Beautifully crafted furniture and accessories from Walden

In my mind nothing beats beautifully crafted wood when it comes to bringing warmth and texture to a home. That's why I was so happy to discover the new Austrian furniture brand Walden. Inspired by 'a deeply rooted urge and longing in us all for nature and authenticity', Walden captures the feeling of pure nature in the beds, bedtables and sideboards and accessories. Each piece is crafted with a clear conscience in terms of the process, materials and structure and designed to last for years without losing its natural beauty and functionality. We love that?! Here's a little inspiration from the beautiful Walden collection....

Boho touches in a magnificent Moroccan riad

After yesterday's little piece of paradise I can't stop thinking about my next holiday, how about you?!  That's why I thought we could explore a similarly beautiful and inspiring home today, yet in a completely different corner of the world. Welcome to Morocco! This magical riad has been styled by Cleo Scheulderman for Couleur Locale to showcase their wonderful collection. I'm seeing earthy tones and rich textures from wooden rafters, baskets, stools, rugs and cotton covered lamps. The question is do I opt for the white sandy beaches of St Barths or explore the magnificent souks of Morocco?! Let's take a tour before we decide....

Credits @ Couleur Locale. Styling Cleo Scheulderman | Photography Jeltje Janmaat. Found via Vosge Paris with thanks.

Such a lovely cool space from which to escape the scorching midday sun (and rest those weary feet after a day at the souk!), don't you think? And what a fabulous backdrop for a product shoot?!

Have you been to Morocco?

Nearly all the beautiful items you see are available at Couleur Locale. I'm also loving this fab Moroccan pom pom throw, blanket and Handira wedding blanket (for the wall or bed).

A few links from around the web this weekend:

Perfect bed side inspiration.

Pink was the accent colour in Milan -  hooray for blush!  Even more reason to enjoy my new Tom Dixon stool (seen in my home here)! I love the combination of dark grey, pink and a touch of dark golden yellow in this space too.

This Norwegian house carved out into the cliffs over a fjörd is completely crazy

A beautiful home tour down under.

Right, that's it from me, thank you for a wonderful week of engaging comments, social media shares and lovely e-mails. If you have time this weekend, donät forget to stop by and enter the exciting weekend give-away or simply browse the MSH archives for more bohemian homes (there goes an entire saturday morning!).  TTFN (ta ta for now)....!

PS this is not a sponsored post (they are always clearly marked), I simply love the space!

Dream escape: an ethereal beach house on St Barths

How much would you love to jet off to an island with white powder beaches, turquoise sea and swaying palm trees right now? Your home for the fortnight (because a week just wouldn't be enough!) in the form of an ethereal white pool villa with touches of driftwood, sea-grass and rattan and the most beautiful terrace. Meet Villa Palmier, a little touch of paradise on the island of St Barths in the French West Indies created by Matt and Kate Holstein. This beach house ranks high up in the list of places I would love to stay one day (yes, it's available to rent - I know!), how about you?! For now though, let's dream....

Villa Palmier. Photos: Kate Holstein, found via Dust Jacket / Design Sponge with thanks.

Guh!!!

Do I even need to ask if you can imagine holidaying here?!

And just how cute is that doggy?!

Get the look (yes, really!):  Sea photographic print by Kara Rosenlund, source benches and tables made from driftwood here, banana fibre pouf, panama hat, basket beach bag, sea grass belly basket. rustic stool, white Marshall speakers. Off white linen rug. And of course, a hammock!

Other exotic escapes sitting there waiting for you include a little touch of paradise on Mykonos and a Brazilian pool villa. Where do I even start?! And although not available to rent, the ethereal home of Kara Rosenlund is all the evidence we need that it's possible to get an exotic vibe in our own home!

While we're in the moment, it's worth taking a peek at Annika Von Holdt's instagram snaps of the Bahama's (I know it's another island but....) - when she's not in the Bahama's she at her Copenhagen home - either way....  And (just cos I hear you) here's some pool and beautiful ocean inspiration too. If you close your eyes you can almost feel the warm sun and cool salt water on your skin.

Roll on summer!

Have a dreamy day!

The transformation of the Swedish space with blue doors

Hello! For the second time this week, a home has re-appeared into the blogosphere like magic (the first was the Swedish island hide-away). This time it comes in the form of Swedish stylist Johanna Bradford's former home in Gothenburg - featured here back in 2012. It's fun to see how the interior has transformed - moving from a relaxed look with bright splashes of colour to a modern blend of light wood, white and cognac. I love how the floors are a mix of white gloss, light wood and dramatic black too! But most excitingly of all, those signature blue doors remain intact! Got to love them?!

Stadshem. Photography Jonas Berg. Styling Martina Mattson / Eleven Rooms

Wow! What a space?! So full of character and charm! And so many ideas to steal (for example I love the idea of storing white candles in a simple brown paper bag).

Is there anything that stands out to you?

Items I know and love: sitting room - house doctor molecular light, Beni Ourain rug, cognac leather pouf, Butterfly chair, My Guide to Bombay print. Bedroom: Hay polygon quilt in powder, grey linen bedding. Kitchen / dining: Marshall speakers, this fab industrial pendant lamp from the 1950's is similar to the one over the kitchen table (try this one too).

The clothes rail (anyone know where it's from?) and the fact that my new sneakers have just arrived in the post (love them, soooooo comfy!) have got me thinking about fashion blogs / instagram today -  do you have a favourite? Lately I've been loving Happily Grey - Mary has such a beautifully simple style and the photography is stunning!

Have a lovely day!

PS In Scandinavia they looooove liquorice - I've never been such a fan have you? BUT I have to say I received a surprise package in the post from Lakrids by Johan Bulow Danish purveyor of 'the world's best liquorice'. And you'll never believe what happened?! Yup. I loved it. It was coated in yummy chocolate and beautifully packaged, which always helps of course!

A bright and cheerful Dutch family home

Oh do I have a refreshingly bright, cheerful family home to share with you today. Located in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, Lenneke and Joey's charming townhouse is like a little ray of sunshine (much needed on a grey morning in Southerm Sweden I must say!). The pair decorated the home from scratch using several bucket loads of white paint, cheerful second hand pieces and a lorry load of love and patience. The result is a lovely, warm home with a unique signature style.

Photography: Jansje Klazinga, Styling: Emmy van Dantzig.  Shared with kind permission.

Such a lovely space don't you think? I always think The Dutch have a wonderful knack for injecting colour into a home, and this family has proved it once again!

Items in Lenneke and Joey's home I know and love: Dining - Eames chairs, gold / kilim cushions, Tripp Trapp children's chair. Sitting room - Beni ourain rug, this beautiful black vintage scissor lamp is similar, pick up a vintage industrial stool here. Hallway - rustic bench, panama hat, Swedish Kånken rucksack, little yellow and white children's boots. Bedroom - pink linen bedding, lovely throw with pom poms (also seen in this fab bedroom).

You can see more pics of this charming home over at VT Wonen here.

Jansje came to photograph my home a few years ago and it was such a fun, memorable day! Here are some more homes she's captured and I've featured: Valentina Fussell's lovely Copenhagen home, a Dutch home in a former kindergaten, and a home in The Netherlands with red floors (you'll be pleasantly surprised!).

A few other links I love today:

Five ways to add character to a kids room.

Sitting room storage by String (and a new way to add plants to the home).

How to make drawer pulls from just about anything (our bathroom cabinet hasn't had door handles for several months now - looks like some craft DIY is in order!).

And finally - black bedding? Why not! (This set is on sale.... just saying!).

How to get Scandi-style for your interior by Amara (including a quote from yours truly....:).

Have a wonderful day!

PS Thank you so much to My Warehouse Home for a great review of my book (I'm going to have to pick-up your latest edition, it looks fab!).
