Guys! I have some exciting news to share with you. Last January I sent out a survey to find out what you'd like to see more of on My Scandinavian Home - and I received so many wonderful, helpful replies! I noticed many said that although you enjoyed the inspiration, you still sometimes feel a little stuck with how to arrange a room, which colours to choose, or simply how to complete the look in a beautiful way (don't I know that feeling!). I also receive a flood of mails each week asking for similar advice. So, I put on my thinking cap.
One of the key philosophies of Scandinavian design is that everyone should have access to good design. And I felt the same should be the case with interior design.
So, I have launched an affordable My Scandinavian Home online interior design service from this fab studio. For a small fee, the team of highly qualified, passionate, über talented Scandinavian interior designers are waiting to help you pretty much wherever you are in the world!
All you'd need to do is visit the studio website, fill in a simple online form about the room you'd like decorate and complete a fun style survey on the bus home from work or from the comfort of your sofa. One of the members of the team will then contact you to discuss your needs, before sending you a room layout, mood board and product list (if required) so you can get decorating and create the room of your dreams!
I hope you feel as excited as I am! If you are stuck on a room, We're so looking forward to helping you transform your home, one room at a time!
Niki
PS It's half term in Sweden next week so I am going to be giving my husband and little girls my full screen-free attention - do you think they'll recognise me?! I won't be blogging but I might just sneak on to instagram stories from time to time (yes, I know, but!). I hope you have a really lovely, relaxing week too!

This is brilliant news! I have been meaning to redo my hallway for three years. I'd love to win this. Judy
ReplyDeleteWhiehoe!!!! That IS great news. Being totally « acro » on your blog since a month or two , trying to find out how to decorate my living room wall which is separated in two by a wood burning stove. I want color, but not to much ; space for books, toys and some art.... We have a lovely wood and black stairs that are a real artistic part of the space and all walls are still white (we would like to paint them with natural materials that breath).
ReplyDeleteHow we would love some advice!
We are in the process of buying a house and the family room has a tricky layout + we need new furniture anyway. I've seen other similar online design services and would love to try yours!
ReplyDeleteWe moved into our new apartment last summer and are still struggling with the biggest room, which should become a mix of guest room, office and playing room for the kids... Really difficult to fit everything into 35m2! Some professional advice would be muchmuch appreciated :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this - what a wonderful service to offer up!
ReplyDeleteWe're about to start some building work on our 1880's Mews house by the sea in Sussex uk. We've been here 14 years, but will finally add an extension to our kitchen which will become a social dining space. I really want to get the lighting right as our kitchen isn't the brightest of rooms. I know that Scandivian has this nailed! Any help would be invaluable and couldn't come at a better time :)
I love your blog. I live in a frozen, but adorable, Stillwater, Minnesota. Though it’s filled with stunning Victorian houses, I live in a rental with my two tween boys in a 2-bedroom split side-by-side (also called a semi-detached)! Not the best, but I’m here! I’m desperate for help on my lower level U shape layout—downstairs to the right a long living room, open to the left for the dining room and then left again the the small galley-size Kithen and laundry room. Did I say it’s all carpeted!!? I have layered rugs. 1/2 bath on this floor too. I have searched high and low for a living/family room-kitchen layiut. I think it’s impossible. Now this IS a challenge! Help!?!
ReplyDeleteI get up every morning looking forward to a big mug of coffee and your blog. Love your aesthetic, your optimistic point of view and your gorgeous pictures. I’ve moved several times in past few years and am thoroughly burn out trying to nest. We have a fabulous new double height, large, windowed living room that I have tons of ideas for, but can’t seem to pull the trigger on anything. Your help would truly be life changing for the entire family. Jodie :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great new project! I would love to redo our entryway - with two kids with multiple instruments, backpacks, does, and sports equipment, it is a soul-killing mess. It would be terrific to restore some sense of calm on entering our home.
ReplyDeleteOur rental’s kitchen/living area (it’s one room :P) is small, but furnished as if it’s even smaller. We have a strange problem of having not enough space and too much unused space at the same time, would love help with that!!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! We recently moved into a new home and although the rest of the home is slowly coming together (veerrrrrryyyyyy slowly), our bedroom remains a haphazard mess of a bed and two dressers - truly, there's nothing else in there. The layout is strange, with some small doors leading to the eaves that take up more space than I would like. Not sure what to do regarding layout or design and could definitely use the help!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! I've waited 14 years to redesign the kitchen in my 1967 midcentury (sadly, not terribly modern) house on acreage in Colorado. I love simple, utilitarian design and appreciate the "celebrate what you've got" aspect of Scandinavian design. If a kitchen is too ambitious, I would love help with the living room, bedrooms, bathrooms, exterior... you get the idea!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have been rebuilding our house for two (two!) years, and after vaulting ceilings, adding windows, and installing wood floors, we are finally at the blissful (but also daunting) stage of decorating. Your book was a constant companion while designing and building (the design brief I wrote at the start of our project was 'Scandinavian functionality, light, and simplicity of form, with a bit of eccentric English granny in the details'). So far, so good. Except our bedroom. It's a smaller room with a slight vault and white oak floors. There's a tangle of linen on our bed and not much else. Do I do the wardrobe doors natural wood or painted? Do I need a rug? The wall behind our bed, with its two casement windows, is hollering for wallpaper or some color - but which and and what kind? A mirror in the corner or a chair, and what about art? I would love, LOVE, to be your guinea pig!
ReplyDeleteHello, and thank you for thinking of all of us s you launch your new service. There will be so many readers wanting to take advantage --- how will you choose just two? I would love to have your help with my kitchen. I live alone and my home is the sanctuary I return to after a full day of teaching. I would love to have the lower cabinets painted a light color and to have the uppers removed in favor of some very minimal open shelving. I know that this might affect the resale value of my home at some point in the far future, but, like I said, my home is my sanctuary, and it would be so much nicer to have a bright and airy kitchen than one with more cherry cabinets than I can possibly fill. Thank you so much for the giveaway! I'm sure the winners will be delighted!
ReplyDeleteOh my! It would be amazing to have help from your design team! I would love to bring scandinavian design to my living room. Living in Alaska, we have the same need for light-filled spaces that they do in Scandinavia but interestingly many homes here favor dark woods and rustic country/lodge styles (ugh!). I appreciate the warmth of the existing cedarwood walls in our home but with our minimal winter sunlight the house can feel so dark. I am stuck! I want to maintain a little of the unique Alaskan character of our home but bring in the bright, natural, restful, minimal, cozy feel of scandinavian design. I absolutely love the look of many Norwegian and Swedish country homes with their blend of antique and modern. Also, much of the furniture in our home has been given to us which means most of it does not fit the design that I love but instead the lodge-y country style so prevelent here (sigh). If you're looking for a challenge for your design team; our home might be it. Haha! Thank you for always providing such inspiration on your blog, and for the opportunity to enter!
ReplyDeleteI’d love to decorate my husband’s and my bedroom. It’s a simple and small, semi-attic bedroom. There’s one small closet that is as tall as my hips and the furnace is in the space that should be the actual closet. There’s a small window that brings in lovely southern light. We keep our potted citrus trees under the window in the winter. It’s a tiny room but has a coziness to it that I’d love to accentuate with a Scandinavian style.
ReplyDeleteI have a den in need of a personality. No matter what I try it doesn’t work. We love the room and use it a lot but it needs help!
ReplyDeleteI recently made an offer on a house! I'd love some ideas for how to set up the master bedroom. It's tiny, but I want to it to be simple and have a scandinavian style.
ReplyDeleteWe're moving into a tiny apartment by the end of February and I think a living room makeover would be fantastic! Good luck Niki! Can't wait to see what you do next :)
ReplyDeleteI would love love love this! My living room is a long, tricky room and Swedish design is the best!
ReplyDeleteI just bought my condo in sunny Tucson, AZ. It's my first home that I own and I am excited. It's 1,100 sq ft. The living room is the largest room and will also serve as office, library, entertainment area, and spare sleeping area. I love Scandi style because of the subtle, light colors that I think will make a small space seem comfortable and not cramped. My condo complex was built in 1940 and is considered Monterrey style. Large casement windows and lots of French doors for plenty of light. Would love advice on the living room/everything room.
ReplyDeleteWe just moved into our first house, a blank-slate new build in the UK. The master bedroom is quite small, and we have old, hand-me-down furniture. I’m paralysed with what to do for this room (literally, bare lightbulb five months after moving in!), which we would like to be a minimalist scandinavian sanctuary. Thank you so much for this great opportunity!
ReplyDeleteThis is just fab and an awesome opportunity! I'm in a desperate need of remastering the room we share: me and my twins, a girl and a boy...you see? 3 of us and even different gender!! The thing is that before my 6yo kids came to my life I just moved to the appartment of my parents. So that all the stuff I brought with me, everything we got thanks to the kid-gang and everything that my parents gathered in some 30 years - it's all here. And it makes me mad... I love the style you share in the blog. And I hope that your crew knowledge and experience could help even such a lousy situation of a family from Saint Petersburg, Russia.
ReplyDeleteKaren Lewis Trendz DeZign,
ReplyDeleteWould love my living room designed, as opening a showcase room for Resin art and artists. Located in a remote town , N. Wilkesboro, N.C moved from rapid City S.D. What an adventure it will be, introducing colour, texture as well as modern with class as you so well present. You blog has blessed and inspired my... go for it!
What an excellent service to offer, I’m sure many people will benefit from your teams professional advice! I would love to be a part of your pilot - I’m in Perth, Western Australia and have lived in my home for 19 years but still haven’t been successful in designing my studio/office/sitting area. It’s a long room with two windows and a door that also leads out to the front veranda. I’ve done quite a bit of work to it (new ceiling, removed all the old wallpaper and repainted, had an artist paint a botanical mural that wraps around two of the walls, and had wooden shutters installed - but I struggle with the layout of the furniture and overall aesthetic of the room. Would really love for you to help finally transform this room and I would be very happy to be a part of the feedback process. Warmest regards, Colleen
ReplyDeleteHi there, many homes that have passed on your blogs over the last years have ended up on one of my moodboards for the 'future' apartement. In the mean time that future is here, I found a small apartement flooded with light with wooden floors in Leuven, Belgium. Only finding the right style to suite the place is not so easy. In the living room I could use some help to find a more calm and comforting atmosphere. My furniture is mismatching and I have a hard time to decide what to put on the walls without making the space feel smaller.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some before and after pictures from these projects on the blog. Or a picture of the room that needs styling combined with your styling tips. Kind regards, Yaana
That would be awesome to have my family room redone. I've saved the cash but the purchasing is where I get cold feet.
ReplyDeleteHello Niki! This comes at such a perfect time. I’ve been in my townhouse for 5 months now and frozen as to how I will decorate. I have poor spatial ability but I know what I like I just need help arranging it!
ReplyDeleteI’d written to you just last week about purchasing your wonderful book... this new service will be perfect!
I'd love to make our living room feel a bit cosier and more pulled together. My wife and I got married last May and we don't have a massive budget, so it would be fantastic to have a professional help us out with how to make our home a better space for a family.
ReplyDeleteWow. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteWe have a spare room that is the "fine dining room", "garbage room", "passing by, pause and dream room". Basically everything but a real room.
The house is from 1911 an we renovated it to the teeth, but this room never got finished. It is an unopened gift, waiting to become something beautiful.
Wow, congratulations Nikki! I've been a loyal reader of My Scandinavian Home for four-and-a-half years now, and it's been a treat to see you grow. This is a beautiful next step... and I LOVE the simplicity and modernity you're bringing to the interior design space with an online platform / form! Bravo!
ReplyDeleteWe've recently moved in to our first owned apartment in a typical 19th Century Amsterdam house on what's argued to be the most beautiful street in Amsterdam. We have two trouble rooms: First, the 'third bedroom' off the living room, which opens into the living space with double doors. We're stuck on how to design this mini-space... is it an office? A guest room? A playroom for our baby daughter? Second, our kitchen: it's the heart of the home, but we haven't started renovations on it yet, so are keen for ideas on how to incorporate modernity alongside our re-finished herringbone floors.
Best of luck, and will be on the lookout for the launch of the service!
Ahhh, this is fantastic! Excited to see how it all unfolds. If I were chosen, I would ask for help with my master bedroom. We are eager to get rid of our 5 year old ikea furniture that (has made it through a cross country move but) is seriously on its last legs...

ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to win this! I would redecorate my upstairs lofty living area. I've been living in my apartment for about 8 years with my partner and sadly, we just separated. I get to keep the house and want to refresh the place for a new start! My loft living room has big windows and hardwood floors. I want to hang new art, get some new key pieces, and change the flow of the room. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDelete- Christina, Toronto
Hello! How great of you to offer this! We've been in a new modern/rustic build for about 8 months now- of course the master bedroom is the last to get "done"...although our look is a mish mash of old family herilooms, nature, and some new things. The challenge is: it's an all-white house, but I wanted our bedroom to have at least one indigo wall (we have a favourite rug that has indigo and a coppery-peach scheme) I need some help-thanks for considering us! Dana
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I could use help with my living room. It's not a huge space, but has windows on three walls, a fireplace and is also the entryway to the house and the hallway from the stairs and front door to the kitchen and rest of the house. It has a high ceiling and is open to the upstairs hallway and loft. The room is nice and light during the day, but once the sun goes down there is a lack of good lighting, even with three lights on in the room. I have a mix of older family furniture pieces and items that I originally bought for another house, including the couch and a chair where the dog spends much of his time. I can't figure out how to make them work together or what to change.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on this new venture! I can imagine a lot of work is involved in getting this off the ground. This service will make interior designers now more accessible to everyone. If I don't win, I'll definitely be calling on your services. My almost 12 year old son needs a new bedroom makeover (including a loft stairs to a sleeping area) and we are a bit lost at the moment on how we should do it. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! I would totally be into this. Right now I'm writing but have been looking for a home to purchase for the last few months and many in my price range are in need of interior design overhaul. However, in my current apartment I would love info on how to decorate my living room/dining room (they are joined).
ReplyDeleteSorry I meant right now I'm renting.
ReplyDeleteI'm the author of the 2 unknown comments above.
ReplyDeleteOh my this is just what I need to hear! I am redecorating my living room at the moment and its such a tricky one to do because its so small. I want my living room to look like the beautiful Scandinavian homes you feature. I would love to win this and turn my space into my very own Scandinavian home! Plus I am renting which gives you a lovely challenge ;) Pick me Niki! Over here :D x
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic opportunity! I have hated my kitchen/dining space since we moved into our house 17 years ago. I have always felt it was too small, but seeing your photos of Scandinavian/European homes, I realize that my kitchen is only small by American standards. I would love your help in uncovering it's full potential! Best of luck to you in this new venture, and thank you for all of the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to decorate my master bedroom!
ReplyDeleteMy town was built by immigrant Norwegian fisherman, starting around 1900. Per built our house for himself and his family (around 1933), after building many others in town. This odd little house has been added onto over the years. I’d like to do the master bedroom, it could feel like a calm retreat as we restore the rest of the house. Right now, it is a super basic room with diagonal large plank red cedar floor (my husband redid) and has a closet with no doors. It has none of the old character of the rest of the house. I recently painted it a subtle cream, but it really doesn’t go with the light greys in the rest of the house.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous idea. If I was lucky enought to win I would love my bedrooom to be redesigned as it was the first room we decorated when we moved here 13 years ago and could do with freshening up. Needless to say my 15 year old daughters room has been redecorated 4 times during this period!!!
