An artist's turn-of-the-century house and studio

Morgon, morgon! How are you today? I've got a busy day ahead with photoshoots! I'm also eagerly awaiting the postman as I have a sneaking suspicion he might be delivering the first copy of my new book. Eeeeee - so exciting! I can't wait to finally get it in my hands! I'm settled at home this morning - wearing something definitely not deemed fit for the outside world! A few weeks back I mentioned that I'd love to move out of my home office (as lovely as it is) and work from a studio (yes, I realise this means getting dressed properly!). Having said that, artist Kate Tucker and her husband Tom Crago have solved this by building a modern studio in the garden of their turn-of-the-century Edwardian home in Fitzroy North, an inner city suburb of Melbourne. When they first bought the house it was in desperate need of repair. Even so, the pair lived in it for a while first - which helped them to determine which features they should restore and which to update. They ended up adding a modern extension as well as adding a separate atelier in the garden for Kate to sit and paint, yet also maintained many of the homes original features. The result is a beautiful living space which artfully combines old and new (with plenty of storage to boot!). Let's take a peek....

Oh to have a big enough garden to create a studio (or 'she shed' - remember this and this one?!). I also love the bedroom and the shelving above the door - such a great use of space!

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Get the look from Kate and Tom's home: studio - find where to buy Kate's work here, source vintage armchairs here (how stunning is this pair - a one-off though so you'll need to be quick!). Sitting room -  pick up a scissor lamp here, the fabulous egg chair. Dining area - Eames chair, Y chandelier (love this!), source a teak mid-century credenza / sideboard here. Bedroom - this pink linen pillow case is similar (liking the ruffle!).

Artilleriet studio in rich dark tones and light pink accents

Popping in early morning before today's photo shoot to share these lovely images from the new Artilleriet studio snapped by one of my favourite Swedish bloggers Johanna Bradford. For those of you not familiar with it,  Artilleriet is a fab interior store in Gothenburg. The studio has been created as part of their 5 year celebrations. I must plan a visit as soon as possible (road trip anyone?!). In the meantime - we can take inspiration from their studio with it's rich dark colours and soft pink accents. So lovely?!

15 Fabulous Danish Spaces That Will Brighten Up Your Day

Nothing puts a smile on your face quite like a home with a touch of colour (OK puppies, kittens etc might also do the trick - but I'm talking strictly Scandinavian interiors here!). And in my mind, no one does colour quite like the Danes. Our Nordic friends seem to have a knack of finding shades that are both bold and earthy in equal measure. Think soft pink, deep blue and mid greens applied to walls, pieces of furniture or a subtle hint in a painting or book jacket. Either way, combined with whitewashed walls and floors as well as art and books, and the overall look is fresh, vibrant, relaxed and effortlessly stylish. Another Studio, a Danish creative content and product development studio run by Julie Wittrup Pladsbjerg (who's home I recently featured here) and Mikkel Dahlstrøm, has an innate ability to seek out some of Denmark's finest homes for interior magazines. My Scandinavian Home Studio Online Interior Design Service Now Live!! + A Tour of The Studio in a Converted Factory

I've pushed myself out of my comfort zone many times with my business over recent years (cue: heart thumping and eyes wide open while the rest of the house enjoys a peaceful slumber! - do you recognise the feeling?). But nothing prepared me for the amount of effort it would take to set-up a My Scandinavian Home online interior design service!! The reason was that I was really keen for it to offer just the right type of help you might need with your home - whether that's re-arranging the furniture you already have, creating a beautiful room from scratch that tells your story or simply adding that Scandinavian touch.

And today, the My Scandinavian Home Studio affordable online interior design service is finally live!! PHEW! And YAY! And everything in between!

The fab Danish home and studio of a photogapher

Today I thought we'd step inside the fascinating Copenhagen home and studio of Danish photographer Ditte Isager, which she shares with her husband Christian, and little son, Wilder. The space has unexpected looks around every corner - including a cosy sitting room with dark green walls, a calm dining room in muted tones and a modern work studio made entirely from wood (connected to the house via a repurposed staircase).  The home has been decorated with a wonderful mix of Danish classics, vintage finds and items collected on travels.  Let's take a tour!

Although the entire space is pretty fabulous the studio really stands out to me. I love that they've successfully combined it with a guest house / place for the kids to hang out. Is there anything that stands out to you?

Get the look: Sitting room - F&B paint, Arne Jacobsen chair. Kitchen: the cabinets are bespoke - try IKEA's MÄRSTA for similar. This vintage industrial kitchen island is similar (and lovely!). Dining room: Ochre chandelier. Bathroom: Gubi table lamp. Studio: made using Dinesen douglas pine, series 7 swivel chair, source a vintage industrial stool here.

A lovely Swedish studio / outhouse in 25m2

Hello! Sorry for the radio silence yesterday! Photo shoot done and dusted and I'm happy to be back home tapping away on my laptop in the garden! One day I dream of having an outside space large enough to build a little outhouse to use as a studio, or simply to sit back and drink tea in all day (now wouldn't that be lovely?). Swedish interior designer Pella Hedeby has recently built a white clapboard studio in her garden. And just like her wonderful home, the space is pared back with a monochrome scheme. Wood and cork adds warmth to the over all look and feel, and there's even a loft bed for those afternoon siestas....all in 25 square metres (269 square feet). Inspiring or what?!

Could you imagine having somewhere like this to retreat to at the end of your garden? I love how it can be used as a guest house too....

A few items I know from Pella's studio:  cork stool, pick up a vintage stool here (I love this one!), wishbone chair, By lassen candleholder, Japanese cast iron teapot, Gotland sheepskin throw, white linen bedding.
