A Finnish space fit for a superhero

Good morning! I hope you had a great weekend? Last week I went out for a drink with Peggy of wonderful children's blog Paul & Paula and it got me thinking how long ago I showed fabulous children's space inspiration. The monochrome and wood 'superhero' children's bedroom and playroom have been created by Finnish blogger Sini for her little boy and girl. Sini has personalised many of the items in the two rooms which just goes to show what you can do with a little DIY. For example I love the way she has jazzed up a white STUVA cupboard with half moon stickers and a MALM chest of drawers with black rain drops. And how cute is the 'superhero sleeping' garland?!

A quick round up of items I know and love:  TUVBRÄCKA black and white striped bedding, STRING shelving, MUUTO dots coat hook, Ferm Living wire basket. Man in the moon print, personalised letters garland, lego storage. Mini rain drop stickers and other fab stickers by Ferm Living. Pear shaped wooden play house from Rock & Pebble. The curtain fabric is Kulkue by Finnish brand Marimekko.

I love this very simple yet extremely clever half moon DIY project too.

What a perfect space for a super hero don't you think?!

PS for children's clothes my favourite shops are Smallable (always a favourite for Scandinavian designer brands) and Polpettine for absolutely beautiful girls clothes. Do you have any favourite stores?

Have a lovely start to the week!

A stunning Gothenburg home with a black floor

The Friday home tour always calls for something extra special. So this morning I've been hunting high and low for a space which I think is simply amazing. And this is it. A Gothenburg apartment with beautiful high ceilings, white walls and grounded by a black floor to create a homely feel. I love the cognac and grey accents and the beautiful classical wishbone (or CH24) chairs in the dining room too. What a fabulous home, don't you think?!

What do you love about this home?

You can take a look through the entire Stadshem archive (for beautiful home after beautiful home inspiration) here.

Incidentally I can't believe how popular yesterday's home tour was. On Facebook alone it's already received over 470 likes and 23 shares - incredible! So great to see!

Before I head off, I've got a quick reminder: I'll be holding a really exciting weekend give-away here on My Scandinavian Home over the next two days so don't forget to stop by and enter, it will be open to everyone!

Have a lovely day!

The blonde nordic apartment

If I were to start renovating my home again from scratch I'd go for the 'blonde nordic' look. Light grey walls and white washed wood floors. Lots of natural light.  Add monochrome and pastels and I'm totally sold. This apartment is the perfect example of 'blonde nordic' in my eyes (do you agree?!). I love the addition of the exposed brickwork in the sitting room and the occasional pop of yellow and green. Such a lovely space!

What do you think, your kind of space?

For more pastel inspiration it's worth taking a peek at this, this and this home (in case you missed them before!). Or for more bold colours, this home will make you smile.

I'm sometimes e-mailed about why I rarely show TV's in the home tours on here. The answer is that I feel they rarely look good (although I know they're a necessary piece of equipment!). But in this home I think the owners / stylists have been really clever at incorporating one in a way that looks clean and stylish. Don't you agree?

On the subject of TV's, how do you have yours in your home? Is it hidden or on display? Do you have a giant one or a small subtle one? Or perhaps you have a projector (if so I'm intrigued about how you find it as I'm tempted....?!).

Have a lovely day!

A Skåne apartment with a lovely autumn feel

Hello October! What a lovely month. One of my favourites in fact, how about you? These images, by the very talented Skåne duo Emma  Persson Lagerberg (stylist) and Petra Bindel (photographer) have been doing the blog rounds lately. I first spotted the feature in Swedish department store Åhléns's magazine last month. The way this beautiful apartment has been designed and styled perfectly sums up the Autumn mood don't you think? I especially love the green, grey and brass theme in the sitting room and the kitchen's pretty cool too?!

Stylist: Emma Persson Lagerberg. Photographer: Petra Bindel. For Åhlens. Via 79 ideas and Nordic Design with thanks

Oh so beautiful. Is this your kind of style?

You can see more examples of spaces Petra has photographed herehere and here.

If you find yourself in Sweden (or Norway) definitely pop into an Åhlens, they have such a great home-ware and women's clothes section selling fabulous Swedish fashion labels such as Hope, Filippa K and Acne.

Have a lovely day!
