Boho - Norwegian style

Hello! How was the weekend?! Our house was hit by the dreaded MAN FLU so it was just me and my little girls. We still managed to have a cosy couple of days with a lovely walk along a beach thrown in. How about you? Last week I spotted a beautiful dining space and I thought WOW (you know how I love sheepskin draped over chairs!), so I did a bit of digging and contacted Line Kay of Norwegian shop Vintagepiken who gave me kind permission to show more of her incredibly inspirational instagram interior shots....

Line Kay of Vintagepiken with kind permission. With thanks also to Stil Inspiration

So beautiful don't you think? I'm going to call it bo-ho-with-a-romantic-Norwegian-touch! If it's your kind of style, you can see more inspirational pics on Line's beautiful blog here

Get the look? I found long-haired sheepskin rugs over at La Maison D'Anna G's shop :) hooray! I'll be adding one to my birthday wishlist! I have a similar chinese workman's stool which I bought at Lovely & Company. Get an Eames DSR chair at Design Collectors (15% off with code MYSCAN). Oh so lovely!

PS Get well soon man :)

Perfect dining settings alfresco and indoors

It's Friiiiday - woohoo! Whether you're having a casual weekend at home or a get together with friends and family, here are three very different table settings, all lovely in their own way. I'll be taking inspiration from all the pretty scented jasmine and vines and the strings of light bulbs. Beautiful!

Imagine a party under the boughs of that tree by the beach?!

When it comes to the great outdoors and eating I have a very particular taste - as you can see from my alfresco board on Pinterest! However, if you're into the more contemporary style you'll love this outdoor lounge by Studiopepe and for cool roof top living check out this post (loving the apple green table).

If you're looking for outdoor furniture Nest have the most amazing collection of contemporary pieces. Or for garden furniture on a shoe string, the fab Roxö chairs in grey (as shown in the last three pics) from IKEA are a perfect choice.

For some fantastic inspiration on how to bring green indoors check out the home of florist Sarah Nolan. Or for simplicity, how about floating plants in glass, so beautiful!

It's going to be SUNNY here in Southern Sweden all weekend so I'll definitely be working on my (tiny) garden and sipping mint tea a chilled glass of Sancerre while my girls mix mud and water to make cakes :) How about you?

Have a wonderful weekend!

Eating alfresco

It's impossible not to enjoy eating outdoors. Whether it's the secluded picnic for two or a party with friends on a colourful mix match of chairs, leaning precariously on the unlevelled grass (see the beautiful cottage interior here).....I'm sure I'd be smiling throughout any of these lunches. The wine glasses might have something to do with it too....can I join?

What's your favourite way to eat outdoors?

PS As you know I'm currently on  beautiful Mallorca for a week visiting family. Last night we broke away from the tapas and ate fish and chips on the beach with a glass of cava. It was lovely sitting watching the sunset over the bobbing yachts in the distance while the girls played in the sand.

A dining space with a personal touch

It's Friday yay! In case you're having friends over for supper this weekend I thought some dining room inspiration could be perfect (thoughtful, no?!). And who better to take inspiration from than Victoria from SF Girl By Bay with her fab sense of style (see her previous home here).

SF Girl By Bay with kind permission

I love that Victoria's dining space is so personal. From the antique dining table, Tulip dining chairs and the vintage Eames rocker in the corner, to the collection of photographs, candle holders, and prints. What a lovely space to spend an evening with friends.

What does your ideal dining room look like?

This week I was interviewed by The People Stories about my work space, the article is up and running here. They have such a beautiful website, I'll definitely be keeping my eye on it in the future.

I've had such a busy week I'm looking forward to some serious down time this weeked! Maybe a little ice-skating, some baking (I've promised to make Bear pops with my  girls) and lots of R&R! What about you?

PS Just wanted to say how much I love all your comments, they are so interesting and add so much to every post. Thank you!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Kook; new on my wish list!

One of my London friends is designing a bar which I'm sure will be fabulous once it's finished! This has got me really itnerested in bar and restaurant interiors. There are so many things to think about, from practicalities and ambience to location, economy, comfort and asthetics. Kook in Lazio, italy was designed byMohamed Keilani and Luca Gasparini from Noses Architects in 2012 and looks really wonderful. I can already see myself sitting on one of the leather chesterfields sipping on a cocktail waiting to be seated!

Via Love is Speed
What do you think (have you been here?!) Any aspect you particularly like? I'm all over the tiled floor and concrete surfaces.

Do you have a restaurant in your city you would recommend? Here in Malmö I'd firmly recommend Bastard (book a month in advance) and in Copenhagen I've been longing to go to Noma.

All this talk of restaurants is making me hungry.....:)

My dining room: touch of spring

I hope you all had a lovely weekend? My family and I headed off to a lake here in Southern Sweden called Krankesjön to enjoy some ice-skating and a barbicue on the frozen lake.  The sun was shining and the snow sparkled like diamonds. The only disconcerting noise was the eerie creaking of the ice!

Speaking of sparkling, I also got down to a little spring cleaning. All Christmas decorations are out and the first signs of spring have arrived in my dining area and it feels wonderful!

Photography: My Scandinavian Home

PS Incidentally I asked a friend from Stockholm about the sound of creaking ice and he said that it can be a sign of 'good ice' but you need to be a pro to know the difference. I certainly wasn't going to wait around to find out!

How was your weekend?

My home: art in the bathroom

A quick hello from London! Since I am rushing around, I thought I'd share a couple of pictures from my home I took last week. Here are two snap shots from my bathroom. I've always loved art in the bathroom there's something so decedant about it. As bathroom's get a bit steamy I didn't want to ruin one of my favourite original prints so I took a photocopy of the original and hung it in a frame. Conniving or clever? I like to think the latter!

In case you're wondering, the shower curtain is Marimekko and the little bird mirror is from Graham and Green. What do you think about art in the bathroom - do or don't?

I know I've just shown my dining room, but I love this picture as my little four year chose the pink roses at the local flower market in Malmö and they made me smile all week.

Note: The cushions in the nook are Designers Guild.

Are you more fresh flowers or autumn leaves at this time of the year?

Have a lovely evening!

Table for three

Hello Monday! Table for three anyone?! I mean, what a perfect set-up; the fab Eero Saarinen Tulip table, the mis-matched vintage dining chairs, IKEA's little black children's high chair (I think, although they don't seem to stock it anymore unfortunately), the white washed black board paint wall and the soft touch with the pretty pink flowers.  What a lovely space?! Note to self, must by flowers on my way home....or send man a small hint....

Covet Garden
A little erm, off the weather today as recovering from a friend's wedding in the beautiful fishing village of Öregrund, near Uppsala at the weekend. It was such a romantic day! I promise to be back tomorrow with lots of inspiration and a beautiful house tour (and a clear head hopefully!).

Raw wood dining

Happy Monday! No room in the house is more important at Christmas than the kitchen. A family friend calls the kitchen 'The Engine' room! Here's a little inspiration from beautiful spaces with raw wood and beautiful lamps to get your home ready for evenings in with friends and family!

Any favourites? So hard to choose.
Back in a little with a Christmas DIY project to brighten up this oh so slightly dreary Monday!
