmark this chalet when i go to Whitefish next.

  2. We finally have snow here in southern Alaska. I live on one of the coastal islands and with mountains all around. The snow brightens everything up.

  3. What a wonderful place to forget about the world and disconnect from it all.

  4. Jaw droppingly beautiful. We just experienced ~30 inches of snow in the Northeastern states (US) earlier this week Pretty, yes. In glass half empty mentality, I’m not enamored with the work of snow removal to clear walkways, steps, driveway and patio. The snow is so heavy on the roof, it appears we are about to lose a section of guttering. For me, reality of problems created outweighs the beauty. I think our home was not built or fitted with the right protection from elements of this magnitude, unfortunately.
