Johanne's lovely Aalborg apartment in monochrome

Hi, I'm Johanne from Scandinavian Love Song and I'm really happy to be writing a guest post here on My Scandinavian Home blog while Niki is on holiday. I recently quit my job as a communication worker at a fancy art museum to pursue my dream of becoming an interior stylist - a bit daunting, but also very exciting! For the past 2,5 years, my husband and I have lived in this three room apartment in the Danish city, Aalborg. When we bought the apartment, it definitely needed a lot of TLC, so we have practically renovated every single part of the place and are very happy with the result. Niki has previously been so kind to show pictures of our home here on the blog (see right here), but since my husband and I will be moving to another Danish city in a couple of months, I take every opportunity I can to share more pictures of the apartment as I'm truly going to miss it. I have especially come to love our combined kitchen/dining/living room/workspace and we spend most of our time here. I will let the pictures speak for themselves, but if you have any questions, I will make sure to answer them in the comment field :-)

Thanks again, Niki, and enjoy your vacation!

Johanne.

PS Niki will be back again tomorrow with a fab home tour, so don't forget to stop by!

It's full of details and still so simple - love that combination :)

  2. Hey Johanne, I am one of vivid followers of your blog. I truly love your style and your home. I was so happy to see it here as well and I wish you all the best in your new job. I can not point out what I like more: beautiful living room, kitchen or dinning room with that mother and child print (painting).

In the end, can you please share where are your dinning chairs from :)

The chairs are from IKEA, the model is called Sigurd, but unfortunately it seems that they are not selling them anymore. I hope you find something similar :-)

  6. Dear Johanne, thank you for sharing those beautiful pictures of your apartment - I love everything about it! What really stands out to me are the black pendant lights above your dining table. I´ve been looking for such lamps for a long time! Could you please tell me, where you bought them? Thank you very much! Greetings from nothern Germany, Eva

    1. Thank you so much for your sweet comment, Eva! I actually got the lamps from my father-in-law, who had found them at a fleamarket, and then I just spray painted them black. Originally, I believe this lamp was designed by Axel Wedel Madsen in 1951 and colloquially it's called a garage lamp.

Today, it's being reproduced by Made By Hand, but I don't know their retailers in Germany. You find it here though: http://www.casanovafurniture.dk/shop/made-by-hand-7158p.html

Hope that can help you in some way. x Johanne

    2. Dear Johanne, thanks a lot for those details! I was laughing out loud when I read it, because it`s acutally the same lamp I´ve had on my wishlist for some time - although in a different colour (black/black)!;-) They sell it in my favourite design shop: https://www.connox.de/kategorien/leuchten/pendelleuchten/made-by-hand-workshop-lamp-w2.html Just in case, somebody else is interested! Have a nice day! Best, Eva

    1. Thank you so much, Leanne! Well, it has taken years for me to gather the courage to take this leap as well, but at some point I just figured that life is too short not to do it :-) If I fail, at least I can say that I did give it a go after all :-)
