Inside a Beautiful Light Swedish Villa That’s Bathed in Natural Light

Do you ever find yourself slipping onto estate agent websites, dreaming over local villas that are wildly out of budget — but irresistible all the same? It’s a pastime I’m no stranger to. I confess, on more than one occasion, I’ve even turned up to viewings — Per in tow — looking completely bewildered!

This villa, to me, is one of those dreamy homes. Had it been closer, I’d have certainly signed up for the viewing!

Located in picturesque Gamla Enskede, Stockholm, the villa has everything I love in a home: a pretty façade, a beautiful, light and airy entrance (complete with a window seat — after all, a girl needs to be comfortable when taking off her shoes, right?), large open-plan rooms, each with a traditional tiled masonry fireplace, high ceilings, a dining nook drenched in light, and the perfect party kitchen! Be still, beating heart.

While it's simply decorated, the fresh white, grey and green tones create the perfect blank canvas to springboard into your own design palette, ready for your signature touch. Time to get those Pinterest moodboards going? Oh, what fun I could have with this one.

Breathtaking property! It’s all that sunshine pouring in that I really love. One of the beautiful things about open-plan living is how the entire space feels light, airy, and spacious, creating a wonderful sense of calm.

Could you imagine living in a Swedish house like this? If so, you can find out more about it here. And if you happen to be the lucky one to snap it up… could I at least invite myself over for a cup of tea?

  1. I look around and dream too, and get it from my husband too often:) Beautiful windows and the home is unique. Yes, its the light and airy feel that's so welcoming. I wouldn't change a thing, except for family photographs. Loved the cobbled stone path leading to the entrance. Have a lovely sunlit week!

  3. Oh! I'm quite disappointed with this house! I didn't expected to see so white interior when they have such vibrant facade.

    1. Agree! The inside is almost too discreet for me, I would prefer more color though I love the mint kitchen.

    2. Same for me, the eexterior is charming, the interior too white and cold.

    3. Yes, the white and grey is definitely not for everyone - but it has such a great potential to be really fantastic - the layout is wonderful and I love the size of the rooms and those large windows! :)

  4. I love how light and airy this is. I'd definitely keep the scalloped headboard--so sweet! I would want to inject some color into the interior, but that would be simple to do with a few pillows, throws, and accent pieces, and the great thing about neutral interiors is that you can switch out your color scheme with a minimum of effort and money.

  7. I am in love with the sun dappled porch. I would add lots of blue accents in spring and summer, rusts and oranges for fall and then lots and lots of red with green accents for the Christmas holiday and beyond (red for Valentines Day, right??). After that the only thing left to add would be friends and family as this would be such a great space for gatherings. It's a wonderful space and I loved looking at it!! If this is staged to sell, I think anyone could imagine the things they would add to make it home.....and that is how you make the sale!!

    1. I love your vision - and how it changes with the seasons. I think you're right, the 'blank canvas' makes it easy to envision yourself living here with your belongings. Very clever!

  8. I am beginning to incorporate the sheep furs into our home. Does anyone have care tips? Like in the home above, they often appear matted. Is this from laundering them? Can the pelts go through home machines or do they go to dry cleaner, or someplace special. I am in USA and recently discovered our Scandinavian ancestry. Thanks for any responses, in advance.

    1. Sheep furs come in many different types, from different types of sheep. The ones in the home above are probably from a short haired type, like Gotland sheep for example. You very rarely need to wash your sheep furs, wipe them off and/or vacuum when needed, and air them out. For long haired sheep furs you might want to brush them with a soft brush if the fur gets to compact. You need to check with the store you bought yours from when it comes to washing og dry cleaning, as this depends not just on the length of the fur, but also the cemical treatements used.

  9. So soothing. I love how the green foliage from the outside and the creamy white interior create a magical place. The clear glass vases are perfect with a bouquet or single stem.
