A magnificent white Swedish apartment

Well hello there. How was your weekend? Sunday was a big day in the My Scandinavian Home household - it was the man's birthday! If there's one thing he loves it's the sea, so we treated him for brunch at Bjärreds Saltsjöbad out on the end of a 600 metre long pier (pic here!) before heading to see one of his favourite Swedish singers Lise Ekdahl in concert (Vem vet is one of her most famous songs - must have a listen if you get a mo!).  She was wonderful! Right now I'm on a bit of a white interior streak here on the blog, and it seems it's set to continue ( I think when you see this beautiful apartment in Linnéstaden, Gothenburg you'll understand why!). The vast swathes of white walls and light wood floors are broken up by a mix of Scandinavian design and vintage pieces in subtle touches of black, gold and cognac, allowing the magnificent architecture and feeling of space to take centre stage. How I'd love to be padding around here this morning, how about you?!

No,  you weren't mistaken - yes, this apartment is for sale! Fancy a move to Gothenburg?! Race you there....

Get the look: dining area - Bentwood chairs, these clay plant pots are similar. Bedroom - vintage kimonos look lovely hung on the bedroom wall (and as a cover up over a simple outfit of course!), light grey linen throw.

I've seen the white pendant in the bedroom so many times before but can't for the life of me remember where this morning - can anyone help? Also any tips on that fab white bean bag?

Have a wonderful start to the week!

PS I was so happy to see My Scandinavian Home instagram feed mentioned in Vanity Fair (Italy) this weekend, it's made my week and it hasn't even started - thank you!

  1. Wow, what a beautiful apartment!!! I don´t know which room is more gorgeous! I particularly love the kitchen and the bedroom with that view at the window and incredible big desk!
Happy to hear you had a beautiful weekend celebrating your husband´s birthday. We had a lovely weekend also. Now our routine began again because my youngest daughter came back to school this morning (her last primary school course!), so the autumn is getting closer here in SouthAmerica... I guess you are expecting the spring in the other corner of the world! Cheers!

    1. I love that time of year - it's like a little new start and it's so fun going into a new season! Spring feels a little way off here in Sweden sadly, but I'm always hoping! - This apartment is really beautiful isn't it? /Niki

  2. Rise and shine! 6:45 am here, this side of the pond. I did say we wouldn't get -20°C anymore, but we did this weekend. So it's nice to see that lovely all white apartment to cheer me up. I'm blessed with all white walls and moldings, but never a pretty as those... I do have a small chandelier, but still don't know in which room to put it. Suggestions? Hesitating between kitchen and bedroom. Happy Monday

    1. Minus 20?! Oh no! I don't dare to believe spring is on its way here yet either, we always seem to have one final flurry of snow. Chandeliers look great everywhere in the home, but there's something particularly beautiful about them in the bedroom :) We used to have a vintage chandelier in the sitting room in our last home - the only problem is the ceiling was too low so everyone kept bumping their head on it - it did look fabulous though!

    2. I do have a vintage looking one (faux candles with lampshades) I plan to put it in the sitting room. 10' ceilings helps. My smaller one is all "crystals" plug in one. So it's easy to change from room to room

  3. Absolutely gorgeous space!

  4. Elfa shelves. So hot right now :)
