I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading your comments, I've always intended this blog to be interactive and I am so grateful to everyone who takes the time to leave a note. It's also a great way to get feedback. For example yesterday, Brian Hurst commented on how helpful he finds the 'where to buy' tips (phew!) and on Monday someone highlighted the unsolved puzzle on how people store items in these clean, minimalist style homes. Which actually inspired today's post. I saw the bike and thought - now here's an idea! Rather than cluttering up the hall, make your bike a statement piece (not exactly new, see previous post: bicycles as the hot home accessory) but it gave me inspiration to find a place to hang my shiny new Skeppshult! If you visit Stadshem you can also see the smart bedroom storage. Course there are other reasons to show this apartment too, it's fab!
I love the large windows flooding the rooms with natural light and the combination of high street finds (chest of drawers + shelves with hooks from IKEA) and designer items (Ant, Eames sidechair and Butterfly chairs and could that be an Asplund rug?). I picked up my industrial scissor lamp like the one you see in the bedroom after a successful Etsy search (I have to say they're so practical too). The illustration in the window is called 'black and white thoughts' by Trace in Face.

I've seen the clock in lots of places but can't think for the life of me what it's called. I'll check in a local scandinavian designer shop tomorrow...unless anyone else knows?

DeleteThat bike storage would only work if the bike is completely clean and dry. Not very realistic in most places...
ReplyDeleteYes, I agree with you. Even after cleaning the mud off our bikes, they are definitely not clean enough to have on the wall or in a living area. What about oil from the chain too !
DeleteI think it would need to be a designer bike which you rarely use - light weight too or it would be a bit of a struggle getting it up and down and you'd risk the oil on the wall - as you say (and all over yourself in the process). Not a good look!!! :) Does anyone else on here keep their bike on the wall? Perhaps you can shed some light on this?
DeleteHi there! Great post, I think I might get some ideas from the living room area as I am rearranging my space! Now about the bicycle, I own 3 bikes at the moment and I found that a wall mount rack works best for storing them out of the way in a relatively small space. The wall doesn't get dirty as the handlebars are protruding (so the tires and chain never actually reach the wall). Hope this helps!

ReplyDeleteI love the homes that you show on this blogspot. So different from North American (in general). I would love to live in such an uncluttered space but like too many "artsy things". But, I can change and become disciplined. I know that I should probably not say, but I do find that highlighting in pink really difficult to see. Perhaps it is just my old eyes. I especially adore bare floors and white has always been my favourite colour.

If you look very closely above each window you'll see an extremely subtle white roller blind - smart! I'm detemined to find out about the clock today...back shortly!

ReplyDeleteThe rug is from Ellos.se, coffee table is from Bolia.com and I bought the clock almost 10 years ago at Habitat (in London I think)! But I'm sure you can find similar ones today as well.
The bike is my boyfriends racing bike, he only uses it in "dry" weather and always keeps it clean :-)
