Maria's Colourful Apartment Will Brighten Up Your Day!

It's very grey here in Malmö today which made it almost impossible to get out of bed this morning (not helped by my new bedroom make-over!). To pep things up a little, I thought I'd go for some colour, what do you think? Maria-Silva Villbrandt's home in Wedding (love the name!), Berlin is just the ticket! Maria is a content creator and manager for the popular lifestyle blog Herz und Blut, founded by her sister Jules. Her creativity transcends through to her apartment, which is made up of a spacious kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. Maria has created a wonderful, unique living space which is a sea of vibrant colours and full of interesting art, eclectic furniture and interesting details. Ready to feel inspired?

Maria's pink kitchen is from Burger Küchenmöbel. The TR Bulb, Suspension Frame light from Menu hangs over the countertop.

A Flowerpot portable table lamp* sits atop a vintage table for two in the kitchen. But the showstopper is the striped curtains - very funky and different! Try Etsy* for similar.

'Illegal Party' lithograph by Stefan Marx (I see there are only a few left on his site). Colourful art by Janes Haid-Schmallenburg. Ambit Lamp* by Muuto.

Art by Fabienne, Jules Villbrandt, and GABE. The cabinet is by Swedish brand String

Colourful parasols are the way forward right now. This fine specimen is from Business & Pleasure Co. I also love the ones by Sunday Supply (here's Ali and I enjoying our yellow and white striped one on the beach a few weeks ago! - yes, I'm on TikTok - just trying to find my feet, with a lot of help from my girls! Are you on there too?).

Speaking of sunny yellow, Maria's sofa is from the young furniture brand Noah Living

One of the big Danish colour trends this Autumn (discovered at Formland) is a yellow accent combined with lavender and coral, as seen above!

Colourful Montana shelving (on the far side of the sofa) is used to display a variety of eclectic pieces including on-trend colourful twisted candles*, a flowerpot lamp* as well as books.

Such an inspiring home! I loved all the colour, it's really brightened up my day - and given me a load of ideas.

Has Maria's home put a spring in your step and inspired you, too?

See more of her home over at @ponysailor - and feel inspired by her wonderful travel, food and beauty stories over at Herz und Blut

Looking for more colour today? I love:

Wishing you all a bright, sunshin-ey day (who knows, the sun might even make an appearance here at some point!).

Fabulous bright and zesty inspiration from Inside Out

I have several favourite interior magazines which I've followed for years but lately I've started to branch out a little. All the way to Australia in fact. Here are some pictures from the recently launched September issue of Inside Out magazine.  I think they give you a great idea of the kind of fabulous contemporary spaces the team at Inside Out find. Whether it's the bright zesty colours, the odd designer pieces or simply the cool take on the latest design trends and of course the cute dog, I'm all over Brunswick House, designed by Clare Cousins Architects. Perfect inspiration for the weekend don't you think?

Do you know what? I absolutely love a statement splash of yellow, it makes such a great impact! I love the way the yellow geometric prints on the wall are balanced by a bunch of bananas on the table too, very cool styling by Marsha Golemac!

Is there anything that stands out to you or that you love about these spaces?

Very brief I spy: Hay cushion in yellow, Muuto The Dots hooks, Thonet 214 chairs around the dining table, and the Forså chrome desk light from IKEA.

I hope you have a really great weekend, see you Monday!

Sponsored post: getting organized with Post-it® notes

We're all familiar with Post-it® notes. After all, they've been around for 35 years (where would we be without the trusty canary yellow Post-it?!). That's why last week I was super excited to receive a package containing a whole load of Post-it® products including the new larger size Post-it® Super sticky Notes! Oh yes! With new size ranges from from XL to XXXL (yes, it's true 'super-size me' stuff going on there), lined or unlined - and in all kinds of vibrant colours such as yellow, pink, orange, purple, green and blue, I finally have a place for my extra long to-do-lists. And no excuse not to get my home office in order (a bit of organisation was well overdue *red face*!). I thought you might like to see the results...

My Scandinavian Home - photo / home Niki Brantmark styling Genevieve Jorn

Looking pretty organised don't you think (my man did a double take when he got home!)?!

I defy you not to love the larger size Post-it® Super sticky Notes. I noticed they really are super sticky, super long lasting, can stick on almost anything and are super restickable too (that's a lot of 'supers'!). The only thing is my girls love them too, so they're disappearing at a rapid rate....another box please?

If you'd like to put them to the test, you can sign-up to receive a free sample in Sweden.

Notice how I still put the trusty smaller canary yellow ones to good use too?

This post is sponsored by 3M. However, all words are my own. I only ever collaborate with partners that I love and which I think you'll love too. Thank you for supporting the sponsors which make My Scandinavian Home possible.

Lisa's happy Parisien home

I'm in the mood for something bright and cheerful today, how about you?! Want to come with me to explore the happy Parisien home of Lisa, blogger behind Make My Lemonade, Creative director at Lemonade Studio and Wear lemonade? Addicted to yellow and sequins, Lisa lives by the philosophy: 'if life gives you lemons, make lemonade.' Love that! Her lovely apartment in the 10th arrondissement of Paris is full of quirky one off pieces and touches of pink, blue, green, and of course yellow! Bienvenue!

Credit: InsideCloset shared with kind permission.

This makes me want to go home and add splashes of yellow everywhere - how about you?! It's just such a happy colour!

A few items I know and love in Lisa's home: Petite Friture suspension vertigo (pink light) - also seen in this home, Eames side chairs, Eames rocker, sheepskin throw, source banana leaf fabric by the yard here (love this!). Pick up rattan sunburst mirrors here.

For equally cheerful style inspiration check out the full post on Inside Closet and Lisa's website Make My Lemonade

The colours and textures in this home remind me of some of the lovely homes from The Netherlands I've featured- don't you think?

Have a happy day!

Elodie's very cool Bordeaux townhouse

My younger sister and her beau are getting married just near Bordeaux, France this summer. So exciting! We're busy exploring places to stay right now which is why this beautiful French townhouse struck a chord with me today. You may have seen the dining room shot with the tulip chairs and fabulous artwork from this Bordeaux home before but the rest of the home is equally fantastic. I particularly love the touches of mustard yellow, how about you?

A big merci to Julien Fernandez  of Amandine & Jules interior photography for the kind permission. Via House of C

Did you spot the flamingo?!

The photographer behind these images, Julien Fernandez has been working on a wonderful personal project called 'we are inside' in which he has taken a sequence of images of French creatives in their studios / creative spaces. The photographs are so inspiring and well worth a look.

If you fancy a little more yellow inspiration today you might want to check out this link. It's amazing how spirits can be lifted in a space by adding one simple item in a bright hue! Do you have any yellow in your home?

Before I head off, I'm really excited to introduce a new sponsor, LiveAuctioneers. The spaces I show on here often feature antique and vintage items or mid-century finds and LiveAuctioneers is a great source for these fab treasures. I hope you'll join me in welcoming LiveAuctioneers to the fold.

Have a lovely day!

A Small-ish Danish Home With a Vibrant, Sunny Feel!

Hejsan! I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It was really sunny here, but wow was there a vicious northerly wind blowing - brrrrrrr! Even so, midsummer is a mere 8 weeks away and we're loving the long hours of sunlight up here in the North! It's at this time of year when smallish spaces and 'attic' apartments without balconies can start to feel a little closed in and removed from the vibrant spring / summer outside. But, if you're smart like 26-year-old nursery teacher Louise, who lives in a beautiful 46 square metre (495 sq. ft) apartment on the top floor of an old building in Aarhus, Denmark, it's easy to add a summer vibe. Louise has decorated her two-room apartment (made up of an open-plan kitchen / dining area and bedroom which also doubles up as her living room) with pastel coloured art, accessories, pretty summer dresses and vibrant plants and flowers - all of which help to bring a ray of sunshine to the space, even on a grey day!

Louise has opted for mainly whitewashed walls which help to bounce the light around and give the illusion of space. while an accent wall adds a great focal point and creates contrast.

Kitchenware in fresh pastel hues also add a summery vibe, while a canvas director chair adds a beachy touch.

Sunny yellow tulips and daffodils brighten up a dark corner around the sink.

A lemon tree brings an instant touch of the med to the windowsill and a white table helps to add the bounce around. The print on the back wall is from Copenhagen-based By Garmi

FYI I also have a lemon tree in my home which I bought last spring. I'm proud to announce that it's survived the winter but there are no lemons to be seen - what have I done wrong? Honestly though, I'm just proud it's still alive!

Notice how wall to wall storage units double up as seating in the dining area - a smarty small space solution.

Art with pastel tones by the likes of local Danish artists Lotte Neupart and Pernille Bitsch adds a soft, summery touch to the bedroom wall while  lemon yellow under bed storage crates from Hay add a fresh touch to the room.

Some summer dresses are way too pretty to be kept hidden in a wardrobe - put them on display like Louise has done - so even if it's too cold to wear them you can still appreciate them each and every day! These ones are from Boii Studios.

Linen bedding in pale yellow and pink from H&M Home add a pretty touch to the bed. Just add a coffee and a croissant (and maybe a fresh glass of orange juice!).

A lit candle - because, well, hygge.

The pretty town of Aarhus is a must visit if you're in Denmark - and a walk by the coast his perfect for blowing away the cobwebs, or a dip if you dare!

What a lovely home - and such great inspiration for spring / summer too, don't you think?

You can see more pics of Louise's charming home here

Shall we take a look at a few other lovely attic spaces today? here are a few of my favourites:

Wishing you all a great start to the week - I hope the sun is shining where you are too!
