A cosy, yet elegant home in Krakow

While yesterday's home was beautiful in all it's muted, monochrome glory, the deep, rich blues and emerald greens in this home in Krakow, Poland pose a more intimate, elegant feel. Designed by Odwzorowanie (which incidentally, is also a great source for the most fabulous vintage items  - just saying) - the apartment features original parquet flooring and shiny new patterned tiles which set the scene for an array of wonderful items - including art, books, textiles and lighting which combine to create a lovely, relaxed feel. What a fabulous space?!

Could you imagine living here?

I love so many things about the space but my eye's particularly drawn to the cosy living room and the wallpaper in the hallway (I'd love to know where it's from - give me a shout if you know!)  - how about you?

Here's a quick guide on how to achieve this look: sitting room -source a similar kilim cushion / pillow here, banana fiber ALSEDA pouf, seagrass belly basket, I love this hanging chair. Kitchen / dining room - Eames chairs. Bedroom - sinnerlig pendant light, Globe Mobile.

I was thinking that this Polish home is an all time first here on My Scandinavian Home - but a quick check in the archives and I found this beautiful white home of a designer  - also located just across the Baltic sea!

Have a lovely day!

A beautiful country home in Värmland, Sweden

Well hello there! It's been a while? I hope you're great? I'm feeling all happy and relaxed after two weeks in the USA - which included a NYC and a wonderful tour of Long Island (two things:  If you go to NYC take some time out to visit Montauk (fellow fans of 'The Affair' - the Lobster Roll exists!) - but above all else, visit the North Fork for farm shops, antiques, rosé tasting at Croteaux Vineyards and the best slow coffee ever at North Fork Roasting Co). As the Swedish proverb goes 'borta bra, men hemma bäst' (away is good, but home is best!) and it's great to be back in South Sweden too.  I was especially excited to stumble across the wonderful instagram feed of Therese Johansen via Trendenser blog this morning (thank you for the tip Frida!) and couldn't resist sharing a few of the lovely pictures of her home in Värmland, Sweden. Think modern-country style with a muted colour palette and lots of interesting details (how fab are the old windows?). Enjoy....

Oj oj oj - what a beautiful home?!

I particularly love all the displays, plants, and linens. Is there anything that stands out to you?

A few items I know and love from Therese's home: sitting room - the sofa looks like it's been draped with white linen  - or try Bemz for linen covers designed to fit IKEA sofas. Source a black and white Moroccan blanket with pom poms here. The Z1 lamp by Ay Illuminate is similar. Vases by Ernst. The Poster Club sells many of the prints seen on the gallery wall. Second living area - this round mirror is similar, Octopus candleholder, The Kinfolk Home and The Kinfolk Table books. Kitchen - Menu chairs. Bedroom - dark grey linen duvet colour and pillow case.

You can see more of Therese's home and follow her latest projects over on Instagram here

Have a great start to the week!

PS the down side of going to far away places? Waking up at 2am and not being able to get back to sleep. Siesta time!!

A cosy modern bohemian home

Tjoohoo! It's a hive of activity at home today as we're getting ready for a little summer break - eeeeee! I find it hard to feel super excited until I'm actually on route these days (there's so much to do!). Do you find that?!  I'll be taking a couple of weeks blogging break (shock horror! - that sounds like ages and I'm going to miss you guys, but I've been working like crazy with photo shoots and finishing my third book (exciting!) so I'm in need of a little R&R, plus I think my family have forgotten who I am!). But before I head off, I thought I'd leave with you the most inspiring home - with LOTS of ideas around every corner! This lovely space belongs to Megan Schlachtenhaufen, purveyor of fab, custom made wall hangings (hop on over to Instagram to check them out). Megan shares her home in Wisconsen, with her husband and two daughters and has furnished it with an eclectic mix of furniture, layers of texture, lovely art and punches of colour resulting in a relaxed modern bohemian style. Let's take a peek....

Photography: 13 and 14 by Clettis Wright. The rest by Megan Schlachtenhaufen.

Oh how I love this home. It makes me want to go out and hunt for paintings for my wall, rummage around flea markets for secondhand finds, invest in some kilim cushions and Moroccan blankets and generally max out on cosiness  - how about you?!

Get the look from Megan's home: bertoia side chair, source beautiful kilim cushions here, pick up a blanket with pom poms / tassels here, leather pouf / ottoman, mantis ceiling light, this is a great shop for rugs. Baskets, Atollo gold table lamp. Pick up custom-made wall hangings by Megan here. The large wall hanging in the living room is by The Dharma Door.

You can also see more pictures of this home and an interview with Megan over at The Glitter Guide

If you need a little escape on your morning coffee break, here are some of my all time favourite archives for you to check-out while I'm away (although you might need to set-aside an entire morning or two!):

A round-up of Swedish homes
Inspiring Danish homes
My pick of Norwegian homes
Who doesn't love a Finnish home?!
Relaxed and laidback summer cottages
International Home tours
Beautiful, relaxed bohemian style homes.

Or if you'd like to go offline - there's always my book The Scandinavian Home: Interiors inspired by light too! Best enjoyed with a coffee....or espresso martini (depending on the time of day!). I hope you enjoy it!

Have a lovely couple of weeks!

PS Catch you on Instagram in the meantime...

My sitting room update

Sponsored post:
Decorating my home is like painting the Forth bridge - no sooner have I finished one room and I'm dreaming about renovating another! Do you feel like that too? The one area in our home which has been most neglected seems to be the sitting room - I've never really had enough shelf space. And the answer came in a mail from Tylko. For those of you not familiar with Tylko - you're in a for a wonderful surprise. Tylko makes functional furniture that's customisable to the space you have down to the last centimetre. I also absolutely love that once your design is ready you can use the app to see how it'll look in your home (and then tweak some more if required!) and that they're made from slow-growth wood from Finland's birch forests making them incredibly long-lasting.  Oh and they're delivered right to your door and slot together without screws. Seriously, what's not to love? Here's a peek at mine...

Photography / Styling: Niki Brantmark - My Scandinavian Home.

Finally a home for all our bits and bobs (and this is just the start - I'm pretty sure in two weeks time it will be crammed with things, and I'll be back on the Tylko website creating myself another unit!).  FYI I went for the 'Sideboards' in white - but it's also available in a very smart black!

What do you reckon, something for your home?!

This post is brought to you in collaboration with Tylko. However, all words are my own and I only ever work with brands I absolutely love and think you will too! Thank you for supporting the businesses that help bring fresh content to your mail box and make My Scandinavian Home possible.
