A lovely monochrome and light wood Swedish home

Hello! It's the weekend, yay! I have three reasons to be excited: I'm holding a really fab give-away which I know you're going to love, we're going to bring in our Christmas tree and thirdly it's my birthday (yes, I do love a little birthday love!) and I know my girls have been working away on little cards, sweet!  But first, the all important home tour. And today I'd like to share an oh so fab Gothenburg apartment for sale through Entrance.  The home has been decorated using a monochrome theme throughout softened by lovely light wood. Oh how I could see myself padding around here this weekend, how about you?!

Entrance

I particularly love the touch of pastel and original wood flooring. Is there anything that stands out to you?

A bit of a what's what in terms of the items we see: the mid-century style pendant light in the kitchen is by Gubi. The string lights are from Granit (I have the same in the corner of my sitting room). The dining chairs are Fritz Hansen 7 series. The shelving in the sitting room is String. On the top shelf I spy the By Lassen Kubus candle holder and the Design House Stockholm Nordic Light candle holder. Anything missing?

If you're planning on a little Christmas decorating this weekend, I came across this really lovely DIY wall hanging yesterday.  There's also a ton of inspiration here and here and some of my favourite Christmas home tours ever here (so cosy) and here (so cool). Deck the halls with boughs of holly.....

See you tomorrow for the big advent give-away - Exciting! Have a lovely day!

A danish home at Christmas

The Danes are famous for their beautiful Christmas decorations. Have you ever walked through Nyhavn in Copenhagen at Christmas? The quayside is transformed into a winter wonderland and festooned with fairy lights and fir tree branches. Christmas market stalls line the quay and the aroma of roasted chestnuts, almonds and glogg (mulled wine) fills the air. This danish home is a fine example of how beautifully Danes decorate for Christmas. Every single room has a touch of the festive spirit, even the bathroom and I love the rustic festive feel.

Is there any Christmas inspiration you'll be taking from this home?

I love how presents are dotted around the house, although I think the temptation might be too much for my little girls! I also love the irregular shaped Christmas tree - so pretty! For more Christmas tree inspiration I love this 'pared-back style' or for a modern touch - these very fun christmas tree alternatives

Here are a few snaps I took of our Christmas tree last year. We always go out to a place in the forest where you are allowed to chop down your own tree, it's one of my favourite days of the year.

One present I'll be buying this Christmas (look away now brother-in-laws) is a gift card for a tailored t-shirt from Son of A Tailor. Basic tees will continue to be big in the style stakes for 2015 and this Copenhagen based company offer the perfect opportunity to 100% tailor your own classic organic cotton t-shirt - even the gift card itself comes beautifully packaged. Such a perfect present don't you think?!

Have a great day!

PS does anyone know the full credits for these images, I'd love to update the post? Thank you.

The fab industrial style atelier of a creative

Good morning! I do love the middle of the week, although I've got so much to left to do before the weekend. How about you?! Speaking of graft, I'm often thinking about how important my work environment is.  I'd absolutely love to sit in an uber cool creative studio.  This industrial style studio bathed in light, belongs to Sara Bergman, children's book illustrator and creative force behind online shop and interior styling company Love Warriors in Stockholm. Exposed brick work,  vintage industrial finds, concrete flooring and rustic wood  combine to make up a space a space in which Sara can create.

Sara N Bergman of Love WarriorsResidence magazine. Photographer: Kristofer Johnsson. Post inspired by Coco Lapine with thanks.

Could you work here? I most definitely could! What a space?

Interestingly while the space is teeming with vintage finds, the desk space is made up of a few pieces from IKEA including the ALEX draw unit and FORSÅ desk light (which I also have in my home office). Etsy is one of my favourite sources for vintage industrial lighting (it's where I found my treasured scissor light). For pendant lights I like the black E27 suspension light from Muuto.

For more studio / office space inspiration I'm loving this, this and this one. Or if you have a small home office I love this work space of a Finnish blogger.

Before I shoot off I also wanted to introduce you to ReStyle Shop on Etsy. If you love Scandinavian mid-century or geometric prints you'll love this online shop selling art created by Czech Republic graphic designer Jan Skácelik. I especially love this one and this one.

I think it's definitely time for some Christmas inspiration tomorrow don't you? Pop back for some very cool Scandinavian inspired festive decorating ideas! See you then!

Shades of grey in the perfect Swedish apartment

I love December. Dark days are brightened by twinkling fairy lights and lit candles. And chairs made comfy by big sheepskin throws. So cosy! Grey is the colour du jour this December and it's been warmly embraced by this Gothenburg apartment. The apartment itself is so spacious and has beautiful bones which lends itself to a multitude of fab decorating ideas.  You can catch a glimmer of the festive season through the mini Christmas tree and hyacinths. I could pad about here for the day, how about you?!

Stadshem
Where to start?! The beautiful wood floor? the angled walls? The extended open clothes rail in the bedroom? This apartment is like a master class in creating the perfect space!

A few items I know and love: Z1 cotton lamp, striped basket (free shipping today), HAY tray table, Eames DSR chair, Panton chair. The golden bell light and grey blanket are similar. The cluster glass ball light is by House Doctor, it's so great isn't it? I'm seeing it more and more in scandinavian inspired homes.

A little note to mention today is the last day to receive free shipping on all items from Great.ly - so if you're after pretty Christmas decorations, or presents (a cute clutch for a friend or a print for yourself) today's the day!

Have a fab day and see you tomorrow!

The unique and fabulous home of a Swedish stylist

Hello! I hope you're having a great start to the week?! Mine just got a whole lot better after discovering the home of Swedish stylist Marie Olsson Nylander and her family which is currently for sale (I know, hurry!). Situated in Höganäs, a small town in Skåne, Sweden not far from where my parents-in-law live, Marie's home is teeming with unique finds and blends morroccan, industrial, vintage and rustic styles for an entirely unique look. This isn't the first time I've admired Marie's work, her previous home in Arild is one of the most popular homes ever to be featured on my sandinavian home. Enjoy the tour....

Marie Olsson NylanderValvet.

What a fabulous home, don't you think?! I love the dark grey and gold combination. Is there anything that stands out to you?

Höganäs really is a great town. Whenever I am up visiting my parents-in-law I always take the time to pop into Magasin 36 for brunch and a shop. I can highly recommend a visit.

Before I shoot off, two things. First, I'm so excited to introduce a new sponsor today. Philadelphia based jewelers Bario Neal creates stunning jewelry using reclaimed precious metals including Fairmined gold, ethically sourced stones and low-impact environmentally conscious practices. I'd be delighted to receive any one of their beautiful pieces for Christmas (please let my husband read today's post....). I'm particularly in love with their collection of bands and bracelets. And those engagement rings....sigh.

Thanks to everyone for entering the Daniel Wellington give-away at the weekend. The winner will be notified today, All is not lost if your name doesn't come up - you can receive 15% off ant timepiece using the code myscandinavianhome (valid until 31st December). Perfect!

Have a lovely day!
