The fabulous Danish home of an interior designer

It's Friday - yaaaaaay! And have I got a home tour to celebrate?! If you popped by on Wednesday you'll remember this fabulous danish home. And today, we're going to take tour around the home of the designer behind it - Natalia Sánchez Echevarria. Founder of Copenhagen based interior design company Spatial Code, Natalia has also lived in Barcelona, Paris, Vienna and New York (such great cities!). Her interior design philosophy is to create a personal identity working with textures, tactility and details using natural materials, handmade furniture and sensuous textures. Her own Danish home is testimony to this.  Let's take a peek....

Homeowner / stylist: Natalia Sánchez Echevarria / Spatial Code. Photography: Line Thit Klein - shared with kind permission

A few items I know and love: Tulip dining table, Möller chairs model 75. For a similar bed spread try this one.  Black String shelving. Bestlite wall lamp.

That lovely light green paint in her bedroom seems to be a part of Natalia's signature style. It's such a pretty colour, don't you think? Try Farrow & Ball Borrowed Light for similar.

Is there anything in particular that stands out to you?

A very special thank you to Danish photographer extraordinaire, Line Thit Klein who gave me permission to share not one but two of the fabulous homes she's photographed this week. Line is one of my favourite interior photographers and always finds the loveliest homes. More home tours by Line here, here and here.

I'll be back tomorrow with a really exciting weekend give-away - for everyone! So if you have the time make sure you pop back!

Have a wonderful Friday!

Yvonne Koné's black and white home

Hej! Hope you had a a lovely weekend? My family and I went on a trip to Söderåsen nature reserve. The trees all looked like they were on fire in shimmering shades of gold and red. aaaa, so beautiful. Today's inspiration comes from the Danish home of Yvonne Koné photographed by Line T Klein and styled by Stine Langvad for Elle Decoration DK. It has been deliberately photographed to show a beautiful black and white starkness, however in real life form I like to believe it has some soft, cosy blankets and warm lighting and a slow-cooked stew bubbling away on the stove.

Looking at the immaculate nature of the home (and most homes shown on here) it begs the question - are people really as tidy as this?! I had a chat with some friends about this the other day and we all concluded that our biggest 'untidy habit' , shamefully, was dropping our clothes on the bedroom floor at the end of the day. I know I'm doing it because I think 'I really should hang this up....but!' Eeek! Do you have a messy habit you can't shake?!

Oh and..today is the last day to enter the Pappelina rug give-away. We'll be anncouncing the winner here and on Facebook & Twitter tomorrow at 16.00....there have been so many great entries I wish you could all win!

A light Danish home with a dreamy bedroom

There's a beautiful light here in South Sweden today (this was taken on my morning walk along the beach). In the distance I could see Denmark over the sound - and one of the roof tops could quite possibly have been this home (through a strong set of binoculars!!). Located just North of Copenhagen, the space has been designed in consultation with Natalia Sánchez Echervarria of Spatial Code and beautifully captured by one of my favourite interior photographers - Line Thit Klein. Such a lovely, light-filled space don't you think? And that bedroom *sigh*?!

Design: Natalia Sánchez Echevarria / Spatial Code. Photographer: Line Thit Klein. Shared with kind permission.
Lovely!

I'm extremely partial to an all white, uncluttered bedroom - so serene! In this instance I love the exposed beams painted in white, light wood floor and french balcony. On a day like to say the doors could be thrown open - what a lovely room to wake up to, don't you think?!

We've been seeing a few white spaces with earthy aubergine / mauve coloured curtains in Denmark lately (remember this beautiful bedroom?). It's a lovely way of bringing colour into an all white space, especially when matched with a throw.

I love the paint colours on the gallery wall (try Borrowed Light) and stairwell (try Lulworth blue) - so calming!

More lovely Danish homes to drool over today: an idyllic summer cottage,  a home with a warm soul and quirky touches and a Danish retreat.

Have a lovely day!

Home of a fashion designer in a converted bar

Moving slightly away from the Christmas theme today with the beautiful San Francisco home of Courtney Klein, owner of Storq, a company focusing on empowering pregnant women through fashion, and her husband Zach. Located in Mission District, the former bar was built on a fault line and has survived two earthquakes without damage since 1890. Despite this shaky start (couldn'r resist!),  Courtney and Zach have created a home full of character; I love the mid century touches, personal installations such as the pallet coat storage unit which Zach made and the splashes of red. And what a garden?!

Courtney KleinAnn Street Studio

Very cool don't you think? Who would ever guess their bedroom was previously used for storing beer?!
Thank you so much to Ann Street Studio for allowing me to publish these images. If you'd like to see more pictures and read more about Courtney and her wonderful home (including where many of the items are from) you can read the complete article here
Have a lovely day!

PS I had a question from one lovely reader asking about wonderful places to buy Scandinavian interior items in the US. Any tips?

My dream cottage would never be without......

Hi, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend?  Admittedly I spent some of Sunday thinking about how I could go about acquiring a Swedish cottage in the woods! I realised I've nailed two things about this future cottage and how I would renovate it. 1. it will be mostly white inside and 2. it will have a wood burning stove.  Here's my inspiration.

(If you fancy a little more Fireplace inspiration you can always check out my fireplace board on Pinterest).

Yesterday I was eyeing up this Skånegård house near Simrishamn - ooooo how I'd love to put my personal stamp on a home like this...and what about that stunning garden?! Or perhaps you'd prefer a Swedish cottage on it's own private island like this one? I definitely wouldn't say no!

PS On Saturday it was so great to finally meet Peggy of children's design and lifestyle blog Paul & Paula and her fabulous family (as you can imagine, they were wearing the coolest children's clothes, ever!), welcome to Sweden!

Have a lovely day!

Pretty Danish Christmas inspiration

Morning! I hope you had a great weekend? I'm on the early morning train, traveling through the countryside, the sun is sloooowly starting to rise but it's cold brrrrr. Where I really want to be is back in bed (or in this room with dark green walls - could this be the wall colour of 2016?). Failing that I'd love to be pottering around, putting the final touches on our Christmas tree (this is our home several Christmas's ago).  That's why I couldn't resist sharing a little more festive inspiration today, this time from Broste Copenhagen. The Danes really do know how to decorate for Christmas, don't they?

Broste AW15 Photography: Line Thit Klein. Styling Marie Gravnbøl

So pretty! I love the touches of eucalyptus and washed grey linen.

All of these items can be purchased through a Broste stockist. I also absolutely love this linen tableware.

More beautiful Danish homes at Christmas include this beautiful house in the snow and inside a rustic log cabin.

A few more Christmas links I love today:

This simple white star garland.

Christmas cards - the art of beautiful penmanship made easy. Oh yes we can!

Decorating with a personal touch using instagram / instax.

If you love the macrame wall hanging trend but would like something a little different from the white -  how about this one? Art in itself?!

10 of the best simple table decorations.

Fab Alternative Christmas trees

Pretty Scandinavian Christmas inspiration for the home.

Have a great start to the week!

PS This is not a sponsored post, I just love the images....
