Black and navy in an elegant Swedish home

My Scandinavian Home has been all about colour this past week - and the home tours have really put a smile on my face - I hope they have filled you with inspiration! But dark broody spaces in muted tones are beautiful in their own kind of way too not to mention super elegant - and in the autumn - like a wonderful cocoon. This Swedish home styled by Sasa Antic and beautifully captured by Kristofer Johnsson embraces one of the key colour combinations for A/W15 - black and navy.

Beautiful! Dramatic, yet calm -  quite a combination!

Is this your kind of style?

A guide on where a couple of items are from: vase, snoopy lamp, Flos suspension light.

Other incredible Swedish homes captured by Kristofer Johnsson include this Dalarna home of a calligrapher, the Stockholm home of a fashion stylist and the monochrome home of Annie Lindgren.  I also love all the inspiration in his 'Greyscale' tumblr - beautiful!

Don't miss stylist Sasa's own home here and lots more pictures of today's home tour here.

Have a lovely day!

PS I was overwhelmed at just how popular yesterday's post was - if you missed it, I can definitely recommend checking the home tour out here.

A Gothenburg home filled with treasures

You may remember the beautiful Artilleriet studio which I featured last week? Well, as part of interior store Artilleriet's 5 year anniversary, owners Christian and Björn have opened the doors of their Gothenburg home to Residence magazine. The delightful space has been doing the blog rounds over the last few days and I can totally understand why - it's simply stunning. The walls have been painted in earthy greys and greens and every surface is bursting with treasured finds and designer pieces. Large windows and free-standing mirrors flood the space with light creating a soft mood, which has been beautifully captured by photographer Kristofer Johnson. Let's take a tour...

So beautiful! It reminds me a lot of the works of Danish painter - Hammershoi.

Check out Artillieriet online store for many of the items you see in Christian and Björn's home.

Other stunning homes captured by Kristofer Johnsson include this Stockholm pad with fab windows and touches of navy,  a sophisticated Swedish home in dark shades and a stockholm space with a mix of vintage and designer pieces. Can you spot the signature style?

And some link loving from around the web:

Check out this magical treehouse with a hot tub and skateboard ramp - *dreaming*

A charming industrial kitchen.

Plant styling that's so now.

A shower curtain that brings greenery indoors (or if you're lucky - a bath with a view).

Have a great day!

A sophisticated Swedish home in dark shades

This lovely Swedish home captures the essence of 'dark broody' interiors perfectly. It's been artfully decorated in shades of dark grey and a spectrum of greens from olive to emerald. The result is a truly sophisticated and elegant space captured by one of my favourite Swedish photographers - Kristofer Johnsson. Let's take a look around....

So beautiful don't you think?

Get the look: tolix chairssheepskin rug, KÃ¥nken children's rucksack, dark grey linen bedding. I can just see one of my favourite lamps - the Flos Copycat peeping into the corner of the picture in the bedroom too! For similar paint colours try Farrow & Ball darks.

Jennfier Hagler's fab wishlist captures these tones perfectly!

I also love this dark grey, blue and green Swedish home, the dramatic stairwell in Marie Olsson Nylander's home, and an elegant black and navy home also captured by Kristofer.

It's enough to make me want to dabble in a few dark walls and pieces! - do you have any in your home?

Other links I love today include:

My eldest daughter is moving into her own bedroom and we're having loads of fun picking out a moodboard. This colour scheme is spot on! So pretty don't you think?

Love the idea of bringing rainy days indoors.

Colour block navy with crisp white in the bedroom.

Take me away to this pretty red cabin in the snow.

Have a lovely day!

Carolina's Serene Stockholm Apartment in Creams and Browns

A while ago Swedish photographer Kristofer Johnsson and stylist Pella Hedeby paid a visit to this beautiful 19th century apartment in Sturegatan, Stockholm. The home belonged to Mattias and Carolina Storm. The couple have since moved (a little birdie tells this was their third apartment in four years!).

Perhaps this information makes me even more intrigued, since the space looks so nicely 'complete' - which is impressive in a short amount of time. I mean, we've lived in our home for 16 years, and I'm still trying to figure out what to put on some of the walls. Are you the same?

Not only that, but it's beautiful too, with every room in perfect harmony. The colour scheme is similar to Leanne's cottage which I showed on Wednesday - but the look is very different in terms of architecture ad furniture. Here, we witness round organic shapes juxtaposed with triangular forms, fluffy rugs layered with texture and furniture from different eras. Art and mirrors also play an important role - with their 'barely there feel', yet at the same time adding interest at every turn.

I hope you enjoy the tour!

Such a serene space!

I hope I can feature their latest home soon since that is filled with the same timeless pieces but curated in an entirely different way!

Did anything stand out to you?

And I'm curious to know - is the decor in your home 'finished' or very much a work in progress like mine?

Since it's Friday, I couldn't resist sharing a few other homes with you - some of which have the same neutral scheme but with a pop of colour, all of them beautiful!

Have a fabulous weekend friends!

A beautiful Swedish home and creative studio.

I do love the home of an artist don't you? Their natural creativity nearly always shines through. Take this home and studio for example. It belongs to a friend of Swedish stylist and blogger Pella Hedeby (who is responsible for the styling on this shoot). According to Pella the home is even more beautiful, relaxed and comfortable in real life and constantly evolves with the seasons. What a lovely space don't you think?!

I love the vibe of this home, how about you?

To get the look pick-up some lovely linen cushions, search for easels, tables and vintage desk and ceiling lamps on Etsy, and source antique cutlery here.

If you have some time to kill over a coffee this weekend- there's home-tour after home-tour of Swedish country-style homes to be found here. And other fabulous homes photographed by Kristofer Johnsson here.

Before I head off to enjoy the weekend I also wanted to let you know that The Linen Works have just launched a new line of ultra soft Bamboo Linen bedding and to celebrate they're holding a give-away to win a set here, there are even 20 Japanese linen slippers up for grabs for the runners-up so it's well worth taking a few seconds to enter!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and see you Monday!

The monochrome space of Annie Lindgren

Morning! It's soooo grey here in Southern Sweden, it's going to be one of those days when the lights need to be on all day. Is it the same where you are? Rather than fight it, I thought I'd embrace it. So here's the oh so beautiful Swedish apartment belonging to blogger and shop owner, Annie Lindgren of All is Pretty,  recently featured in Plaza magazine. Void of colour.  The space is the epitome of today's Swedish decor trend (in my mind anyway): graphical, monochrome and teeming with the latest wall covering must have: fashion photography. Who needs bright sunshine and colour anyway?!

Home: Annie Lindgren, Styling: Pella Hedeby. Photographer: Kristofer Johnsson (with kind permission).

What a great space?! Anything you love about it in particular?

I've been having a look around the web to find the best black and white fashion photography prints and found this and this site, Can you suggest any others?

Items I know and love from Annie's home: Cross blanket, Knoll Diamond chair and Tulip dining table. Similar prints to the Andy Warhol quote (by the bed) available on etsy. AJ Table lamp. Linen bedding. Some of the items you see can also be found in Annie's shop

Keen to see more? How about this creative studio and this and this home also shot by  Kristofer Johnsson

Have a lovely day!

A truly incredible Swedish country home in monochrome

I fell in love with this home when I showed it decked out for Christmas in 2013. And now it's been beautifully captured by Kristofer Johnsson for Residence magazine. Ladies and gentlemen, it's the stunning home of Swedish calligrapher Ylva Skarp. Her home reflects her love for monochrome and is teeming with unique vintage finds and quirky touches. If you look closely you can also see hints of her artwork. What a truly incredible home, don't you think?

Homeowner: Ylva Skarp, Photography: Kristofer Johnsson, Stylist: Residence.
Besides Ylva's fab artwork, what I really love about this space is the incredible mixture of textures (wood, concrete, paper, metals) which gives the home a part cabin, part country, part warehouse vibe.

And did you notice the industrial warehouse cart used as a day bed - what an ingenious idea?!

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Other incredible black and white country homes incude this and this one, and don't miss this fab apartment in Malmö.

Have a great day!

A Striking Swedish Home With A Wall of Books!

Why, hello there! I hope you had a great weekend?! I'm hoping this home might brighten up the start of your week (it certainly has mine!). This incredible apartment in Stockholm belongs to Anna Tuernell, Head of Design at Arket. It's a home of contrast - where light wood floors and fresh white walls juxtapose with dark grey, black and wood furniture. But perhaps my favourite thing of all are the floor to ceiling shelves brimming with books - if you're a book lover, you'll no doubt fall in love with it too! Anna invited Lotta Agaton and Kristofer Johnsson in to capture it for Residence magazine. Enjoy the tour!

The bumling pendant (call me immature but I can't help smile at the name, how about you?!) in brass definitely takes centre stage in the kitchen. There are always second-hand ones available here.

The sitting room reads like a 'who's who' of fabulous design classics - with the most unbelievably comfortable Eames lounge chair and ottoman beside a Bollo Lounge chair.

Book lovers rejoice! I've said it already in the introduction, but just how wonderful are these floor to ceiling shelves bursting with books?! The Elfa bookshelf system is perfect for creating this effect.

The tea trolley - possibly my favourite piece by Artek (and the black version too, love it!) looks great next to the Panthella Floor lamp.

A Swedish Kakelugn in the corner of the bedroom adds a decorative touch (and if in working condition - a lot of warmth!) to the bedroom. An Eames rocker can be seen just in front (ready to act as the perfect chairdrobe?).

What a fabulous space?! The architect is simply stunning too. Imagine having ceilings as high as this?!

Thank you so much to Lotta for the kind permission to share these lovely photos from her portfolio  - and to Coco Lapine - through whom I discovered this space!

You can see more of Lottas lovely work here

Have a happy start to the week all!
