Charming and Relaxed Boobialla Bungalow, Tasmania

This weekend I felt like spring was in the air in Malmö - even going as far as mentioning this in my instagram stories. What a mistake. We woke up this morning to a world blanketed in snow, yes friends, 'second winter' has arrived! I hope you'll forgive me for transporting us far south to a warmer climate on the blog today. 

There are several places on this earth that I have never been to, bit can imagine have a similar vibe to Sweden (although I could of course be wrong!). One day I'd love to visit Maine in the US, for example. But I am also drawn to Tasmania - there is something about the rugged, wild coastline and relaxed cabins I so often discover online. 

I've featured many holiday homes from the island in the past, and today stumbled across Boobialla Bungalow on the South Arm peninsula. A once forgotten 1930s shack, this charming and relaxed coastal hideout is a couple of minutes walk from the beach, and looks like a chilled base from which to explore the bay and beyond.

The majority of the furniture is vintage, adding to the chilled, un-polished vibe of the place. 

The mid blue helps to create a cosy atmosphere in the sitting room, and echoes the coastal location. 

A wood burning stove helps to heat the space in winter. 

The blue theme is continued in the bedroom. 

There's something about retro pink baths - my grandmother used to have one and this picture transported me straight back to my childhood! I love the combination with the dark green. 

Rather than grand outdoor seating around a fire, sometimes all you need is a few tree stumps! Speaking of which, are you ready for some outdoor inspiration soon? Even if there's snow on the ground right now here, I'm feeling confident spring is just around the corner (again!).

A Charming Swedish Family Home in the South of France

Tjena! It's long been known that Swedes love their summer cottages - usually somewhere rural and near water for morning dips. But when you can enjoy a summer cottage lifestyle year-round like Kristin Lagerqvist does at her home in Varberg, West Sweden - a holiday home needs to offer something different. And Kristin and her family, found their paradise in Languedoc-Roussillon, Southeast France. True to Kristin's signature style, the home is decorated with local vintage and flea market finds and earthy tones which look beautiful beside the original French floor tiles and architecture of the old town house. On warmer days, life moves up to a rooftop terrace with a dining area and daybed. Bienvenue!

How lovely!! 

And what a wonderful change of scene! They must feel like they've really landed when they arrive. And I bet there's no end to the enjoyment Kristin gets from those French antique markets and curiosity stores. magnifique! 

Her house is charming too, pared back, relaxed, full of charm!

A Warm Apartment in Berlin with Mid-century Touches

It's Friday, the sun is shining in Malmö (for what feels like first time in months!) and we're pedalling a little extra fast as we move into the weekend. Woohooo! I hope you've got some relaxing / fun plans! Before we all hit the pause button, here's one final home tour for the week. 

Eagle eye readers might recognise the living space, as I featured Tim Labenda's home a few years ago as part of a feature about my friend Igor Josif's book Plant Tribe. So much has changed in terms of the furniture arrangement and style that I felt a new tour was definitely in order. Captured by Laura and Nora (of Our Food Stories fame), Tim and his boyfriend Hannes Kraus' Berlin home is full of contrast, mid-century furniture, danish design (including my favourite Hans J. Wegner Flag Halyard Chair) plants and quirky touches (look out for the fabulous art behind the bed - more details at the bottom!). Buckle up friends, you're in for a treat! 

I have to say, I especially love the main living room with a dining area, work space and sitting room combined. It looks so warm and inviting! 

We've been seeing dark wood in the kitchen a lot lately, and I'm a big fan. Do you like them too? 

And of course, there's the art behind the bed. It took me a while to figure out what it was - a mural? A rug?  A painting? Nope, actually it's a strip of Heron wallpaper by Gucci. Smart idea! The side lamps (I couldn't resist finding out more about those too!) are Satellite pendants by Gubi.

Friederike's Warm and Inviting Home with Historic Charm

Ready for a feel-good home this Friday? Friederike's German apartment is the type of place you would want to pull up a chair and stay for a while! The building itself is seriously charming with it's magnificent exposed wood beams, high ceilings and large windows and Friederike has furnished it with a feel-good factor to match! Think a blend of antique and vintage finds, sofas you'd like to sink into, a wood burning stove - and one very happy dog! Keep an eye out for modern touches too, like glass partitions, which ensure a the natural flow of light. Ready to take a look? Welcome to Friederike's cosy world! 

So lovely! I wish we could have seen more of the kitchen and bedroom. But from the glimpses we do get, the rooms look just as cosy and packed with charm as the rest of the apartment.
