Lisa's Playful, Warm and Relaxed Berlin Home

Friday's home tour calls for somewhere that you'd want to pull up a chair and hang out for a while, don't you think? Warm, inviting and relaxed, I think Lisa's Berlin home fits the bill perfectly!

Located in an altbau (early 20th century) building  the 160 m2 living space has the most wonderful bones (think high ceilings, chequered tiles, beautiful stucco) - but it's the way that Lisa has decorated it that gives it that personal touch. The interior is a blend of Scandinavian design pieces, playful textiles and lovely lamps. A fan of plants and flowers, greenery is never far away despite the urban location.

Ready for some Friday feels?

Secret to chasing the winter blues away? Hang a hammock in the window beside palms so you can relax in the sun and pretend you're somewhere tropical!

If you look closely at Lisa's home, you'll notice lots of playful details, like this curly cushion!

The apartment is full of the most beautiful light thanks to the large windows and balcony doors. Golden touches seen in the yellow walls and chest-of-drawers help to accentuate the warm feel.

Colourful rugs add a vibrant touch and look like art for the floor!

Oh, how I'd love a walk-in-wardrobe like this, how about you?

Lisa's apartment has really got me in the mood for the weekend, are you feeling it too?

Are there any details that caught your eye? Would you consider having a hammock in your home?

So many questions today!

While you ponder your answers, you can see more of this charming Berlin home over at @casa__lottii

The German city is known for its creativity and somewhere I love to visit every now and again (it's only around 6 hours drive from Malmö). Here are some other homes I've featured in the past:

My dear friend Igor's beautiful Berlin home
A light-filled family home with a Nordic touch
An edgy Berlin home full of contrast

Right friends, it's time for me to wrap up here. Thank you so much for stopping by this week, I've loved reading all your comments and happy to hear you have enjoyed the tours!

Kram!

A Traditional Swedish Cottage by the Sea with a Splash of Colour

A few summers ago, my family and I had the pleasure of visiting Saltsjöbad, a beautiful area in the Stockholm archipelago. I was bowled over by the nature, but also found myself captivated by how locals can whizz into central Stockholm by boat to go the theatre, shop - or even commute to work! Imagine that?

Perhaps that's why this charming traditional red and white cottage caught my eye today? Nestled in the woods, the pretty abode feels a world away from civilisation - and yet a boat bobbing on the dock means Sweden's capital city is within easy reach. From the exterior you'd guess that the interior is furnished using antiques, vintage finds and family heirlooms with a traditional touch. But it's full of surprises! Let's take a peek inside to discover more.

The black open-style kitchen has a contemporary touch - and the green wood floor givers the space a unique feel.

In the dining room and sitting room, furniture in vibrant green, red and yellow is a nod to the current trends and adds an unexpected playful touch to the interior. I like that!

The landing also offers some surprises with angular furniture and bold hues - as well as a dark wood floor. A wall mounted desk is a great way to create a home workspace in a small area.

Various patterns in the bedroom add a lovely unique touch, while the painted floor mirrors the woodland surroundings.

I love that this cottage offers something unique, it's always fun to see! Plus, I absolutely love the idea of arriving at a summer cottage by boat - what a dream! Do you agree?

The cottage is currently for sale here (just saying!).

What do you think about the 'pop of red' trend? Do you have primary colours in your home?

Have you been watching the Olympics? I am absolutely loving it! I have a little square up on my screen while I type so I can keep an eye on the synchronised diving!

Have a fabulous start to the week!

This Fabulous Colourful Copenhagen Home is On Airbnb

Hej kompisar! Is it just me, or when planning a holiday or weekend away, the lion's share of the work is in finding the perfect place to stay? I guess it's because, if like me, your environment can add so much to your time away!

The good news is, if you're visiting the Danish capital, I might have saved you hours (weeks... months...?) of scouring the net! Look no further than this incredible three bedroom apartment in the hip neighbourhood of Vesterbro which features sky high ceilings, beautiful period features, original wood floors and incredible light-filled rooms.

Owned and run by host Nikolaj Paaby Normand, the abode is filled with incredible one-off pieces, art, make-you-smile colours and a riot of pattern. Needless to say, these pictures taken by Anitta Behrendt, have graced the covers and pages of some of Denmark's finest interior magazines and the airbnb is considered a firm 'guest favourite'.

Ready to take a nosey around? Step this way!

Have you ever seen such a colourful dining set arrangement? It works thanks to a very calm backdrop, making it a focal point of the room.

The apartment is full of one-off pieces which adds intrigue around every corner.

Colour, texture, and pattern come together in the sitting room, giving the space a relaxed feel. While the furniture and Svenskt Tenn pattern have mid-century appeal. Again, a calm backdrop helps to draw the eye to the centre of the room and ensures the look doesn't become too chaotic.

A calming blue accent wall appears in the bedroom, while the vibrant quilt and cushion ties the look in with the rest of the living space.

Oj oj oj - as they say in Sweden. It's one thing seeing an incredible space like this in a magazine, it's another knowing that you can actually stay in it as an airbnb.

Meet you there?

A Bright, Light and Playful Swedish Home

Hej allihopa! I felt like sharing something light, playful and different today - and this wonderful house fit the bill perfectly! Featured on instagram as @tegelsnackan the Swedish owners of this red brick house in Helsingland in central Sweden love their blonde wood and pops of colour - all set against a fresh white backdrop. They have also thrown in some fun chequered patterns and a few stripes for good measure.

The result is a light and airy house that lifts the spirits, no matter the time of year, but especially when the winter darkness sets in (with a six weeks to go until the winter solstice, I'd say most parts of Sweden are already there.

I love the uniqueness of this home and hope it feels you with ideas for the week to come!

From the exterior you can already see that the owners have dared to be different with a bright red pergola and red window frames to match!

This red theme is continued throughout the interior.

If I am not wrong, I think this is the Arc vase by Danish brand Hay. The original format was 'mirror'  and the owners have painted it fire engine red!

Also, spot the horse on the shelf? This is known as a Dalahäst (Dala horse), and is traditionally carved out of wood before being hand painted. It originates from the county of Dalarna - and has become a popular symbol for Sweden as a whole!

From a distance the checks in the hallway look like tiles, but look closer and you'll see that they have been painted onto a wood floor. This is a trick swedes have used for hundreds of years. Tiles have traditionally been very expensive where as it doesn't cost much to buy paint to create a similar affect. I have always loved this idea!

A lick of yellow around the room ensures the sun is always shining, even if it's grey outside!

Also, check out the IKEA storage used as a wall mounted bedside table - very clever!

Aaaaah, I so enjoyed this tour, did you?  It's fun to see something different. Very refreshing!

Are there any ideas here that you can imagine using for your own home?

If you're not already following @tegelsnackan on instagram, hop over right away!

Wishing you a fabulous start to the week!
