An elegant and calm Stockholm apartment

In need of a sanctuary? A calm and collected oasis in which to switch off from the world, if only for a few minutes?! If so, why not pour yourself a freshly brewed coffee and follow me, I've got a  beautiful apartment in Vasastan, Stockholm to show you! Think spacious, airy rooms, the flow of light through double doors, the parquet flooring underfoot and above all else a cosy sitting room in which to curl up and reflect under the warm glow of firelight. I think I might just stay here all week, how about you?!

What a calm, elegant space, don't you think?!

Actually, you can make this dreamy space a reality as it's for sale right now through Alexander White. Guh, imagine?!

A couple of items I know and love: kitchen - linen cushionssitting room - sinnerlig lamp, this grey marble and brass coffee table is similar, Iittala Nappula candleholders, (lovely) dark grey throw.

A few more beautiful, calm spaces to visit today: the Zen home of a LA fashion designer and boutique owner, a calm swedish space in neutrals, or for something truly cosy and away from it all: this rustic Norwegian cabin!

I'm in the final stages of writing my second book so there's so much to do around here right now - go go go! But I'm so looking forward to starting my 'link love' again next week. In the meantime, I've got a great reader offer coming your way this evening and a wonderful, toasty home tour lined up for you tomorrow.....Oooo the suspense!

Have a lovely day!

A serene Swedish home in soft, muted tones

We had our first flurry of snow here in southern Sweden yesterday. By early evening our house was all candlelit and my little girls cheeks were rosy from the cold wind outside. I do miss a lovely  roaring fire though - or perhaps a beautiful 'kakelugn' (tiled oven) like the one in this wonderful apartment in Gothenburg. Infact, the entire space is just lovely...the light wood floors, the soft grey and blue tones, the simple furnishings (those sheepskin slippers have my name on them!). I love how they've made a small bedroom cosy yet highly functional too. Let's take a peek inside....

So serene! I could definitely take homage here while the snow falls silently outside, how about you?!

A few items I know and love: kitchen / dining: House Doctor cluster light, bentwood chairs. Sitting room: gotland sheepskin throw, these sheepskin slippers are similar (toasty!), source a rattan chair here, I love this leather tote. Bedroom: wooden clothes rail.

Looking for a little more Swedish home inspiration today? There are over 340 Swedish homes in my archive - can you believe that? I'd say time extremely well spent, wouldn't you?! If this home comes up first just scroll past it.

Or, if warm weather and sunshine is more your thing, you might prefer to dream of a holiday at Villa Pia in Lippiano  Italy. Located between Tuscany and Umbria, Villa Pia is set in 5 acres of land and has vistas over olive groves, vineyards and a magnificent 10th century castle (how wonderful?!). It seems there's plenty to do too, with two swimming pools, a trampoline and an adventure playground - as well as cookery and art classes for children and adults. I'm already dreaming of afternoons on the terrace with a glass of prosecco and a book. How about you?!

Snow? What snow?!

Have a lovely day!

'The White Room' - a studio with beautiful one-off vintage pieces

They say that part of the enjoyment of holidays is in the planning. To some extent that's true - but I have to say I've been known to spend hours searching for accommodation that's just right (do you?!). But when you strike upon that perfect place, a real home from home, the anticipation is wonderful! And that's exactly why I was so excited to discover this gem in North Fitzroy, Melbourne (a friend of mine told me I was pronouncing the name all wrong and it should be 'Melben not 'Melboooooourne'!). Anyhooo, The White Room is a simply stunning studio, which as the name suggests, is indeed white and interior designer Lynda Gardner's signature style shines through with a divine mixed of one-off vintage pieces, industrial lighting and layers of pure french linen and handmade sheets. Let's take a tour of this wonderful sanctuary, beautifully captured by Lisa Cohen...

The funny thing is, as much as I'd love to have a trip to Australia planned, I don't! But the key thing is, when I do, the hours of accommodation searching is out of the way - I just need to decide whether to stay here or at one of Lynda's other places I've featured - The Apartment in St Kilda or The Estate Trentham.

Hmmmmm. Tricky!

Could you imagine staying in this lovely studio?

Get the look from The White Room: kitchen - industrial style trolley / cart, glass fronted cabinet, knitted pouf (absolutely love this!), jute rug. Source vintage industrial lighting here. Bedroom: beautiful charcoal grey duvet cover and pillow case and white linen summer blanket, this leather club chair is similar.

Have a wonderful start to the week!

Have yourself a very Scandi Christmas

Yes... I just mentioned the C word and it's only early November, eeeeeek! I love this time of year and come December my home will be festooned with pretty decorations and cosy touches. And this week I made an exciting discovery in the form of NOORVERK. For those of you not familiar with the Danish online store, NOORVERK is a global marketplace dedicated to handmade items by Nordic designers, artists, craftsmen and DIY creatives (sounds almost too good to be true). As you can guess, all the items are unique, high quality, sustainable and of course beautifully simple. I've got my eye on these Christmas tree decorations by Tine Schjelde Møberg and Janne Rosendal...

So lovely, don't you think?

You can find all these items under the NOORVERK Christmas page, or in order of appearance: a selection by Janne Rosendalpaper stars earth collection, leather stag nature, leather reindeer black, xmas bell naturewooden xmas ball, leather snowflake blackxmas balls laser cut veneer.

If you love these you'll also like all the other items on the site - I've got my eye on some of the bags & purses and home & living section. This could be dangerous!

Anything catch your eye?

Enjoy!

This post is in collaboration with NOORVERK. All words are my own and I only work with brands I love and think you will too.

The happy home of artist Kate Schelter

It's Friiiiiiday - wooohooooo! Definitely calls for a celebration - don't you think?! This family loft in Manhattan is an absolutely perfect home tour to welcome in the weekend! It's bright and cheerful, with quirky touches, pops of vibrant pink, green and red and bursting with pattern and lovely art. Owned by American artist, illustrator, creative director and stylist Kate Schelter, her husband Chris Schumacher and their two year old daughter, Charlotte, the happy home is also full of small details, making it truly personal. Let's take a tour....

A lovely Swedish home with a blue accent wall

Why, hello there! I thought I'd stop by to share this lovely Swedish apartment in Gothenburg with you. The space has been made extra special by the addition of a few unique, vintage pieces (that desk!), a wonderful bird print (anyone know where this is from?), a surprising way to hang a plant on the wall and a fab, dramatic blue accent wall in the bedroom. What a perfect tour for some much needed mid-week Scandinavian interior inspiration, don't you think?!

Calm, elegant and unique. What's not to love?

A few pieces I like from this Swedish home: office space - this is a good source for a rattan armchair. Dining area - Bentwood chairs, natural linen tablecloth, Gubi semi pendant light. Bedroom - Bestlite wall lamp, linen bedding. Try samples from Farrow & Ball to achieve a similar wall colour.

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Have a lovely day!
