Fab Nordic interior decorating book

I am often asked via e-mails or Facebook if I'd recommend a Scandinavian Interior Design book. Then this little gem of a book by Danish couple Iben Ahlberg & Niels Ahlberg popped into my inbox. Developed for iPad and downloadable from the iBook store; 'New Style Generation GEN.TWO', presents 'an elegant mixture of cosmopolitan, wilderness and vintage' and in my eyes ninety pages of general Nordic interior fabness!

New Style Generation, Photographers & writers: Iben Ahlberg and Niels Ahlberg
I'm planning on stealing half an hour this Christmas to sit and enjoy the iBook in a quiet corner by the fire, luxury!

This afternoon I'm off to see my little girls in a 'Luciatåg' (St Lucia train) at their nursery. My four year old is dressing up as St Lucia with a candle crown and my two year old will be a little gingerbread girl. I told them to sing nice and loud as I left them this morning and my eldest said 'no, the teacher says we have to sing at the same height as all the other children'! Ah well! Since it's well below minus and snowing there'll be glögg and pepperkaka to warm the cockles after the performance :) I can't wait!

Have a lovely evening and happy Lucia!

A beautiful relaxed art studio

I stumbled across the fantastic site Coffeeklatch which captures the work spaces and homes of creative people, via fab blog SF Girl By Bay and what a find! The latest interview features the Ghent loft studio of creative duo Jan and Delphine of IETS who work with visual art projects including productions, pop-up shops and interior design.

To me, this is a perfect example of a relaxed, creative space where everyone is welcome and which is also practical. The large open plan area is crammed with interesting vintage finds and different spaces to relax, work, get inspiration, eat and roam around on a tricycle. I wonder, f you worked here would you call it 'work?!'

What's your work /studio space like?

All pictures shared with kind permission from Coffeekatch.

Pretty patterns in a children's bedroom

My little girls share a room and my cheeky youngest one has just moved out of her cot which has given me the perfect excuse for some re-decorating, ANY EXCUSE! This means I'm looking for a little new inspiration (cue: an excuse to spend hours on Pinterest, other fab blogs and beautiful online children's shops. One of my favourite stores (as well as my sponsor), Ferm Living is never short of ideas for little children's rooms. I love this space for example.

Ferm Living

What do you think? I love the pretty colours, patterns and wall displays. The one thing I'd add though is a huge rug for some warmth. My girls have the same brio oven and the Minnen bed is from IKEA.

I'm also looking for gorgeous matching bedding;  the pretty yellow Dotty bedding from Ferm Living or the 'deer' bedding from By Nord. Hmm. What do you think? Or perhaps another tip?! One thing I have definitely decided on is the Inke Heiland April tree for their wall, so pretty!

PS This is not a sponsored post, I just loved this little room and had to share the space and my ideas :)

PPS For those of you more interested in big people things - how about this fab online shop 'rock n roll London' for vintage statement pieces in brass and metallics where 'more is more'?!

My home: sitting room + WINNER!

Hello! And happy Monday! I'm recovering from a wonderful brithday weekend in snowy Kullaberg where we enjoyed a traditional Swedish julbord at Kullagårdens Wärdshus. I feel like one very spoilt girl! Meanwhile, back at the ranch I set about putting a few cosy Christmas touches to our sitting room while the snow fell outside. I love the simplicity of white Amarylis and Hyacinth's at Christmas. So pretty!
And before I forget I have an important announcement to make too...the winner of the beautiful Kay Bojesen Grand Prix 16 piece cutlery set......

Photographs: My Scandinavian Home

....drum roll please!......the winner is Merrilee from Cake, Crumb and Pudding. Congratulations! Please contact me within the next 14 days. And thank you all for your wonderful entries I wish you all could have won. The good news is that you can visit the Kay Bojesen Facebook page where they'll be holding more give-aways in the up coming months (and everything will shortly be translated into English for yours truly!) :)

I hope you all had a lovely weekend too?
