Whites and greys in a Swedish apartment

I woke up this morning to a thunderstorm. I love thunderstorms as long as I'm tucked up all cosy indoors. I once sat playing cards with with my family in a summer cottage while a thunderstorm raged outside and it was so cosy! What are your thoughts on thunder and lightening - exciting or frightening?! Do you have any happy memories from one? I hope the weather gets better though as it's actually a four day holiday here in Sweden so we're off for the weekend soon - yoohoo! Before I head off I wanted to leave you with this little gem of an apartment in Gothenburg which has been styled by Alvhem. It's so beautifully arranged and home to so many lovely pieces.

I absolutely love the Flos 365 wall light. I was keen to have it in my sitting room and then I saw it in real life and realised it's actually really big! Perfect if you have a lot of wall space and looking to make a bold statement.

I also love the clothes rail. I've been thinking about buying one from Annaleena's shop for our guest bedroom. She has a lovely blog too.

Anything that catches your eye?

So guys, lots to do before I head off - hurry hurry hurry! I hope you all have a fab weekend and I'll see you Monday!

  9. A quick question: When you say the apartment was "styled by" does that mean they did the interior design for the homeowner, or does that mean it was styled/staged because it's for sale? The reason I ask is that, though there are a lot of lovely things, to me it doesn't look like anyone really lives there. So it seems unattainable.

    1. Good question and to be honest I'm not entirely sure of the extent of the styling; i.e. if the home was bought, done up by and now for sale through Alvhem (although I think this is the case) or they have taken an existing apartment and styled it. Most apartments and homes shown in magazines are quite heavily styled, sometimes you should see the mountains of stuff behind me when I take a picture!!! Ha! It is definitely worth pointing out though that many Swedish homes do have less stuff than say an English home (generalising of course). When my Mum comes to visit from London she's always saying to me 'but where are all your things?!!' and I think because I've lived here minimalism and clutter free has become a bit of a norm.

  10. Its so pristine, classy and white! Sometimes I wish my home could be more like this, but everytime I try and get move some mess it just comes right back :-) With colours, mismatched stuff and fun.. But this is beautiful :-)

  11. I just love the look of the bare lights over the kitchen counter. Pratical too because one would not have to ever dust the light shade. (my husband on the other hand is not too keen on bare lights). I like a good thunderstorm too but just not the hail. Have a great long weekend I will miss reading your blog at the end of my work day tomorrow.

  13. I really miss thunderstorms – we had loads of really dramatic ones when I was growing up, the power used to go out and the board games got dusted off. They are quite rare in London though. And this home is truly beautiful, I really need to aspire to be more minimalist!

  14. Its a lovely home and I love that it is clutter free. On thunder and lightning, my favorite memory is at the Jersey shore at my best friend's beach house - howling wind, rain, thunder, lightning and we were all inside playing board games - so much fun!! Have a great weekend!! ;-)

  20. Hi, I'm wondering if you know where I can find kitchen cabinet handles similar to the ones they have used in this house. They are amazing but I can't seem to find them anywhere. Any help would be great.
