A laid-back, boho cool Californian home

After three days of Scandinavian monochrome (here, here and here!) I promised an entirely different look today - and here it is! A laid-back, boho-cool Californian home designed by Amber Lewis for fashion trend forecaster Susan Anderson and Timmy, a music producer. The goal was to keep the Californian aesthetic but add a little 'rock 'n' roll' to this magnificent home (will you look at that A-frame ceiling and those windows). I'm loving the black, white and leather theme with flashes of bold colours and lovely vintage kilim rugs and cushions. Fresh yet relaxed with an edge.

Interior designer: Amber Interiors. Photography: Tessa Neustadt

I want to swap homes - do you think these guys would like to take a sabbatical in Southern Sweden?! Sweden's the world's third biggest exporter of music after all, so it's not impossible - (did you know that all these hits were penned by Swedes?).

What do you think, could you live here?!

Source beautiful kilim rugs here and cushions / pillows here.  IKEA's black and white Stockholm rug is similar. Source mid-century furniture here or online at ebay.

I love a great before and after, don't you?! Take a look at the before pictures of this home here.

Fab spaces with a similar style include this boho space in Florida and a relaxed family home.

Have a lovely day!

A Swedish home with a relaxed, boho vibe

We often see homes packed with designer pieces, and although beautiful, they're not always achievable.  I therefore love homes designed on a shoestring budget using creativity, patience (to find the right items as they come up) and a sense of fun. The truly personal family home of ceramicist, designer and stylist Frida Anthin Broberg, Sebastien Broberg and their children Jack (6) and Bill (5) situated in Rönne, Sweden is a perfect example of this. Frida and Sebastien believe 'an interior should be fueled by desire rather than aesthetics' and their space pays homage to this. Teeming with vintage finds and bold splashes of colour, this lovely relaxed, boho living space is perfect inspiration for decorating without a big budget, don't you think?

What do you think? Could you live here?

Other fab homes with a similar vibe include Part I and Part II of Johanna Gartmyr's cool home (the castle in the little girl's room is my most pinned image ever!), an eclectic Norwegian home, and this fab home packed with vintage pieces. And for the boho look check out these homes.

PS Etsy is a great source for retro items. My little girls also have the Swedish classic Kånken mini rucksack, shown here on the back of the chairs - so cute!

Have a lovely day!

A beautiful boho cottage (to rent!) in Byron Bay

Stop the press! I was planning on posting a completely different home tour today. And then this space happened. Everything had to be re-written (even though I've got a flight to catch!). Photographer and stylist extraordinaire Louise Roche recently captured Haveli cottage for Airbnb owner, Heidi (yes, it is available to rent...!). Described as an 'Indonesian & Indian inspired luxe cottage', the boho property is located in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia and is decorated throughout using items from Heidi's iconic shop. As if we needed another excuse to travel Down Under?!

Photographer and stylist: Louise Roche / The Design Villa

Could you imagine spending your holiday here?

Louise also used the cottage as the most beautiful backdrop ever for three of her clients: The Boho Bungalow, Rock Ribbins Eco Gifts and Shima Lifestyle (some of the items of which can also be seen in these pics). She is organising a new collaboration shoot from Port Douglas soon, if you're selling homeware, fashion or jewellery and would like to participate pop her a mail here.

Similar items (I love): jute rug, Indonesian straw bag, Batik cushions.

Other absolutely stunning homes in Australia (in case you missed them) include a light and airy cottagethe retro beach house and a pared-back home in neutrals. And of course, if you don't already - I highly recommend following Australian design blogs Dust Jacket and The Design Files (please feel free to add your blog tips in the comment section below!).

Right. I'd better get packing for my trip to London this afternoon. Go, go go!

Have a lovely day!

7 Boho Ideas for Outdoor Spaces (Big and Small)!

Yesterday's Varlborg's celebrations here in Sweden marked the first official day of Spring (you'd never guess - BRRRR!). But there's no way I'm going to let a little rain get in the way of a beautifully relaxed outdoor space, how about you?! Here are my pick of 7 bohemian style outdoor spaces  - each offering some pretty ideas on how to create your own slice of paradise, no matter how small your space and what the weather gods decide to do!

Photography Molly Culver for Camille Styles (don't miss the full studio tour!)

This neutral covered terrace has been kept beautifully simple. To achieve a similar look, paint the wood decking white (using materials suitable for the outdoors) and keep to simple light wicker chairs (the hanging rattan bench* is divine!), lanterns and matting. Large tropical plants such as Bamboo, Bird of Paradise, Hardy Banana and Needle Palm will withstand colder climes and will bring a little touch of Paradise to your outdoor space (even on the gloomiest of days)!

How's this for a reading corner?! All you need it a hammock, printed fabric a few Cactus and a good book!

Photo - Lucy in the sky / Domino

Swap a hammock for a simple canvas daybed - add a few lanterns and candles and you might just want to stay out all night!

Sofa's, linen cushions, a patchwork rug and dappled sunlight are enough to create a simple boho look with a hint of luxe.

Photography: Emily Katz / The Butcher's Daughter (love this entire Insta feed!)
Who needs balmy evenings when you can create your own? A roaring fire (love the tiles!) adds just the right amount of warmth to a small, narrow backyard. Don't forget to add a simple canopy for an extra cosy feel!

Photography: Lynden Foss, Styling by Tahnee Carroll for Spell & The Gypsy (fabulous shop!)

I'm imagining afternoon tea and a large fruit platter (OK who am I kidding... biscuits, cakes...!) under this awning. How idyllic?!

Photography by Sjoerd Eickmans
And finally, a dreamy outdoor dining space, sheltered from the mid-day sun. The look is au natural all the way and long benches mean there's always room for more!

Aaaa, I feel relaxed just looking at these spaces, how about you? Although they all look like they are in warmer climes (bah!), don't be put off! Just add wicker chairs and rugs specifically designed for the great outdoors (I have my eye on the Pottery Barn Solange rug below), candlelight and plenty of textiles. Oh and perhaps an awning to keep the rain at bay!

The wonderful, relaxed boho home of Carley Summers

Do you follow interior stylist / photographer Carley Summers on Instagram? If not, you must! Carley posts snaps from her latest photoshoots and of her home which she shares with her husband Jonathan in North Carolina. The beautiful space is full of items they've collected over the years including pieces from all over the world and vintage finds. Layers of lush textures and warm tones add a wonderful, cosy feel and her relaxed, boho style shines through everything she turns her hand to. Let's take a peek inside their home....

Photography: Carley Summers: @carlaypage / Carleypageinteriors.com

I love this space!  The layered rugs, the blankets, the throws, the patterns and colours. Everything!

Get the look: source a similar Moroccan blanket here and a selection of Moroccan rugs, cushions and poufs here (you can also check out Anthropologie for lovely blankets and throws. Source a vintage rattan chair here (I loooove this mid-century one - only one available, hurry!).

Loking at Carley's home really makes me feel a trip to Morocco is in order  (how long have I been saying that?).  If I go I'd like to stay in this riad in Marrakech- recommended by Carley! Doesn't it look beautiful?!

Have you ever been?

Love this style? You'll also love this relaxed family home in Florida, a beautiful boho cottage to rent in Byron Bay, a unique farmhouse in Holland.

The relaxed, boho home of Paloma Lanna

Tjohooo!  I do love a boho vibe don't you? This lovely Spanish home belongs to Paloma Lanna - the founder of Paloma Wool. It's fair to say the entire space has the most beautiful bones (those tiles, that ceiling height, the period features... everything!). And then Paloma has gone and filled it with the most wonderful blend of vintage and flea market finds - resulting in a relaxed, eclectic home that's truly personal. Enjoy!

Photography: César Segarra / @cesarsgr shared with kind permission. Found via Blissful Blog

What an incredible space - could you imagine living somewhere like this?

Get the look: Söderhamn sofa covered with stonewashed linen. Macrame plant hanger, source vintage mid-century side-tables here.

Definitely take a mo to check-out out Paloma's work and store here!

I also love this bohemian home in Marseille, the relaxed home of a florist and boho family home in Florida.

Have a lovely day!
